KoF XIII General Discussion: Part II

Yeah, that was me. I was pretty off my game the whole weekend. I had lots of fun though, so I’m still glad I went.

Tokido plays this too?

Yeah, he was in the WGC tourney for this game IIRC.

Really? I didn’t see your name in the pools list, so I had no idea.

I definitely valued the casuals more than the tournament, actually. Got to play against some upper deck players and they were willing to teach me a lot of interesting things. Wish that Final Round lasted an entire week, to be completely honest with you. I did not want to go back home.

Recently picked up ralf for my team. Right now its Clark/Ralf/Shen, not feeling shen as much as I thought and may swap him out for terry or kim. Don’t really see terry as a really good anchor but at the same time I feel like ralf and terry should both be mid. Might try to run Clark/Ralf/Kim. Who are some good kim and ralf players to check out to see how I should be using them?

You can search for Reynald (Kim) and Combofiend (Ralf) videos.

I like Fixel’s Ralf tbh

Thanks! I’ll check all three of those guys out.

Hey man, were you in the Juicebox room on Friday and Saturday? There were a few socal cats in there, as well as a few people from Texas…

Okay, I registered for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown for NCR. I have almost 0 experience against real players and all I have done is grinded the Virtuafighter.com resources and Virtua Fighter 4 EVO tutorial mode. I hope to gain some valuable experience.

Most probably after EVO this year, I’m going to put my time and focus into Virtua Fighter and enter the scene starting fresh as just a simple player and a student, just as I have done with KOF for the 2 to almost 3 years I have been playing this series. I still love KOF and I’m more than willing to still teach and work with new players to help spread good KOF information and knowledge; but, I want a new change of pace and a return to the position of the noob/scrub and work my way from the ground up learning a new game from a series that I have held in high regard for quite a while. Now that the latest version of Virtua Fighter is coming out and if the online function is more than passable, I will shift my focus and earnest effort in that game and series.

If anyone else wants to join me in this path towards learning VF, feel fun and join in on the ride. Right now I’m just starting off on Virtuafighter.com and just hitting up all their resources and trying to recognize stuff like guaranteed throw/punch situations or trying to analyze certain nitaku situations and trying to understand why certain players make certain decisions beyond their whole spectrum of tools available within a particular instance.

Also, this will be the only game that I will only play it on stick, not on pad. Other games I either play only pad, or both pad and stick. So yeahaz, finally my stick will become of use. Might invest in a Qanba if I can actually get a job…

Cool best of luck to you. I actually recently got VF4 Evo on my pc, though I have some problems keeping it at 60 fps since the emulator doesn’t like multi core processors too much it seems. It’s bearable but I notice the skips at times but I sort of just want to learn how the game flows at the moment, not gonna try to go for any fancy links.

Unfortunately not, I ended up hanging with a few of the guys from NC including Roski, as well as Reynald. Had I known about Juicebox’s room, I’d have definitely dropped by.

Sweet. Yeah I’m using this to help me with game flow: http://virtuafighter.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/175677#Post175677

Need competition to practice it though.

On a different note, here’s an old thing I posted a year or two ago. It’s an interesting read. I wrote it when I was a fiery, passionate lad that didn’t take shit from whatever niggas. Still don’t. Something might happen down the line post EVO this year if something doesn’t change within the scene soon.

Even with me never really getting into the competitive scene until fairly recently, I still heard a lot about Dark Geese back in the day.

Part of me wonders what the deal was, another part of me thinks it’s better not to investigate what might be a hornets nest.

Good idea lol.

LOLDarkGeese…
I have no beef with the dude or anything, but the shit I’ve seen all over the place about him is appalling to say the least -_- …

If ash dies in this game does iori get his flame back?

yep, you can see it in Kyo’s and Iori’s team endings in arcade mode.

Sucks for everyone who bought ex iori. I bet you that shit is on disc too.

Kidding aside. That’s cool to hear, haven’t played too much story mode.
