Hayate just needs to perform an attack while jumping in or as soon as he hits the ground. Doesn’t need to hit or anything.

Good news for all 3 of us who use Silver, he has a until reccently unkown DM done by pressing :snka::snkb::snkc::snkd: at the same time. Silver will just pose in his stance with a DM flash. I do belive that it powers up his Stomps as they did considerable more stun damage after doing this plus I noticed the CPU’s stun gauge flash as I activated this DM. I have no idea how long it lasts but I think you can just get hit out of the powerup ending it’s effect.

Wow, will definately try this out next time I play.

Update on Silver’s new DM: It’s definetly a stun damage powerup to his stomps however if you get hit you lose the powerup, plus you can only do it once per match(I think).

Can anyone provide strats for Athena?

Athena strats? You’re better off asking DG for those but from what I gather…

-DO NOT use her fireball unless you’re a fullscreen away. If you’re at midscreen stick with the A version.

-She should almost always be leader.

-D Phoenix Arrow is good. It has some wierd anti-roll thingy where it’ll hit people behind you.

-Random B Teleports are useful…

Athena stuff for starts:

If you’ve played 2k2 Athena not much has changed for now. (Style of play I mean guys!!!)

Some beginner things you need to know:

**She has an Iori type backdash manuever- its back,back, DOWN+b(mid-air). She will do her booty bump move she does in the air that is very useful. If makes her cover more ground for escape better than just the backdash.

Pros=+ Cons=-

Pros

  • non-corner Old School bnb is cr.Cxxqcb+C.
  • An old school corner bnb is St. C, f+Bxxqcb+D (in mid air) Off this after the last hit of the qcb+D you can combo her LDM in the corner its a GREAT combo!!!
    +A blocked qcb+D in the air is very safe, it even crosses up in the air!! MAJOR PLUS!!
    +For battery Athena can do backdash to air qcb+b, its good battery.
    +Good pokes are Far. St. C, Far St. D, E even. You can do an RF setup and off a Cr. C blocked or hit do her B or D teleport to the other side for crossup games OR do St. E to practically beat whatever attack they are going to try to snuff out whatever you do.
    +She has an airthrow with C use it when you anticipate them jumping.
    In the air you can combo an air combo of a jump Axxdown+B booty bump attack! Even blocked you bounce away after the booy bump where it sounds like she says (Veejay!!! lol) and follow up with qcb+D in the air!

Cons
-Her air teleport sucks horribly, not very practical.
-Her Hyperhop sucks, she stays in the air too long, so be careful!! When you Hyperhop use E, b or D.
-Without her LDM your main Anti Air Super is gonna be her OG Shining Crystal Bit super: hcbx2 p. So yes late tigerknee it in this game because unless this game removes the Tigerknee inputs in Hyperhop so you’ve got to do Tiger Knees this way- Hyperhop forwards or backwards then input the motion(s)!
-Psycho Sword AA is not as good as it used to be, you’ve got to anticipate it early for it to be useful. It’s about as bad as Geese’s NGBC Raging Storm!!! :lol:
-Her command Grab as a whole sucks, use it sparingly though because its range is very small but you have a couple of things you can get off of it.

  • It’s been said again but without LDM Athena is less fearful, but thats okay for me because though she does less damage in this game than 2k3 even and she aint as good as 2k2 or NeoWave even I save my 2 supers instead of for the LDM and use it for Tiger Knee Crystal Bit supers or AA Crystal Bit supers.

Be warned though, I’ve seen it time and time again there are certain things that can knock Athena out of her Crystal Bit super, and I’ve seen this in 2k2 which tells me surely in the later versions it is gonna still apply!!!
