I was always a big fighting game fan in the 90’s and like most of us I was a capcom fanboy. Even then at that point I still knew who terry was and didn’t actually know kyo existed until CVS2. I think kyo is a cool character and I appreciate what he’s done for the brand, but terry is the face of SNK.

Again like sab stated most people here in the U.S know nothing about KOF because it never got a console release back in the day outside of the AES that very few people owned. I remember I wanted an snes version of KOF 94 but that would’ve been impossible. So the only way you could play it was on the arcades, I can’t speak from experience because I wasn’t here around that time but I’ve read some articles and personal experience (2000-2009 living in California)somehow tells me that arcades died out really quickly in the U.S, main reason KOF never took off in this country.
My first exposure of KOF was '99 on the PS1. Some KOF games did have NA console releases back in the 90s/early 00s on PS1 and DC. But I guess it wasn’t enough or people didn’t really care.
You know I’m really surprised by how many people got into KOF through 99. That was my first KOF game, it was just 9.99$ at toys R us in the clearance bin. When I played it I didn’t know who most of the characters were but I thought they were all cool AF so I looked up the moves and story in a plot guide online. Ever since then I’ve loved the series.
This has got me thinking, if SNK had released a snes port of KOF 94 I think the future of KOF brand in the states would have been so different.

maybe I’m the only one but character VA really plays a big part my enjoyment. even more than appearance stuff, without Nonaka, Kyo just seems weird. :x
My 10th birthday was the day I was introduced to Fatal Fury and Street Fighter 2. March 10th 1992… such a wonderful birthday. While I liked the look in Fatal Fury… let’s fave it Street Fighter 2 played far better.
That all changed when Fatal Fury 2 showed up. I remember reading about Kof 94 in Game fan November 1994… Donkey Kong country was on the cover. Excited as hell for it. Psx I begged my parents for Kof 95 and later samurai 3 on that particular system. When I was 19 I bought cabs and went for Kof 94-2001 and the fatal furys.
Got older started to traveled to Japan quite a bit and got into AES. Why am I saying this? It doesn’t matter when we got into Kof we are all here for kof. I’m glad to see so many people happy that another Kof is coming out.
God bless the Chinese partners and bless SNKP for continuing this franchise. To me Terry is the face of SNKP.

KoF 95 was released on Playstation and Saturn. Those early games did get console releases.
As I said before, mt first exposure to SNK has been through the Fatal Fury OVAs and motion picture. A friend if mine had the SNES version of Fatal Fury 2 and I honestly thought it was a game based on the movie. I recall my cousin renting Art of Fighting on SNES. I never got into KoF into 2000/2001 was released on PS2. 2001 was one of the first KoFs I played. Poor me.

Something actually needs to come out of it for any fear to set in.
They have already announced that a KOF anime is coming this year.
But that anime still needs to be successful to produce any fear from capcom.
Capcom already botched SFV’s release, SNK can learn from this and release a full game on day 1.

I want to see Love Heart personally. The idea of pirate captain girl sounds awesome. She might just get a spot on my team.
