Superman totally could have knocked his ass out to stop him in that position.
But then what? He couldn’t send him back to the Phantom Zone, and we don’t know if the ship Supe’s found had anything to restrain Zod.
Kryptonite and red sun tech isn’t in play yet either.
They shouldn’t have written him into a corner like that, Zod should have came out of the big ship and tried to stop Supe’s from destroying it. He’d lose and get sucked into the zone with his goons.
You have to kill the villains in these superhero movies though, or else they won’t sell or something right?
I’m ok with Batman being darker but Superman should always stay family friendly, not PG or anything, but he shouldn’t be snapping people’s fucking necks.
That’s the thing…supes had he dude in a headlock and couldn’t just fly up or something. He had SO many options to deal with him at that point…and again I find the fact that supes didn’t even try to talk to him or reason with him once a bit disturbing.
That’s EXACTLY what they could/should have done. It’s a bit clichéd, but sometimes it works. Like a few things in this movie, the final fist fight just seemed really tacked on and just served as destruction porn fan service.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s later revealed that the original ending included Zod being knocked back into the Phantom zone with his crew, but some executive stepped in with his giant money cock and suggested the ending we got.
Yeah they could have made Supes knock them back into the black hole but they had to show him killing because Supes has always been about the American way and THAT is the American way these days. Gotta appeal to all you gun nut kill crazy Republicans. Okay imma stop lol
Yeah, that Zod seems like a flexible guy, especially after all the “I was bred for one purpose, you took that purpose from me, and now I’ll never stop trying to kill Earthlings” stuff.
What makes you say that? It was poorly handled in Superman II as well. Far more so than here, too, actually. But people are talking about Man of Steel because this is the Man of Steel thread and Superman II was released before most of the people here were even born.
Superman II has a lot of problems, many of which are attributable to the fact that the producers overwrote Richard Donner and Tom Mankiewicz’s ideas as much as possible. Curiously, the way they dispatched Zod and Co. seems to have been the plan all along.
I heard Crowe is interested in a Krypton prequel if they give the project a greenlight. I don’t see a Superman based movie without Superman doing too well. BUT a prequel movie could be a perfect setup for Brainiac down the line in a sequel to Man of Steel and more of Zod’s incredible acting is a plus.
