Kneel Before SRK - The Man of Steel Movie Thread

Convection and shock waves don’t exist in movies unless they do.

She knew they existed, that is why she let dem thangs breathe.

Stringer Bell is going to mourn all of the dead from his missions with such passion and anger that he will win an oscar. If he dies, he will die saving the entire Earth as a true Super Hero.

Either that, or Stringer Bell will be SUCH a boss, that he saves everyone all the time.

It was funny that Superman wasn’t even trying to save anyone. Just directly throwing Zod into buildings full of people. He was fighting like a super villain who didn’t give a shit.

Loved that film. The fight scenes were epic.

He develops humility and compassion for the entire human race in Man of Steel 2. But hey, when you got to get the job done. You get it done. Whats a few 100,000 people?

some of you peeps are fucking insane.

You are whining about not being spoon fed everything, and then, previously you guys where crying about being spoonfed.

Seriously, its not that fucking hard to take a moment and put two and two toghether. you have to be a special kind of retard to not know.

Hmm, Krypton at one point was doing space exploration (hint hint it was explicitly stated in the first 5 min)

The fact that Jor El knew that Superman was going to have X Y and Z on that specific planet implied that they had data on the planet.

Then it doesn’t take a little bit of imagination that perhaps there was a suit with the huge S in that particular spaceship because an ancestor of superman had previously visited, and it perhaps because of this past encounter that Jor El chose Earth as Kal El new home.

And this movie did what I expected it to do. I didn’t go in there expecting character development from Lois, Zod, or any other character. I especially didn’t expect any deep character development between Lois and Superman, as if we even needed that tbh. The first two trailers from this movie hinted at where the real character development would be, and that was between Supermans stepfather and father.

I went in there expecting them to humanize Superman, to show why he behaves the way he does, and why he gives a fuck when its not his turn to even give a single fuck. And they delivered that and more, this movie was exactly about what the title states. Man of Steel, it was about him, it was his movie. Why im here, why im the way i am, and what made me do what I do.

The action scenes where better than in avengers, and was way less choreographed and cheesy tbh. (No micheal Bay runing sequence where they zoom in some bullshit wanna be epic tier zoom at a group of people running in slow mo)

People are way to finicky about this type of stuff.

Sure some of the diolouge could have been better, but with everything in life, everything can be better.

Very stupid conclusion post megafight

Good movir with jesus allegory

came across this

I’m not nuts, others have reported seeing Reeve’s face during the gravity beam scene - http://comicbook.com/blog/2013/06/16/man-of-steel-christopher-reeve-easter-egg-rumor/

Kermode reviews Man of Steel - couldn’t agree with him more

Interview with Henry Cavill

Those battle suits were tough. Especially considering they were done entirely with CG.

I’m not going to say that I wasn’t entertained(of course I was), but it could have been so much better and I feel like it was held back by a lot of the people involved, especially Goyer and Nolan. Then again, I freely admit my biases. I really don’t like Nolan at all.

That said, I think the fight scenes were really well-done and I may watch the movie again sometime just to see some of Superman’s AMAZING FEATS!

Spoiler

Nothing tops the 1978 movie where he lifts the San Andreas Fault, though.

Yeah a lot of people are confirming that.

Also hearing a lot of people noticing a guy in background shots eating oreos.

I personally felt that the funnel cloud bore a resemblance to Marlon Brando.

a few things that I came away with. Just how close Clark was to going “columbine” on Kansas growing up. Those were human outcasts, imagine an alien outcast who had the power to level the city being picked on by a bunch of punks. If this really happened, Clark probably would have done something like that.

Also lack of concern for the safety of other humans during the last fight scene. Yeah don’t bother taking the fight into space, or an empty cornfield/mountain whatever. Keep on fighting in a populated city.

The part after he saves Lois, then stands under beam to fly back up to the ship. I’m tempted to download a cam version just to take a screen cap lol

The Columbine kids were a pathological narcissist and his self-loathing, suggestible sidekick. Neither was on the receiving end of any particularly rough bullying and both had a history of troublemaking that included bullying others. And neither was particularly lacking in friends.

But I take your meaning. Batman has a good line in the otherwise terrible Batman/Superman: Public Enemies:

Except that it probably does occur to him. Which is why he goes so far out of his way to live his life as an ordinary man.

LMAO

So how does kal el build his fortress did the kryptonians leave a ship with a hard drive

How do reporters forget the face of clark kent?

Is lois the only smart person?

Also this movie was great until that part at daily planet and nobody noticing

Nobody but Lois ever met Clark.

Screen Junkies just ruined my childhood

Just came back from the movie. I thought it was good, pretty straight forward with lots of action scenes. There is far worse movies to bitch about this year, so I don’t understand the hate.

Movie was good, I just didn’t like the following:

[details=Spoiler]How everyone in this movie is completely okay with death. Pa Kent is STANDING NEXT TO A TORNADO and is okay with this? Out of all the characters and aliens in the movie, he is the only one who seemed the most alien since standing next to a massive twister would evoke pure fear in ANY human alive. How he stands there and accepts death was unrealistic. With that said, from Superman’s mom just accepting her obliteration, to an entire city being destroyed with millions of people dying, it just seemed like dying isn’t that big of deal.

Also, they really had a hard time not making this into an Alien invasion movie. Perhaps I’m too jaded nowdays, but it seems like the world would be in a panic if that type of message was sent to everyone’s TV. Also, where was the rest of the world’s involvement in stopping the aliens? So because this terror is happening on American soil, it is up to America to stop it even though the entire world is about to be destroyed.

Finally, how the heck are you going to “terashape” or whatever a planet, destroy the thing that was doing that, then just assume that the planet would go back to normal?

The fight scenes were great and a great homage to the original.

It just felt like the moment the movie started to get going, we went back to a flashback that just slowed everything down.

3/5 stars.[/details]

With all that said, is anyone else tired of directors being embarrassed with the core material? Do we really need to avoid saying the name “Superman” in the movie for fear of making it too “cheesy?” If you really need to be that apologetic with the source material, you shouldn’t be involved in the project from the getgo.

We see the same problem with Michael Bay and Transformers.
