KoF XIII General Discussion: Part II

I’ve heard 360 and PS3 are 1f off speed. Not sure which one runs faster than the other though, if its even the case.

I’ve heard PS3 is a little slower, but in general it isn’t a major problem unless you are doing Takuma stun combos or something like that.

I play on both systems regularly and have no issues going between the two.

I found some more technology on Mai Shiranui herself:

So, can Vice’s Mayhem go into Overkill somehow? I so far haven’t had luck besides one time where I think I did it, but I’m not sure if I actually did.

Congratulations Reynald for winning KOFXIII EVO2013!!!
Shout outs to all KOFXIII players and all KOFXIII EVO2013 participates. GG’s to everyone!

So I guess this resolves the USA/Mexico vs Japan/China/Korea debate.

Not sure if it’s okay to ask this here, but I didn’t see a thread for it, so I thought the General Discussion might be a good place to start. Ignore me if I’m wrong.

I’m new to KOF XIII and I’m trying to put a team together, but I’m torn as far as placement. The three characters I like are King/K’/Maxima and I wanted to have them in that order, but a friend of mine who actually plays KOF says that having K’ and Maxima in those positions might give me a bit of trouble. (It’s a damn shame Vanessa isn’t in this game or otherwise I’d have her on this team.)

King and Maxima are really the only two characters I REALLY like so far, so I’m wondering where I should put him and what other character should fill the final spot. Any advice? I’m not moving King. I’m a King fanboy too much not to have her anywhere other than point.

Hello.
As you are new to KOFXIII, you can technically get away with any team order consisting of King/K’/Maxima. The reason I say that you can play those three characters in any order is because in low level game play, team position is not going to matter as the player might not have the right applications for each characters in terms of purposes and meter usage.

Remember that every character can do the same thing in terms of KOF fundamentals – By the time the player begins taking applications for mid/high level play after getting fundamentals down, they will realize that Maxima is a bit meter-hungry - a little more so than K’ is.
To speak about how you currently have your team arranged, you technically have them in the correct order. King can resort to simply building meter as a point character and spend it only if she can kill for it - K’ would have to spend meter in moderation while retaining a little on Maxima’s behalf as he benefits from it the most. Overtime, you can periodically switch K’ and Maxima between each other, as they both excel at meter usage. The most beginner friendly characters in this game that will help you with KOF fundamentals are Terry/Andy/Shen (in that order). Billy, Ralf, and Claw Iori are the others to keep in mind when learning the fundamentals of the game. To continue learning more about the game, search for SRK’s KOFXIII guide, Dream Cancel (and it’s wiki), and JuiceboxKing’s twitch streams/videos.
On those sites you will find very good information worth keeping mind as you are learning KOFXIII.

kof98umfe will be released on QQGame.

You can go into Overkill 2 ways:

If you use EX Mayhem without the follow up, you can TK Overkill (the input does this for you) and it’ll connect. This way typically isn’t useful though, because EX Mayhem into hop CD into EX Deicide will almost always (if not always) lead to more damage. In my testing, this has never been the most effective use of 2 meter for a finisher.

The second is just to super cancel the Splash-esque follow up. This way is much easier, and can lead to near-optimal damage in some cases at the price of the additional chuck of Drive meter.

Are there any good sites for in-depth character discussion? I’ve tried dream cancel but that place seems fairly dead, except like the general discussion thread.

I’m trying to figure out how to do Athena’s 6b/hop 6b loops, but I have no clue of what I’m doing. I bounce too far back to do more 6b’s.

There’s a lot of general I want to learn too

Outside of asking on SRK or some tiny pocket group on Facebook or something, your best bets are to look for videos or to ask around with frequent players. For Athena’s butt loop, you need to dash underneath so that you get a back-turn state. You might need to input Phoenix Bomb as 4B since you’re crossing up. Maybe this will help.

I just bought KoF13 android.
its pretty good.
better than I thought it would be.
LOL!
i’m looking at the Kula Diamond command list, and it…haha, they misspelled a command and ended up with a curse word.
instead of it(command) saying:
Lazy Spin(Sit) >+K
it says
Lazy Spin(Shit) >+K

swear to god.
look into it yourself if you don’t believe me.

2 things about the game.
1, the backgrounds have no moving animation. understandable and I have no complaints. i’d rather have that than movement that would cause the game to slow down or crash.
2, for some strange reason they made it…more complex by trying to simplify it.
instead of
LP HP
LK HK
the buttons are
E S
P K
E= evasion, S=special move.

they probably thought to themselves, people cant hit LP+LK on a smartphone screen, but they were wrong coz its easy as hell to hit 2 buttons simultaneously with your thumb. when its 2 buttons in a vertical position. like lp+lk, hp+hk.
so by simplifying the control scheme they actually made it more complex coz now you have to re-learn how to control your mains.
so for ex:
you want crouching lk, you do either down-forward+k or just down+k
but if you want hk sweep, you need to do down-back+hk
crazy.
needlessly complex in trying to make the controls adapted for something that isn’t even an issue which is being able to hit LP+LK/HP+HK on a smartphone screen.
I can easily hit P+E or K+S.
no problem.

but its something to get use to.
but frustrating as hell when u first pick up and play.

Hey everybody. I was wondering if there was some rule about the HD install that I don’t know about. Today I was in training mode and I tried to do the install after King’s 3HK. Half of the time I will immediately get a HP, or a lk. I figured out that if you hold down the HP+LK the game gives you 2 inputs of it, but I get the same thing when I don’t hold them down. I tried inserting a LP, and it works sometimes, but other times I get a roll.
