KOF Orochi Saga Collection - US Version

Wait no versus mode?

Thats retarded! You gotta be kidding me no versus mode for these games? Even when SNK brought out the FF series bundle (both volumes), they had versus modes on them…this is a console port not no MAME bs…

Well, like you said, it is being released by SNK/Playmore USA so maybe they just don’t know any better…at least its coming out period…we could be importing this game and I definitely don’t wanna have to do that and have to get my ps2 chipped or have to buy a japanese one (especially since I’m trying to get a ps3 right now:rofl:)

So what? You just missed this post altogether?

It sucks its like that though. Makes no damn sense to me.

yeah, no damn sense, cuz the original code for these games actually have it, i’m thinking that whoever did the localization at SNK USA were fucking idiots for not including, what everyone would consider, an Essential component of a console fighting game. Seriously this game was delayed for so damn long, and now that its finally out it feels like a sloppy rush job. (i havent even mentioned the loading times yet)

No respect for the fighting game community whatsoever. who gives a shit about the gallery anyway?

anyway i thought it was funny that it took 6 pages to finaly get to the issue about Versus mode… my mini-rant is done.

Lol, y’all…what short memories we have…

NONE of these collections have had VS mode.

No they didn’t.

World Heroes Anthology - no versus mode
AOFA - no versus mode on AOF3
FF:BA1 - no versus mode
FF:BA2 - no versus mode

No one complained about those games. Why start now?

These are ARCADE games, folks. Put your token on the dashboard, and press start already.

So I guess bringing us 10 YEAR OLD, ARCADE PERFECT GAMES THAT WON’T SELL AND THAT NO ONE BESIDES US CARES ABOUT isn’t respectful enough for ya? Tough crowd…

What? I could have sworn I seen it in the FF Bundles…Ima have to check on that…

AOFA and WHA I can care less about those are my least favorite games lol (well I kinda have a liking for AOF3 but thats about it lol)

Just asking, but were these games also in relation with SNK/Playmore USA? Because that would explain why a versus mode is not included in these games…

Probably no one complained those games because honestly… not a lot of people bought those games.

And that goes to the my original arguement, the original Neo Geo AES games (which is the exact same roms as the arcade roms) had menus for Versus mode, even single-character versus mode, options menus for blood and etc. Saying that its “The arcade version” is not a valid arguement to make these games more authentic.

Granted this IS my first game ive ever bought from the “neo geo collection” series (i was an avid kof97 player), but seeing it ported like this, doesnt make me happy about how it was handled.

this post is loltastic

aahh!!! fuck it, I’m just buying this game for 94 and 98 to add up to my collection, I got the japanese version of the other games that are perfect anyway.

but seriously loading times between battles in this day and age is retarded

It blows my mind that people are complaining so much. It is $15 for 5 games!!! We are even getting 2 games the Japanese didn’t get. We need to show our support to SNK Playmore so they will keep making these collections and doing localizations.

Well fuck guys, just buy the thing or don’t. Shit

Stop whining about it already

I think everyone’s made up their mind about this game by now.

hold up pimpin!? so you sayin that WOA is out already?

AOFH is been out but i am lookin 4 that specific game.
where could i get it at? and what others SNK games is gonna come out for ps2 since most of the games are discontinued and pretty much along with the system.

Amazon.com or any other online store should have most of these SNK compilations…

The original saying is “You can’t eat your cake and have it too.” Meaning that once the cake is eaten, it’s gone. Over time the original saying was screwed up and ceased to make sense. I love the useless knowledge I picked up in college.

On topic: I bought this anthology from Gamecrazy for $13. The loading times haven’t been detrimental for me. I am also picking up the Wii version to see if the emulation and load times are better. That was the case with SNK Arcade Anthology and I want to know if it will be the same in this case. I prefer my HRAP3 to my Wii Hori sticks, but I’ll go with whichever collection plays better.

I got the KOF Orochi collection yesterday for PS2.

For $15, they did a good job. The game has an introduction of gameplay and Shinkiro art from the series. The menu has the five games, options, challenge and media. The Challenge mode is a bunch of scenarios they put you through, like get a perfect in a round. By winning each challenge, you’re rewarded with pictures, art and music that goes in the media mode. It’s pretty easy…I just used Clark, Terry or Ryo and spammed supers, specials or high-priority normal moves.

I played the game on my PS3 and except for the black bars on the side, the graphics looked like I remembered them (and didn’t look blurry or hyper pixelated).

I’m not 100 percent sure on the gameplay, but there may have been lag, most likely from using the PS3 and a PS2/Convertor.

The two main issues with the collection are the loading times. I’ve only tried playing KOF 98 and Challenge mode. But there was some loading…not too bad.

And the sound…it’s like there is some type of lag. When I won a round, it wasn’t until the next when I heard the announcer declare it.

But if I had to give the collection a score from 1 to 10, I’d give it 7.5. As far as accuracy goes, 8.5/10. It would of been nice if you had the choice of playing each game with the arrange or original soundtracks. The menu and design could’ve been a bit sharper. The biggest benefit would’ve been if they took a Hyper Super Street Fighter II Turbo approach and given the player the choice of selecting a version of each character from each game. And of course, the load time and sound issues could’ve been negated with additional development time. I’d definitely recommend it to any KOF fan.

I got it, it’s alright.
I highly doubt any of the games are arcade perfect, and it seems almost like PS2 port 2k2 on the controls.
It’s like you have to precisely hit each direction to get the move out.
And the load times are annoying.
Also, I know this wierd glitch in 98.

I wouldn’t recommend especially if you have an MVS/AES or any of the games individually.

Besides, I’m saving up for US 98UM and 02UM

yeh, thats true.

96 is a little bit choppy and it’s hard to input special moves and SDM’s.

97 is alright, it’s one of my favorite KOF series but it’s not that bad.

haven’t played 98’ yet on arcade or vs. i’ll have to check it out.

and if you’re using 360’s to play any of theez games, think again you’d be better off using an 8-way or a hori. i promise.

I’d recommend waiting for 98UM, which is supposed to be out in 3 months anyways.
Has all the good of those others games, and none of the bad.

yup, I’m thinking about returning it and putting $ down on 98UM

Though, I wish 02UM was in the US before Evo, but that’s impossible.

dayum i’m gonna have to put money on that 1 down too…

cuzen, ain’t KOF’98 UM coming out in like jan or feb?

January 20th is the date on Ignition Entertainment’s site.

It’s not sure if many places are aware of it yet though. Just tried to reserve it today with Persona 4 and SF4 at gamestop and it wasn’t even in the database(while being on their website)

Check the 98UM thread for a link. I just posted it yesterday

Gotta say…surprisingly, I’m getting the most enjoyment out of KOF 94 and 95 in this compilation. Maybe because I’ve played 97 and 98 to death in the past.

They’re unexpectedly playable. Very ST-esque, with good control. Even though the AI is unforgivable at level 8 difficulty.

I like the old school sound samples, taken DIRECTLY from FF2. Nice touch, SNK.
