Not a problem, everyone can’t have an account everywhere, ha. If Loona or BadWolf don’t bring something from here or MMCafe or such there, I try and jump onto it.
Unlike all those people taking credit for PenPen’s HK C3 vids on Youtube, I definitely wasn’t trying to pretend that was my conversation, ha. What me to make you as a source there, or something of the sort?
I think the only thing that doesn’t make Kyo “look like Kyo” is the parting of his bangs. If he had his old bangs, it’d be spot on. Otherwise, I don’t mind him having a new haircut.
I have to say this version of Kyo looks more Japanese which isn’t a bad thing, he’s supposed to be Japanese anyway. I see his face looks different and his hair is not as long.
In regards to terry I remember talking to my mexican friends about it how popular terry is in the U.S and their responses were like “isn’t that obvious?! And I never liked terry as a main character”.
Terry is popular and we’ll known in Mexico but if we’re talking about the face of KOF it has always been Kyo and Iori.
The weird thing about kyo is that everyone in the cast so far looks like themselves excluding him. Iori, ben,Leona,K and just about every reoccurring character looks like a modern 3D version of themselves. Kyo looks nothing like himself between his black hair, new haircut and extremely girly face. Graphically he doesn’t look so bad but I don’t like what they did with him artistically.
I don’t see Terry as the face of KOF, but as the face of SNK as a whole. I guess for me it’s because of Fatal Fury and its parallel release near SFII. If it wasn’t for Fatal Fury Special guesting Ryo, there wouldn’t be a KOF series. I’m one of the few in the thread that agrees that Terry is more analogous to Ryu than is Kyo in terms of lifestyle and in character motivations. He even is in the titular “Nakoruru & Terry Club.” As a face of KOF? I’d say Kyo is the obvious choice. His own presence in KOF in every year seems to overshadow or undermine even the NESTS and Ash saga protagonists’ magnitude to the story. I guess people would put Kyo as the face of SNK since KOF has long since taken the foreground of branding the company over the Fatal Fury/Garou series, and in turn changing the face from Terry to Kyo. I’d still say, for me, Terry is the true face of SNK.
To you yeah, but honestly things have just changed. Kyo is the outright Face of SNK unless Fatal Fury somehow comes back to prominence.
Faces of Companies change over time. Hell, Capcom themselves are proof. Ryu is the Face of Capcom now as Mega Man fell to the wayside (and RE went through a bad year on top of not putting any favoritism between Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy so no one from RE can become the face either).
While we obviously pay respect to what the former faces brought to the party, to the point where said company probably doesn’t exist without them, eventually a company’s identity can and will change and thus the face they present to the public will also change. Terry will always have his place in history and unlike most other former faces he still retains a good amount of prominence and respect, but his time as the MAN has long since passed.
All I know is that before I ever played a KoF game I recognized Terry. I couldn’t tell you what game he was from, but I knew Terry Bogard and Joe Higashi. And that made me want to buy KoF Xiii(though I had actually played all of the AoF games, but didn’t even realize they were in the game until I turned on the game and saw King and Yuri).
My point being that I think Terry is definitely a more popular and recognizable character than Kyo, but Kyo is definitely the series face
