Lien Specials and Supers

*All moves were performed on Kyo on Sacred Garden alternate stage. Again, I have no frame data, so all advantages/disadvantages are based on what I see/think.

qcf+lp- This must be blocked low. I’d say it’s neutral on block. This move is fairly quick and has nice range. This move serves an an ok anti-air because Lien ducks and it hits above her head since she swings downward. It also can be landed on, so this also helps defends it as being an anti-air. This is super cancelable.

qcf+hp- Slower than the lp version, but is safe on block. This move floats on hit, which allows Lien to follow up with her oh so important juggle combos. Some juggle options are: qcf+lp (knocksdown), charge back…f+lp, f+lk, or level two. Since this move is so slow, it is hard to combo. It does combo off of the second hit of SM#6. This also sets up her mixups with qcf+lk or a half charged dp+lp/hp (I will explain this next).

dp+lp- Neutral on block. A quick chop that can be charged to make it stronger, longer reaching and unblockable. The charge is fairly long and you will never get it on someone who isn’t sleeping during the match. A trick to making this move more reliable is to “half charge” it. This gets the same unblockable, range, and strength results as a full charge, but is a lot more reliable to land in a match, as you can setup for it. A good bur naughty visual que to gettint the timing for the half charge down is to watch for her boobs to bounce after she goes into the stance. After that, you’re good to go. Super cancelable.

dp+hp- same as the lp version.

charge back, then f+lp- Safe on block, really safe if done from a distance. THIS IS LIEN’S PRIMARY JUGGLE MOVE!!! Super cancelable.

charge back, then f+hp- Can’t tell if this has advantage or disadvantage due to the move switching places with your opponent on block or hit. If this move is unsafe, it’s all good because the recovery is cancelable with special and super moves. The only two options that work after having this blocked are either do a level 2 or qcf+hk to get out of trouble and mixup the follow up from there. If you connect with this and hold down hp, Lien goes behind the opponent and snaps their neck. This move is fairly slow and is hard to combo with. It can combo off of the second it or SM#6 for a fancy combo/kill. Super cancelable.

hcb,f+lp/hp- a command with good range (a little more than 1 character away). This can be ducked however. If this is successful, Lien will do something to the opponents neck and they will be targeted by a homing laser. The laser will come down about three seconds later as long as you don’t get hit.

qcb+lp- Lien calls for a laser to be shot down to the stare. This one goes in about 25% from max range from character.

qcb+hp- Laser goes in about 33%.

qcb+lk- Laser goes in about 60%.

qcb+hk- Laser goes in about 80%.

qcf+lk/hk in air- Lien does an angled downward heel attack. Both versions are safe, especially the hk version, ESPECIALLY when aimed at the opponents foot. These moves are great because not only can you cancel/perform them at any point in the air no matter how high or low, but THEY ARE SPECIAL CANCELABLE/FREE SUPER CANCELABLE!!! If you ever land a jumping attack, cancel into qcf+lk/hk,land,level 1. Congrats, you just took 1/3 of your opponents life bar.:tup: This can also be applied on block, but instead of the level 1, do a qcf+lp (ungodly safe blockstring), hcf,f+lp/hp or charge back…f+lp.

*These are good tools to take up space/put something on the screen.

This move and its followups are what make Lien’s game something to be feared!

-Lien does a front flip for the lk version, for the hk version, Lien does a backflip which is temporarily invincible, and then does thr frontflip. The hk version covers a little more range than the lk version and can be used to get you out of trouble. I personally use this instead of roll because o fhte simple fact that you can launch a counter attack/grab with this and you can’t do so with a roll.

