KOF Orochi Saga Collection - US Version

95 has some of the best hit/sound effects ever, so damn meaty

Hell yeah. The Ranbus and Pheonix Flattener sound PAINFUL. And the Orochinagi sounds like it burns your damn skin off of your bones.

I too prefer '94 & '95 over '96 & '97. They’re the only two KoF games I’ve really gotten deep into, because they’re so simple. I, like some just got straight up lost after '95 and the big graphical revamp.

94 and 95 play more like st I would say

I usually don’t care about tiers (I play Hugo, Birdie, and Yunsung in SC2)…

But, I’m curious…anyone know what the pecking order is in 94 and 95? AOF team seems pretty crazy with free, FAST Haoh sho koh kens, good anti-air, and projectiles…

i have no idea about 94, i’d say mexico or italy myself, my friend who finished second in a tourneyment over here back in the day swears by england, i dont see it myself.

95 was discussed in this thread already i think or was it the tiers for shitty games thread?

iori kyo heidern eiji were all really good.
Mexico are good though in 95

And the blood flying on 3 or 4 of the hits in the ranbu make that shit look you’re beating them to death. The later versions of the Ryuko Ranbu don’t look nearly as devastating. I wish they had multiple dms in kof 95. And less damage on normals.

Less damage period. Iori’s close C to rekkas shouldnt do 80% life

England? Well, I image that Yuri can lock people down preety well with jumping fireball, standing fireball, and uppercut…especially since there’s no rolling in this game…and Mai and King are pretty solid, themselves.

But, who knows.

There’s so much damaging stuff in 95, that it’s scary. I do know that Brian Battler’s super is possibly the worst super ever in 94. If it connects, opponent gets a free throw on him. Nice! Early proof that SNK couldn’t care any less for that team if they tried.

KOF got much less extreme after 95. Can you image Yamazaki’s supers in 94 or 95? The screen would be covered in red.

that is some of the things I consider best in the series, snk needs to bring that shit back.

I loved Lori’s winning stance in which he laughs in 95…

It was so creepy and evil.

And c’mon fellas, the game is only $15.

Just got it yesterday (Gamestop $20)

I can now say I own a working copy of all the KOF’s (94-XI 98UM for PS2, except for 99, PSone) I’m lovin 97 just as I remember, and 95 looks and sounds a lot better than I remember

Good on ya SNK, I look forward to 2002 UM and XII

Yeah I got this game at EBGAMES on Friday for $15.00 bucks too. It’s pretty good but the controls can be kind of weird since I’m not used to it. KOF 2002/2003 is a WAY better game than this one but this is still pretty good nonetheless. I’m going to start playing this on my PS3 once I’m done playing Soul Calibur IV. I can’t wait. I love Iori, Yamazaki, Terry, Andy, Kyo, Mai, King and whoever else is good.

Go get this game it’s worth the price.

I switched the controls to make it like 2002 as soon as I turned it on

Actually, I just noticed that they’re now selectable on my copy.

Maybe you have to beat it and save it once…

Played it some more today. I finished 98 and 97. I hate the boss team in 96. Krauser seems to have that rock hard defense.

I loved the presentation in SNK’s 96 games. Samurai Showdown 3 and KOF 96 were beautiful sound and graphic wise (gameplay was a different story).

Also, noticed the bosses and secret characters were unlocked.

98 and 97 definitely have load time. And the sound problem persists. I even kept hearing snippets of the intro in 98 recycle everytime I started a bout. Odd.

Still a great collection all in all

i love it also but the games in 96-98 is a little chopped and screwed. and i definetly recommend the ps2 pad, haven’t tried HORI yet, MAS aren’t really that good, IMO.

If you play on pad, use the d-pad (especially for dualshock 2)

Sometimes it’s kinda frustrating using analog sticks because it’s awkward, especially when you need the precision of a d-pad.

Hi all. I don’t own a ps2, :shake: but does anyone knows how the Wii version holds up against other versions:confused:? As you know this past 25th the game was released for the white box. I’m tired of stupid roms. Plus, my Hori wii stick is collecting dust :mad:. I wanna have the 94-98 collection on my Wii, but I’m wondering if they are going to have frame skips and all those issues that SNK classics Vol. 1 showed? I’m mean they did a great job porting Metal Slug anthology:lovin::lovin:. I have high hopes for this one on my Wii. Pretty much I’m looking for a perfect port!!! :wgrin::wgrin:

P.D. has anyone find the Wii version? I looked for it like in seven stores and none of the had it :shake::sad:

I don’t think the wii version has shipped yet for any gaming stores

and I’m almost 100% sure no one here gives a shit about it on the wii.

Especially for more money than the PS2 one

Amazon says it ships December 2…so a few more days.

Good luck doing some of those SDM’s on the analog sticks. Yeah, d-pad is the only choice.

By the way:

February is going to be a dream month for fighting game fans.
