KOF XII comes out on July 28th

If its story is along the lines of KOF XI …then I guess I can handle that. I hope it has some story involved in the single player. SNK could have added some challenges as well…not that hard but I am really excited about getting this game none the less.

I’ve always thought they should give two seperate scores really 1 as the actual game and the 2nd as an actual product.

Seriously, having two primo 2D fighters coming out right next to each other has me a bit worried about a cap on success for either one.

but if its coming out like Friday/Saturday I might as well wait for Amazon’s release date delivery on Tuesday for the same price

Damn, only 6 stages in the game? I mean stages usually don’t bother me that much but after seeing how beautiful Blazblue stages are and how many there are. It’s just a little disappointing…

Just got back form GS, was picking up Rainbow Six 2 Vegas. Anyways, the store clerk told me that their computers say it should be out now and it should be in tomorrows shipment.

Guys, there are 2 new trailers on XBL. If you have a HDTV, your gonna love it. One of the trailers assumes the roll as if the game was playing on your TV. So you get a real look at how big the characters will look on your set. Its freaking awesome!

Here’s an interview with Interview with Shane Bettenhausen
Ignition Entertainment Director of Business Development.

Q: What does a Director of Business Development exactly do?
A: My role at Ignition is primarily to help locate games for us to publish.
We’re huge fans of Japanese games here, and most of our lineup consists of games we’ve picked up from partners in Japan, but we’re looking all over the world for developers, and it’s been really cool to get the chance to check out new talent.
My job however, hasn’t been just about business development though, i’ve had to cross over into the realms of PR and marketing a bit, and that’s been highly educational for me. I’d often meet publisher-side types who weren’t really gamers, i think that the fact that Ignition’s top guys are all serious hardcore gamers makes a difference

Q: What is the role of Ignition Entertainment related to KOF XII? (What a publisher does?)
A:We’d be in constant contact with the guys on the dev team to make sure that everything is progressing nicely. In fact, SNK Playmore has a US representative who works out of our office a few days a week. We oversaw all of the PR, marketing, website, and promotion for the game’s US and European release.
One of my big tasks during the last 4 months was to oversee, plan, and host the big KOF XII tournament that we held in LA right before E3

Q: Do the publisher have any say on the design and development process?
A: I think we had a little bit of input on some of the functionality and menus this time around, but not so much as to the gameplay or graphics
But after my recent conversations with SNKP, I think that we’ll have a closer relationship moving forward.

Q: How was the process to select the roster?
A: The team at SNKP viewed KOF XII’s central theme as Rebirth so they focused on Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, Psycho Soliders, and Ikari WArriors…just like 15 years ago. But they couldn’t completely forget the ongoing Ash Crimson saga so his crew got mixed in, too. It’s kind of an odd mix at first, but having played a ton of it over the last few months…the roster totally works

Q: How was the development process?
A: It was definitely a longer and harder development cycle than anyone expected, moving from Atomiswave to Taito Type X2 was a big shift.
And SNK Playmore knew that creating all of the hand-drawn character and background art would be time consuming, a colossal amount of time went into drawing everything. When I was there I saw the art staff physically drawing frames of animation, it was easy to see why 2D fighters are something of a lost art.

Q: Online is a key aspect this generation. What is KOFXII offering?
A: Online is totally key for KOF XII, it’s always been an arcade staple that fans would ‘quarter-up’ for, so offering 8-player lobbies will really help to replicate that arcade feel. About Clans: you can create a custom clan, invite players, kick out losers, and send out a newsletter and play other clans on a separate Clan Leaderboard. (I’m totally expecting the #1 clan to hail from either Latin America or China)

Q: Any fun story about working with the talented SNK guys?
A:Heh, well at E3 I had a great chat with the president of SNK Playmore about everything from why I named my cat after an Evangelion character to why gamers in America really want Garou 2 But also, I had a killer conversation with the producer of KOF XII, Mr. Kukino, a few months back about the game.
