You are hitting the B+C (LK+HP) too late during the normal. You need to active right when the hit is taking place. If you HD active too late then you will get another normal instead. If you conduct a HD activation as you are hitting the opponent, the character perform an automatic forward, enabling you to follow up with whatever normal or special move you need to.
Can Andy get anything from dp A/C [DC] qcb A/C?..I’m messing around with him, but whenever I try to do the input it goes straight into super…is there a short cut between these two inputs I could go to instead?
Both site’s wikis are a good place to start for character specific information, though they both have their bits of vagueness and misinformation. Dream Cancel has several active members, but it’s admittedly rather small as are most kof sites it seems :I . If you post in a character thread, someone knowledgeable will likely always show up to respond.
@Ribu Don’t know about Andy specifically, but it sounds like a similar dilemma Flamiori has. The only solution I can give is that you have to get the input picture perfect, meaning: 623©214© without lifting the stick. picking up an extra 6 after 623 is likely the cause of your problem, so watch your inputs. Disgusting, I know, but doable.
Thanks. It seems that hitting the B+C before I see the 3K hit to gets it consistently, or at least more consistently than I was before.
In the case of King her slide can actually be canceled late, but it takes a little practice to make sure you get s.D coming out of the HD activation.
You either cancel immediately (Like if you start the slide from some other normal) or cancel really really late into the slide and you can get the dash forward.
Haven’t played 13 in awhile and when I started back again, I remember how fuqqing annoying/good Kula 2/5 b.'s are lol.
Hello everyone I kept complaining about sfxt simplicity so they sed go play kof or something lol so here I am I love watching kof but in tournaments character diversity is lacking is the game that unbalanced or its just tier whoring like majority of fg’s?the reason I ask is because I like big characters like SF gief tekken Marduk but no high level big character kof players seem to make stream I like Ralph Terry Clark n maxima just from character design alone king is cool too. Is it impossible to win with these characters at high level?then netcode I keep hearing complaints is it THAT bad? Lastly is there any uploader on YouTube to watch for kof like a pikachuakuma or ssf4evo?
- The balance is actually quite good. Clarke and king are quite strong. But definitely not top tier.
- Yes the netplay is That bad. It is unplayable. If you don’t have locals to play with, you’re wasting your time and money.
Every character in this game is viable for high level tournaments. On higher levels, the player will end up being a lot more concerned with the meter usage and applications they have for whichever character they utilize. There ARE “noteworthy” characters in this game, but they are not “that” much better than other character.
There is plenty of character diversity in high level tournament (I’m speaking from a more international point of view sense I’m in Europe). Fundamentally speaking, every character can do the same thing - should you enjoy a particular character, you need to know how utilize them properly and what tools they have that separate them from the others. This game is (more or less) player dependent. And, yes - the net code is as bad as they say. It is rather inconsistent to say the least.

Look for NESTSZERO, ImbuedGold, JuiceboxAbel (who is now known as JuiceboxKing), and SignbyR for example from the said websites - they are known for uploading a lot KOFXIII related videos.
And, yes - the net-code is as bad as they say. It is rather inconsistent to say the least.
I Guess Terry can be considered that bad, even in extremely high levels, lower tiered chars like ryo, maxima, Leona, and even mai (by Woo) has some time to shine
the Good Terry Players Mario, Mr. KOF, Helpockets, mostly get their terry’s blown up in exteremely high levels.
As stated before, there are no “bad” characters in KOFXIII.
Terry is a rather meter-hungry character to say the least - he has very good normal moves and damage output as he also builds meter relatively quickly. Other Terry players such as a CrimsonKing, Renic himself, and even JuiceboxKing himself (who is currently doing tutorials on the said character) can attest to this. As of KOFXIII, there are only “good” characters and then there are the more “noteworthy” characters in terms of high level game play. Another thing to consider is that how powerful the character themselves might become is more or less dependent on the players fundamentals, the characters team position, the players meter management, and how the player takes advantage of the game’s system.
(The MU’s in this game will usually turn out to be 5/5. There are very few 6/4 MU’s and this is mostly due to how the meter system is constructed in this game as well as the games overall speed - the player is constantly making quick decisions. The player is given access to many different options that don’t even include what the actual characters are capable of).
For some reason qcbA/C doesn’t connect after dpAC. Even canceling to qcb,hcfA/C DM and EXDM after qcbA/C didn’t fair well. If you have problems with the inputs try dp, neutral, qcb or use the shortcut for a dp motion hcb,fA/C for the dp then qcb to bypass the problem inputs.
The “noteworthy” characters really are head and shoulders above the rest. Not so much that you can’t do well against them with lower-tiered characters, but you definitely have to put in more work with a character like Maxima or Robert than you would with Hwa or Mr. Karate.
A few days ago I had a match with almost no lag.
Like literally, almost no lag at all. I didn’t have a problem getting my inputs in or anything. Has this ever happened before?
I think where the top tiers distinguish themselves is the number of roles they can take rather than simply being “better”. Sure Flame Iori can go just about anywhere, but at the same time you aren’t going to derp your way through with him. It isn’t like playing Cammy in SF4 or Chun in 3S where they are simple and strong.
The lower tiers have more defined roles, but they are still great at the roles they can do.
Anybody that says this game has character diversity in high level play is half of a lie. From what I have seen everybody has a pocket iori, Shen, or kyo if they aren’t one of their mains. Other than those characters the game is pretty diverse. But there is almost always at least 2 of those 3 characters in every “high level” match I have watched. Sometimes one of them is on both teams.
Don’t forget the periodic Kim and Mr. Karate either. Those two are extremely viable as far high level game play is concerned. Speaking of which,
JuiceboxKing just did a tutorial on both characters recently and highlighted there basics in order to help other new players adjust to.

I think LoyalSol makes an excellent point. It’s no so much that most of them are significantly better, it’s just that they are an option for many roles. A sharp contrast to say, Elisabeth, who does one or two things really well.
And I think the diversity comment holds true, there are only a few times I recall players going full-on top tier. Most people will almost have a favorite character that maybe isn’t so good between them, and they tend to do really well with them.
so it seems KOFXIII will be coming to steam soon as THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII STEAM EDITION
Thank You God!
Finally! KoFXIII on pc!!!
God…please let it have good netcode on steamworks.
.
How many frames of lag did it feel like? I’ve had steady 15-25 frame lag games but never had a game that could come close to offline.
