It’s pretty simple, Sylvie’s design is pretty clearly supposed to be busy and ridiculous and insane and she’s supposed to stand out and not look like the rest of the cast because she’s a Harajuku idol, which as already posted is an actual thing that actually exists and makes perfect sense for a MODERN idol design. Everyone is complaining because SNK nailed what they were trying to do. People are mad that they succeeded, but they want to say shit like she doesn’t belong in the game for no reason.
There is no reason you could possibly give that would justify the opinion that she shouldn’t be in the game. You don’t want her in the game because you don’t like her, end of discussion.

It’s just a shame some users are just too thick to see it, i have to side with laban alot of these guys will be gone 3 months after the game is out, good riddance to bad rubbish.
But there’s also guy’s in here who really are a credit to this tiny scene and these are the type of people we need more of, who have opinions and express them, we might not like them or agree with them but at least they take the effort to explain there reasoning and objective rather then just think the game has to revolve around them

let me answer you the snk icon for fighting game the last 20 year is any of Sylvie’s design style , but more terry bogard
and after Kyo real bad ass character , and i dont see Sylvie’s design be the next terry or kyo so i dont see big succeeded at best limited succeeded there because she will never be the next icon , this is my opinion , peace
The KOF cast always reminded me of a tribute to 80s style manly shonen anime/manga. I mean you have a jojo inspired character, kyo was clearly inspired by shonen heroes and the rest of the cast look like you fit them in any action shonen with no issues. The problem now is that they no longer are going for this art style and have made everyone effiniminate and too"Japan." Kyo looks like a j-pop male singer, this new girl looks like a anime loli. She would have never been in the cast back in the 90’s era of SNK games. She represents a mistake SNK is making and should be removed. It’s like looking at the animation and art style of DBZ and looking at what happened to dragon ball super.
Shocker, character made to represent the 2010’s would not have been made in the 90’s. The KoF cast feels like 80’s anime BECAUSE MOST OF THEM WERE MADE IN THE 80’S.
It’s not the 80’s anymore, characters don’t look like that. KoF was not a tribute to anything, it was always a reflection of the times, and like all things fads have changed and characters, fashion, entertainment, it has all changed. It makes sense that when you make a character that is representative of a trend in the modern day it doesn’t look the same as something that was a trend literally 30 years ago. What you’re stuck on is that you prefer the 80’s look, which is fine, but you are wrong to say that SNK should not do what they have always done.