Followups:

lp- Lien performs an airguard and also does a funky double jump type deal. This blocks one attack and if an attack is blocked, you can cancel with qcf+lk/hk,land, level 1 or charge back…f+a for knockdown. This is also the reason why YOU NEVER WANT TO NOT DO ANY OF LIEN’S FOLLOWUPS. If you do nothing, you’re just floating in the ait, asking to get raped. This makes sure that you always have at least one option, even if it isn’t needed/opponent doesn’t attack. WHwn they get to this point, mix it up with the hp followup for juggle rape.

lk- Lien performs a downward kick that is pretty safe. This must be blocked high. THIS ALSO CANCELS INTO AIR QCF+LK/HK WHICH MEANS YOU CAN DO: QCF+LK,LK FOLLOWUP,AIR QCF+LK/HK, LAND, LEVEL 1!!! Does amazing damage for 1 stock. This can also cross up. This move is great for getting in/wakeup pressure.

hp- Lien sort of squats in air and lands on top of your opponent for a special grab attack. This move is special/super cancelable after the side kick. Her best follow up after this is, charge back…f+lp, level two. Another, more interesting option is to do a slightly delayed charge back…f+hp after the thrust kick. This is interesting because after it connects, Lien gets on the other side of your opponent and the hp version of this move resets a mid-air opponent. So after resetting them, use a quick SM (peferrably 1-3, , or 8), a late throw/command throw, qcf+lk,cross-up lk follow up, or qcf+hk, whatever follow up. If you use the second option sparsely, I guarantee you will blow your opponents mind.

hk- Lien does a booty slide. This is kinda easy to see coming since she starts it well before she hits the ground. Unsafe on block, but (you guessed it) it special/super cancelable (don;t even bother super cancelling it, the damage is too shitty). Must be blocked low. This is techable, so be sure to do quick specials such as:qcf+lp,charge back…f+lp,dp+lp/hp to ensure knockdown. You could go crazy and use this move to set up a meaty qcf+lk, lk followup for insane damage (if the qcf+lk,lk follow up is being done as the enemy is getting up, you get a HUGE advantage allowing you to land and COMBO SM #17 into a juggle combo for crazy damage). Great half life setup for 2 stocks, whick is always good for Lien since she is decent at building meter through her strings being so safe. Also sets up qcf+lk,hp follow up wakeup shenanigans.

Supers

Level 1- This move is CRUCIAL to Lien’s arsenal. I can’t begin to explain how important this move is. It’s strong and safe, what more could you want? Definately a big part of what makes Lien deadly and is key to many of her “short & sweet” combos… This is safe on block and can be repeated up to two times, each additional time needing another stock. You can set up juggle opprotunities after the second rep if you want to piss off your opponent via a hh lk or a level 2 for the lulz.

Level 2- Unsafe on block, but it has a little invincibility for when you need a way out. Does okay damage when compared to her level 1. This move is best used to end her juggle combos for the extra damage push you need.

Level 3- Definately toned down since MI2. Not much stronger than her level 2, but it has a lot of invincibility and is an UNBLOCKABLE GUARD CANCEL ATTACK, so you cant be too greedy lol.

Wha cha’ll thank? Strats will come eventually. Hope you guys are seeing the amazing amount of potential Lien has.

Just watch for the boobies and it will become unblockable and have more range.
I don’t know of vids of any good Lien players. I’m trying to find a way to get some of her Combos revorded and up on YT to serve as a visual aid. Sorry, I knew that I was gonna need vids to go with this.:sweat:

what move do u perform to do the unblockable and ne chain to set it up. also i heard it was with the laser strike true or not

The unblockable is the dp+lp or ht. That’s all, just use the visual que I said and it’ll work just fine. Any string in which you can combo a qcf+hp is a chain to use to set it up. Instead of juggling with the charge back…f+lp move, use f+lk and cancel that into the dp+punch charge. Your opponent will be juggled by the f+lk which allows you to have time to do most of the charge. You chould be able to do it right after they land. I dunno anything about an unblockable laser though, I can try and look into it if u want.

Word. I just made a wall bounce reset for Lien. I usually don’t go for wall bounce stuff, but I’m doing this for the greater good, plus I’m having mad fun doing this Lien project. Get this, YOU LAND ON LIEN’S LEVEL 1! This is air unblockable, so there’s nothing you can do about it! Horray for juggles. I did it on secret garden, an S stage from midscreen. This means if Lien has 1 stock at the start of a round, you better be very careful because you will lose half life quick.

Syxx, what program are you using to make your vids? I’d much rather make a vid than put up a million combo clips on yt.

Like I said earlier, I’ve been wanting to transfer what I’ve done so far (which is really not much) into a faq and put it up on GF. Only problem I see right now is whether to do the character specific stuff in the general faq, or create separate char-specific faqs that go a little deeper into the char?
