If the leaked list is true, then it probably explains the graphics. SNK likely figured out that they’d do better to just get as many characters out in the roster as they could.
I’m kinda looking forward to this game if that roster is true.

I’m happy about the large roster size. If there’s that many characters you’re practically guaranteed to find a team you enjoy playing.

To be fair, this is a 3v3 game, (right?) so they need a large roster so people can still see a variety of characters played. A 3v3 game with a small roster is doomed from the onset because people will just get bored of seeing characters over and over again. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, but that’s the way it is.
You’re going to see the same characters over and over again regardless of roster size after a meta stabilizes.
Having a large roster also helps in the fact of a certain other game, which is going for a smaller roster at the start.

The way i see this game cannot be worse than kof12 or 2003 or 2001, so if it’s better than those it’s a start.

And so not to derail, I think KOF will always have God-tier but even in 98, folks that have good fundamentals can beat anyone. That’s why the franchise is gold.
Even in games like XI with KGO, dudes still did damage with Terry, Ralf, and other less than top tier characters.
I’m probably the only person on Earth to think that 12 wasn’t the worst thing made by humans. It was a bad KoF game, but on it’s own merits the worst problem with the game is that it was unfinished and had no content. Other than that the mechanics were fine and kinda fun to mess around with. But I get why it’s so hated and I definitely don’t want another game like it unless it’s called Art of Fighting 4, but yeah I agree with you.
There’s no way in hell 14 will be anywhere near as bad as the actual bad KoF games and it’ll probably be better than most of the average KoF games, and that’s good enough to me. There are like 15 KoF games and the only 3 anyone ever wants to talk about are 98, 02, and 13. And that all makes sense because those are pretty much by far the strongest entries in the series, but if 14 is better than games like 95, 97, or 2000, it pretty much guarantees a spot in the top 5 games. It’s a shame that that’s not good enough anymore and people want a game that far surpasses 98 while being the prettiest game on the block for them to even consider it, but frankly those people can fuck off.
I just wish people would stop dropping a game just because it isn’t 2k2.
I mean, that’s how XIII died here. We used to hold monthlies for it, but attendance dropped because people just kept going back to 2k2.
