Cool Stormbringer Super Saiki.

His fireball is really cheap, I dig it.

will Saki tournament legit right? i havent seen much gameplay of him, but a non-charge ash seem like things can get a bit hairy~

Pretty sure from what I heard Saiki isn’t just a “non-charge Ash.” I’m not familiar with Ash, but Saiki has teleports and no Sans-Culottes so he’ll probably play pretty differently.

oh okie as long as he wasnt banned or anything…i know hes the boss but in non-boss form so i had to ask~ plus i havent seen much of him in action~

On the surface, his commands and utilities of his moves function more like a shoto than a Guile character. So he’s alright so far, what made him seem a bit over powering at the EVO build wasn’t his tools, but the damage output he dishes out upon an opponent’s mistake. With this trend, he’ll be a powerful but reasonable tournament character. Certainly far from being something like ST Akuma.

ok that makes alot of sense now~ i thought he was similar to his boss form as the SNK.wiki put it…a playable version of his boss incarnation…

His anti-air super is pretty frickin’ annoying. In fact, it beats out a lot of jump-ins and it comes out wicked fast. It’s also an easy hit confirm for the HD MAX cancel. I’m also curious about something I saw. While testing the game, a friend cast a fireball and Billy hit it with his stick. The fireball disappeared and appeared in front of Billy. I wonder if there are properties where if it trades with a fireball, it’ll disappear and hit the person.

Might’ve just been my eyes playing tricks on me too, but that’s what I thought I saw. Anyway, his teleport game is also going to be crazy. His mobility will make it hrd to get a beat on him and might make you approach him awkwardly. For example, if you try to hop in on him and he predicts the trajectory. He could dp, but he could also teleport above you and combo you before you land. With 4 super moves as well, he’s pretty dirty. His super fireball can last long enough for you to cast a regular fireball. It’s pretty dirty stuff.

I’ll run Saiki in some live fights tomorrow, but I already feel that his raw teleport is too slow to be of much use. There’s a big startup and recovery delay with his vertical teleport, so even if a Saiki player reads a hop the opponent should be able to react with an anti-air before Saiki can really come down with an attack (which doesn’t guarantee a combo). If anything, he has much better options for dealing with hops and would be safer anti-airing with his projectile, a normal, or an air-to-air (or blocking). As for his mobility, he’s pretty average save for his air sobats which are nice but not nearly as good for annoying as something like Athena’s EX teleport.

is the teleport invincible? i.e. can i get out of chip damage using it?

nope, teleport is not invincible on the start up frames. you can smack saiki out of it.

a weird note, I was practicing with saiki and when I do 623 B/D, and hold a punch button, saiki automatically drive cancels into his fireball specials. is this supposed to happen? is it some kinda weird bug? it took me a while to wrap my head around what was going on.

I think it’s just how the moves are overlapping, if you are doing 6236 instead without realising it, you have the fireball buffered and ready for that drive cancel, so it happens.

Just post this in the OP. http://wiki.shoryuken.com/The_King_of_Fighters_XIII/Saiki

I just discovered Saiki can cancel his normals into his teleports. he might have some use for them after all…maybe.

EDIT: let me go into detail a bit with this. for example, if Saiki tries a sweep, and it is blocked, instead of finishing the recovery animation, Saiki can cancel into his up teleport, and drop on the opponent, who is still locked in block stun. this means Saiki is given more mobility with the teleports in situation where he wouldn’t otherwise.

saiki is really great <3 he kills everyone in corner with 3 bars :3

anyone has a good good midscreen hd combo?
i have problems with crossup D into combos with QCB+D © :C

but my midscreen hd right now is

(herp) HD C xx dp+D (1st hit) xx qcb+D xx qcf+C xx (qcfqcf+K Maxcancel Neomax) or (Neomax)

Whats the best meterless mid screen combo?

and what Corner combo should I be pulling off consistently meterless and with meter etc

Midscreen meterless:

cr.B x3, QCB B. If you hit with a jump in (usually J.A or J.D) then do C, QCB D - Hold C, DP B.

Basic Corner combo is J.A/J.D, C, QCB.D, Hold D, J.Back+B, land DP.D. for no meter.

Once you start adding drive cancels and such you can do this for 1 drive, no meter.

J.A/J.D, C, QCB.D, Hold D, J.Back+B, land, DP.B (Drive Cancel) QCF.C, QCB.D, Hold D, J.Back+B, land DP.D

To do the drive cancel from DP.B to QCF.C just do DP.B and then press C slightly after B to avoid getting a super cancel.
