Kneel Before SRK - The Man of Steel Movie Thread

This movie simply blew me away. By far one of the best comicbook movies. Finally got to see Superman pitted against people who can match his strength instead of getting own by Kryptonite.

I’m in love with Faora she made me moist and Michael Shannon is the man.

This movie was awesome! Total destruction everywhere. Damn, I was imagining a threesome with amy adams and faora while watching the movie.

It wasn’t a plot hole, remember Batman tells Catwoman about the tunnel that leads out of the city that isn’t guarded it’s just blocked by a stack of cars. Pretty sure one man could climb through that.

Yep the black hole thing was dumb

Was Lex Luthor in this film?

[details=Spoiler]I remember in Smallville it was Lex who drove off the bridge, but in this movie we see a car narrowly miss the schoolbus which drives off the bridge instead. Someone does jump out of the car but we never see the person’s face only the back of his head, they must have seen Clark save all the kids too.

I think you can count the number of people Superman saves on one had, he saves Louis twice during the battle.

Faora, and every scene she was in enough to make me love this movie and confirm I am paying to see it again.

As far as the movie goes as a whole: If you ever remember playing that videogame, “The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction” and you went through the story because you wanted to see it played through, but as soon as you got the chance you destroyed EVERYTHING and it was so fun because everything kept blowing up?

That is what this movie was in spades. My opinion, one of the best comic films in the past 5 years. Zack did Superman justice and I would recommend this film to any one. Supes fan or not.

Spoiler

How the fuck did they rebuild Metropolis in what felt like such a short time? I assume as a plot point they just time jumped…but to rebuild an ENTIRE city, that’s gotta be quite the fucking time jump

Parents are crackheads. Just because a movie is about a superhero doesn’t mean it’s automatically for little kids… and this one sure as shit isn’t. This movie is overflowing with violence.

Reminds me of the time I saw the first Spider-Man movie and some little kid and his dad were walking back to their seats, right at the moment of that slow-mo close-up shot when the Green Goblin was punching Parker’s face bloody. The little kid was basically frozen in place, staring at the screen. Hope he liked getting his dendrites rerouted by the sight of blood floating majestically from a guy’s swollen mouth.

The script was the product of Christopher Nolan (grappling with the maddening task of writing a straightforward story that isn’t structured like a brain teaser) and David S. Goyer (whose compulsive nonsensical elbow-in-the-ribs “Gee, kids, isn’t this cool?” grandstanding is much less restrained under Snyder’s direction than Nolan’s).

Months ago, I theorized that Snyder would compensate for Nolan’s lack of an eye, whereas Nolan would compensate for Snyder’s lack of a brain. I didn’t take into account that somebody has to compensate for the heart, which neither of them has much of.

But, they have the green arrow TV series. In Justice League you’ll at least have green arrow, green lantern, batman, and superman…

Cavill was a good superman, but I just didn’t like the Nolanization of Superman. (Or really the Nolanization of everything now)

This was basically the first Hulk movie with the second Hulk movies actors. The worst part is that people will love it because there was a big fight scene and all the dumbasses who get mad at superman when he isn’t just punching things finally get their wish.

Those people usually think Carnage is the coolest comic villain too.

When the dust settles on this movie you come to the realization that it was a fine movie but it sure as hell ain’t better than Avengers like some will have you to believe. Makes you wonder how they are gonna go about a Justice League movie. Not enough that apparently Man of Steel 2 is supposed to set up the Justice League movie somehow.

People give Avengers more credit than it deserves IMO

People give it more credit cause it actually worked as an ensemble film. Small plothole aside(which actually got answered in the prelude comics and such), the film was just that damn good. Its not to say Man of Steel isn’t good. Its a pretty good movie as well and I think the good acting overshadowed the issues the movie has.

Avengers is so damn over rated

[details=Spoiler]I am well aware that Zod and Fiora stated what the suits did. But if the suits guarded them from Earth’s atmosphere, then logically they shouldn’t have had superpowers. Seeing as on the ship Superman loses his powers, and it was explained because there was no Earth atmosphere.

You know what would have worked better?

NO FUCKING CONTRA BOSS SUITS. The moment Zod shrugged that shit off and hovered, THAT should have been the first things all of Zod’s army did when they got to Earth[/details]

I still enjoyed the movie, and liked the battle scenes. I still enjoyed the effects. I just found that the story was extremely poorly written.

and apparently I was correct about the “I think he’s kinda hot” girl at the end.

Spoiler

her name in the movie was Carrie Ferris. She’s either a nod to Carol or this universes version of her.

also, Nolan has gone on record to state this universe isn’t the same universe as the Dark Knight trilogy.

Earth air nourishes the Sun gives them powers.

but they allude to the fact the suits block out everything. Zod doesn’t get affected until the suits are breached. Like I said, poorly written.

looks like I missed another easter egg:

Spoiler

Blaze comics is in the movie, alluding to the fact that Booster Gold is in this universe

Not really

[details=Spoiler]
It’s just battle armour with a tac mask, it’s not till Zod realizes what power Earth and the Sun gives him does he strip off the suit. But the movie does move at a stupidly fast pace, I’m certain a tonne of dialogue was cut.

Supes does the clever job of telling Zod all he needs to know about mastering the new senses during their first fight lol[/details]

Didn’t bother me so much, plenty of similar situations in real life where that happens to us.

Spoiler

You say its not till Zod realizes the powers they get…except you seem to miss the first thing Zod had them doing when they arrived on earth was leap hundreds of feet, throw cars, and other displays of power. He seemed to know he was super powered already, and he had just arrived on earth. And hadn’t had his mask or suit or whatever breached. He shrugged his suit off at the very end of the movie

This movie was just WAY too rushed. It needed to take time to explain things, and just let the viewer catch up. I truly felt that after Clark and Lois first met, they needed some more scenes of Superman saving the day in his suit, before Zod showed up.

Spoiler

This guy doesn’t take into account the fact that this Superman has just started using his powers to the fullest, and has just started to become an actual superhero, he isn’t good enough to end things quickly or efficiently, he hasn’t had any practice or training before hand either. It can be assumed that the only reason he could beat the other kryptonians is that he absorbed years of yellow sun radiation and they didn’t, only relying on suits(except for Zod later on).

Now if this movie had a Superman who’d been fighting crime and super villains for years he’d have been able to take out the world engines quicker, think to move fights out of populated areas, and saved more lives.

Also, this Superman is much, much weaker in every aspect than the comic version. I want to say he’ll get stronger before the next movie hits but he probably won’t.

I’m not saying the writers didn’t make some errors though.

Spoiler

That was due to the suits, that’s why their senses didn’t flip out when they came to earth, and it’s also why they couldn’t fly or shoot lasers. It’s also why Zod shrugged off his suit once he understood the power that he had, he didn’t need it anymore.

I’m not sure about this. The first Hulk movie was intelligent and heartfelt, but also kind of baffling. The second one was the chilly, high-speed action bukkake, which is more in line with MoS
