Man I wanted to play this on friday so I could have the whole weekend to enjoy it,ugh
I’m getting hype!
So is critical counter sort of like a custom combo in the alpha series?
The guard attack is like a parry?
Yes and no. A CC can only be activated by pressing forward + HP or HK dependent on the character, and only when you have CC meter. The moment your CC meter fills it immediately begins to deplete. You are then given a chance to create a custom combo, about you must make an effective chain, because just like in the Alpha series, you time it wrong you will loose the combo. CC doesn?t boost your characters ability to do moves at a rapid pace like the Alpha series. It just adds more hitstun from what I can tell. Your CC meter fills with damage taken and also damage given.
Guard attack acts like parry, yet there are some noticeable differences. You must activate guard attack with two buttons and unlike parry can be done at anytime. There is no crouching variation of guard attack. If the move is properly guarded your character will instantaneously throw out a static counter move and knock the opponent back. This is closer to TVC or GG in those respects, it mainly to relieve combo pressure, but I’m sure there is other uses.
Deadlock kind of acts more like a parry. The object is to attempt to clash two moves of equal strength, the characters are then knocked back and can instantly follow-up with a command. It makes for really high-pressure situations if you are immaculate with timing.
Hope that helps.
in simplistic terms, yea though the mechanics themselves are much more different
The parry seems more like a focus attack to me. I can’t wait to get this game! BIG BEAR…errr… I mean raiden is going to whoop on fools!!!
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=185815 Just a PSA. We do have our own IRC Chatroom as well. Just follow the link for a handy guide to get on it.
Heres a break down for you. Links have a visual graph of each play mechanic.

Oh man I can’t wait, 4 more days!!!
All the gamestops I’ve called said there getting it on the 24th.
When I checked for my gamestop online order it was changed to the 27th today.
Does anyone that works at a gamestop confirm that this is coming out on the 24th in store??
Yeah, I called as well. One GameStop manager told me that they’re getting the game in tomorrow because it’s not a “locked” game, or meaning that they don’t have to wait until the 28th to sell their copies. And the manager said that non-GameStop stores will get their copies in later (for what reason, I have no idea). It sounds a little fishy to me. Also, anyone planning on getting the strategy guide book? I may if they have frames and art work. Otherwise, it appears that the guide book (for now) is non-existent…
So, the CC is off a CH B/D right? Or is it really 4 or 6B/D that scrubs can mash out while you can GA it?
Just got the call from Ashley!!! She says it will be in “Friday afternoon.”
I am still doubtful, but I’ll be there!
