I might have a general idea of what a planner is but is a planner like someone who plans a project and hires people or just someone that is in charge creatively.
Itâs interesting that ryo is now the head of the school. Then since thatâs the case wouldnât it have made sense to call him mr.karate, why still be ryo.
Takuma isnât called Mr.Karate because he was the head of the dojo, the two plot points are unrelated. Ryo being the leader of the dojo doesnât change anything.
Takuma used the Mr. Karate moniker in Art of Fighting 1 because Mr. Big kidnapped Yuri and was blackmailing him to be his henchman. Takuma wanted to hide his identity so he wore a mask and called himself Mr. Karate so no one would know it was him busting people up for Mr. Big.
Since AoF it has been used in a dream match non-canon capacity as a means to convey to the player that Takuma is not holding back anymore, he released his inhibitors and is fighting at full strength, Mr. Karate the demon of Karateka. It is the SNK version of Shin Akuma. Mr. Karate II is a similar thing, itâs old man Ryo much further in the future when he has fully mastered Kyokugenryu and is fighting at full power.
So how strong are Shin Takuma (see what I did there?) and Final Ryo (SWIDT #2) lore-wise? Like, can they bop the likes of Orochi with one strike or something?
Well there arenât too many interactions with them to give definitive answers, but at the end of XIII Ash and Saiki look at normal ass Takuma who is holding back and are afraid of him. Then you have the 2001 ending where Takuma deflects a laser beam that was powerful enough to destroy a city by throwing a fireball at it. Takuma is legit OP. Mr. Karate II there isnât enough to say.
Mr.karate is powerful enough that SNK considered him their equivalent of akuma in SVC chaos. I remember him deflecting that giant ass laser, isnât that the ending where he mentioned king being the mother of something.
Given how OP takuma is then, Iâm surprised someone like rugal never seemed that worried about him. The dude could probably solo the main villains of KOF if he wanted too.
You know after KOFXIV, the next KOF should take a page from MKX and fast forward the timeline 20 years in the future. Kyo now looks like his dad with a beard, terry is replaced by a adult rock, Kimâs sons take over for him, ryo and king have a kid who enters, same with Andy and Mai and ryo comes in as mr.karate.
The rest of the cast could be a mix of older returning characters and new characters. They should bring in the MI cast as well.
SNK doesnât seem to be too kin on the love relationships between the KOF characters though, arenât they? I mean, the closest are probably Andy/Mai stuff like their special intros, but there hasnât been much of a development among the rest of the cast
