KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

XI is leagues better then Kof 2003. I was furious with myself when I bought the AES cart and saw how the feel and engine felt.(Not KOF) Im pretty sure Hinako was in 2000 and 2001. But I felt Oswald deserved to be in at least one more. His design was pretty slick for the “old crafty looking man” type.

Vanessa for being in her 30s was still pretty well designed.

She doesn’t even have to be old, just hope she is at least in her early 30s.

It would be weird if she is in her early-mid 20s while Kim’s Master (which I’m assuming) is 40+. I know that could happen in reality, but still.

Official Team is not the hero team. China Team is the hero team.

I think Kim was in his 30s or late 20s in Fatal Fury 2 so I’d imagine his teacher would be 50+ by then. His wife… could be younger then Kim. Girls love older guys.

If y’all want old ladies, play the Goketsuji Ichizoku series. They also have Angela if you want beef cake lady.

One of my favorite series especially the early games up to groove on fight anyway
Not old just one that bucks the norm, ie 16 to 30 an older beefy one would be funny, nobody would see that coming

About the South America team, hopefully they actually represent South America and it’s not just 3 Brazilians. With the ninja being Brazilian, hopefully the handicap boxer and pretty Latin girl are something else.

Lol yeah that’s true

Yeah the official team will most like be to the Dragon Arc saga as Elizabeths team is to the Ash Saga or the Nests team is to the Nests Saga.

yeah it would be nice to see some female characters above 30/with different body types represented. the game already has a lot of skinny young ladies~

This just an old post but it looks interesting so… https://twitter.com/NuraYagami/status/702890586051911680

It’s really not that interesting. Also he can’t get more information because I said too much. Most likely won’t be more leak information.

After reading this I’m like wait did oda just call Robert and benimaru sexy.

Isn’t that what they’re supposed to be?

I think it would be interesting if the new South Town character was female, it would be very interesting if she was.

I was thinking the same for the 3rd prisoner in team with Choi and Chang. Really looking forward to how these mysterious spots turn out.

So the rumor said they where hoping for a Sept release date? I don’t see this game coming out until like late Nov.

If this is coming in fall then they should aim for an October release at the latest. A small scale game like this won’t survive a November release. It can getaway with December as it’s a dead month for video game releases.

As someone who is really new to KoF, how different is XIII from older games like '98 and 2002?

So I’m confused about something. Are these latest trailers and screenshots from the 70% completed build. I mean we don’t really know how far along be current build is at this point. People thought the PSX build was the 70% version but with all these recent teasers and screenshots it looks like the game is still far from done. Is it possible SNK still hasn’t shown us the latest build build yet and perhaps so saving it for the full trailer release.

Much weaker normals, both strength wise and hitbox wise, watered down movesets, way too much emphasis on 30 second combos.

It really depends on who you ask, but I’d also say it depends on who you play with. For the basis of learning, any of the major KoFs will get you used to the jumps, way normals work, special moves of the characters, etc. It’s the unique differences that’ll start to show up as you get better, that define each game from one another.

Movesets are smaller by base moves number in XIII, yes. But there is also the inclusion of EX moves. Many of them are more than “A fireball that hits 2 more times”, such as giving a characters attack grab actual grab properties, or turning a single hit move into a multi-part blow that ends in a juggleable state.

If you want to practice for XIV, XIII might be the best to go with, since 98UM and 2k2UM don’t have any EX specials. If you want to see the essence of KoF, the older ones are probably better to go with, as they have the most refined foundations, that later games build off of.

No way was the demo from PSX the “70%” build. Generally, demos are older builds that have been tested and approved for showing, and the internal builds are further along. This will generally be the same going forward; What we see as playable will always be behind what they’ve got working internally.

They’re most likely not “saving” anything they have done for a later time, not like that. They complete a certain amount of work, set that work to be used for something, and continue working on whatever’s next. There’s no reason for us to currently care what “build” we’re seeing, in that sense. We should be more concerned about which character or stage is revealed.
