KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

It pretty much works in all games bar except pre 1996 ones like ff special ff3 but i think it works in real bout 1 which was 1995.
so only the really oldskool games

comboing into was never really an issue that’s only a new phenomenon, that only started with 98um, and the input buffer now is so lenient anybody can nail it with enough practice, i mean shit like ducks break spiral was a piece of piss in X1

But as much as i am a massive old school motions fan i dont think they fit into the modern fighter, the last game to really attempt it i feel was kof 2k2 with alot of hsdm, i dont think it worked very well personally, hence why alot of them changed in 2k2um
I just think they were of a certain era, where just landing the move was half the challenge (see jubei super in ff special) couple that with the damage they’d do, i dunno it’s a different time we are living in now

But i will say this, at least snk still tried shit, like ryos funky ranbu in ngbc and gai’s super in X1, i like that, it’s too easy to just make qcf qcfx2 least they still try shit or did

Ironic that reogeo complains about inputs being too hard but his fave kof is 95, the kof with the funkiest inputs ever
charge back 2 seconds down up b+c lol charge down then roll to qcf LOL back forward back forward hcb + hklk LOL

because we all know Rocks Raging Storm in Garou was the best right =)

I’ve heard that from people who base this off his tournament performance and “oh he’s just good online”, which is a bullshit argument. He gives good tips and pointers posts links and references to frame data and conveys what he means very well. It’s not uncommon for someone to know a lot about something but at the same time not being very good (or one of the best) at it themselves. (sports commentators etc.) Also sorry if someone already PM’ed but this urked me

The last thing I’ll do is listen to some individuals who only play capcom games telling me about motions, it’s like listening to a SF player telling me what a good grappler is supposed be like. Lol, overall Darkgeneral gave good advice that’s pretty much what it is.

Any motion will become easy enough with practice

Is he talking about KOF 94,95 which have that unique style over the other iteratios like the darker atmosphere and more notorious gloss/lighting to the graphics?. I knew metal slug was made by ex irem employees but not KOF, it makes sense though since those same employees made the first SF game while working for capcom then later moved onto make games for SNK.

By the way, with all this “We’re gonna be #1 again!” coming from SNK - do you guys there’s a chance we might see an SvC Chaos 2 in the future? Or an SNK-developed CvS3?

I would like to see how SNK could make Street Fighter characters in their new 3D engine, considering it will probably be constantly updated and modified as time goes by. I don’t even care if SF5 chars won’t look as good as they do in SFV, just wanna see how would current SNK approach SF chars a decade after the original SvC game

if this were to happen it’ll be up to Capcom to make the deal, I don’t think Snk would ever approach them to make such a game.

Capcom needs CVS3 more than SNK needs SVC2

We need a proper current gen/PC port of CvS2 with online play first.

Aye, I think you hit the nail on the head. 95 PSX really holds a special place for me due to that dark, very classic-arcade look. Considering Choi has reverted to the shirt he was suppose to have in '94, and the whole “Prisoner team” concept is a direct tie back to those times, I wouldn’t be surprised if the look of this game is directly inspired by having '94 era members on staff who are just following their personal style desires.

Honestly, I personally hope SNKP farms their properties out to others who can do the heavy lifting for them, for a while, via SNKP Ent. Get guest characters in a few Kickstarter games, get a character in big western games / MOBAs, maybe seed the beginnings of CVS / SVC by working out a deal to get some SNK character to appear in the SF Udon comics… stuff like that.

Personally focusing on KoF XIV for a while, they don’t really have the separate power to raise their properties to Marvel Cinematic Universe-level status. But popping up in nearly every facet of entertainment, playing like they’re a constant household name, would help get people to come to them, trying to get those characters they’ve seen everywhere for the past year or 2 into their works.

Like I said, I took the L. I understand I’m in the complete wrong. I know when I’m beat.

Man if only KOF had input like two games with wildly different input windows

KOFXI did it and it worked amazingly well.

The game looks greater every new screenshot.
Look the clothes textures and the fingers details -

Oh man there’s tons of variance in the skin textures now, it’s not just a solid flat color. On top of that the per character lighting is getting a lot better, there’s tons of self shading going on that really gives a lot of depth to the character. It’s really starting to look pretty decent.

Tung Fu Rue is Tung Fu RULIN’!

Yeah we really need this so people can finally realize what a shit game CvS2 really was.

At least SVC Chaos is available on Fightcade…

any news from Mai?

Nope

The character models have a lot of detail that I think a lot of people overlook. The characters do look like their spirte counterparts, and while the textures might not match SFV the details certainly do IMO. It makes me wonder why kyo looks so far off. He should get his old hair style and his previous facial features.
