KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

The ending of the saga retconned itself. After Ash killed his ancestor he ceased to exist and the events of the saga never came to pass. 2003, XI and XIII are now regular KoF tournaments.

Are the 2 boss characters going to be playable?

Personally i’ve never understood it, rock yamazaki alex (sf3) karin all seem to attract the same group of whiny idiots, must be the blonde hair
I mean when was the last time you see somebody on a forum crying about Lee pai long or lin or bob wilson not being in a game?

To the above comment 99.9% of the time the bosses are playable, i cant even remember the last time you couldn’t pick them, it’s gotta be 97

Johngrimm lets not say things we can’t take back. It’s still early, you can retract your blasphemy and we will all pretend you didn’t just say rock is garbage and shouldn’t return.

Poor mans geese, always has been always will be, rock howard the florida panthers of fighting game characters

Why is Rock with Terry if Geese never died in this timeline?

Stop being emotional whenever someone says something you don’t like.

I’ll always like how SNK§ understands that stories need some breathing room to actually be taken seriously.

If Ash’s sacrifice is erased right after the game he made it, there’s no way it’d mean anything, and there’s ALSO no way we’d trust any of their later stories to stick with their narratives, and maintain some integrity.

Give characters and stories some time to simmer. Let a character sit out a game or 2.

And as far as character X from a more mainline game not returning to KoF… lets wait and see if they get a starring spot in a new game in their series too. SNKP is trying to do more than KoF, but if they use EVERYONE in KoF itself, why make another Garou, AoF, SamSho, or RB?

Capcom has made their own group of “Fans who can’t exist with change”. They tried hard with SFIII, but now, they play very strongly with Nostalgia. They’re also not in great financial straits right now!

It’s not very bold for a company to rely on it’s past to continue existing. That’s also very risky; It’s a short term solution. The reason most of us got into our first fighters, was due to the fact they were fresh and exciting at the time. They BOOMED because they were fresh, and that made lifelong devotees out of many of us. If we want series to grow, we need characters that other people can build long-lasting histories with. It’s a HUGE turnoff to people new to a story to hear that they have to go back and play 2 decades worth of games to understand why we like something.

From a creative perspective, they also have a dev team mixed of old and new people working on the game. Developer hands are much more tied, working with legacy content, than they are with original works one comes up with themselves. More NEW characters means they can develop gameplay, special moves, art designs, music, and story content from scratch, rather than relying on the framework set by people who aren’t even with the company before. Art comes out better when the artist involved know the subjects very well.

They’re making moves that are good for the one-on-one fighting part, which will keep serious competitive gamers interested. But they’re also making smart moves for the story and lore of the game. The things that drive cos-players and fan artist to constantly remind people that these characters exist. The things that make a character that’s been in 2 games in 15 years still popular. Having all of that content together is what will help keep the series (and SNKP) around for YEARS to come, rather than just 1 release in 2016.

Hey F*** You

I like these character these character because I fucking do. Not because their OP or low tier sentiments, their interesting characters. Both them fit that funny but strong character. One indulges in his goofy banter and the other just bad ass mentor.

You’re getting a little bit too mad here bruh. It’s just a comment. :l Kappa

*FWIW, most Orochi characters got filtered out of rosters post 98. Yamazaki, New Face team and Chizuru hasn’t been in many KoF’s post 98 if you take a close look at which games they appeared in. Same goes for the NESTS saga characters.

With that said, I would have liked to see a team of Dou Lon, Shen and Oswald to represent the Retcon Saga. *

Nobody likes them but somehow they’ve managed to stay in the series for over 20 fucking years

Yeah must be really unpopular

He’s not a good parent. Terry probably found him somewhere.

By any chances, do you know how is her design in the game? Seifuku, idol, new costume? She’s stuck in those school girl clothes for 3 games already.

Also, I know they’re using XIII as a base for many characters but I hope she’s more like her 2002 or 98 self. I can deal with rekka Kensou though.

Anyways, seeing Nakoruru in, this game might be potentially my favorite one.

The only complain I would do is the choice of Alice instead o Blue Mary. But looks like my favorite’s already in (including Nakoruru).
I don’t mind Love Heart and MuiMui. Jenet is a pirate and Xiangfei is a chinese kung fu girl.

Btw I don’t think the new prisoner is Korean. He honestly looks more South East Asian to me.

Athena is in a red Seifuku.

I’m looking at the screenshots closely and I think I know why people are unimpressed by the graphics. The 3D models and the details of their clothing and skin is actually very next gen. I don’t think the 3D models are the problem, I think the textures are the issue. The textures are far too shinning and as such it makes the game look like something out of the ps2 era. The 3D models themselves are good but the tones on the skin make it look plastic and cheap.

Nigga who is still unimpressed? Everyone is saying the game looks better.

I love the PS2 too so I’ll consider KOFXIV the long lost great ps2 game we never got.

shut the fuck up reo jesus christ

Because based on the canon ending of XIII, the Ash Saga never happened. Ash went and erased Saiki and himself from existence, rewriting history.

Because Geese “went out for some cigarettes”.
