Kneel Before SRK - The Man of Steel Movie Thread

Bad guess, I recommend staying away from Vegas.

I always saw Batman as somebody who needed a specific environment to handle something, similar to Spider-Man. Neither could do well in a desert, for instance (Batman having nothing to really hide behind, Spidey having nothing to swing on).

Whereas Superman is all terrain. No matter where you go, you’re fucked.

The thing I like about Supes is that he doesn’t do what he does out of a sense of revenge, or guilt responsibility, or anguish over a loved one’s death…he does what he does because he truly loves us and wants to protect us.

I cant think of anything more based than that

Jesus Christ

with powers

Final Crisis played out the way he did because DC asked him to tie together several different projects. But his writing for his self contained stories is really good. And when he was writing multiple Bat Family books at the same time, you didn’t expect any type of crossover?

I understand that some of it was company pandering just like he did with Marvel His Xmen run was terrible. I can honestly think of nothing redeeming about it and while that also has company pandering involved it left a sour taste in my mouth. When he did his Batman run I rode the whole thing out and it wasn’t a train wreck but I didn’t care for a good chunk of it. Then the Superman involvment. He does good in certain instances I do agree. I just think, personally that as a whole presentation wise and that is also fully understanding that art direction (such as the case with X men which was bad) was not his fault. HIs stuff is just bad. I have never been a great fan of Grant Morrison. As a whole I did enjoy his run with Batman despite a few gripes, but those were just nitpicky and not worth the mention. I try to remain objective when reading something of his, just like any writer another one is Batwoman ongoing everything. BUt he stands out to me as problematic. I did enjoy All Star Superman though in regards to the last post.

In regards to a post mentioned above. There was a comic arc where Batman and Superman switched and I can’t remember the issue or run but it went along the lines that Batman was still effective in Metropolis but hated the city because he couldn’t be completely effective due to alot of lighting and modern or futuristic architecture which meant a great deal of slowdown and an inability to canvas the city effectively. Also there was the whole day time thing he had to work out. Superman by contrast hates everything about Gotham even the citizens and he was virtually uneffective, there was one instance in which he saved a woman from a group of thugs who were in the process of raping, stealing, and murdering her and once Superman saved her she was hostile twoards him because he should have been there earlier and killed them and beat them more and he ruined her car in the process which is pretty ridiculous all things considered, but Gotham vs Metropolis is the enemy often times as much as the criminals within it, the only worse example being Hub City which is like Gotham x infinity.

Supes is great but he has to be an ideal which is the thing that gets him in trouble nine times out of ten. Because he doesn’t see shades of grey. Like I said I appreciate him but somtimes being a good person just isn’t enough.

I disagree with the spiderman thing. His talents would prevail in a desert. Now underwater or free falling from some sorta fight in the air, i can dig it . But spiderman would still smash faces in a desert. He’s very strong and fast.

Yeah. It just wouldn’t be as fun to watch Spider-Man in the desert, because, fuck it, one of the greatest appeals of the character is his method of getting around.

It’s the same reason Superman set up shop in Metropolis instead of the suburbs. Flying is at its maximum coolness when you’re surrounded by futuristic skyscrapers.

It would be very strange to see Spider-Man running at you from the horizon rather than swinging in at you.

have you guys never seen issues where spiderman ends up in the suburbs…dude is fucked…and randomly falls from the sky lmfao.

lol best villain hideout evaar

So much fail - http://uk.ign.com/videos/2012/10/18/news-warner-bros-wins-big-in-superman-copyright-battle

What’s worse the fact they tried to take the franchise and potential block the movie from being released and failed or they were dumb enough to accept a $25k a year payout

I remember having several dreams that depicted me as having spiderman’s powers. I never liked the idea of just swinging around lazily so I always would basically jump while pulling myself with the web and webzip around. Then I saw that Shingeki no Kyokin trailer and I thought THAT IS EXACTLY HOW I WAS DOING IT IN MY DREAM LOL.

Anyways, I really just stopped by to say that Goku wins.

The Shusters only reactivated their efforts to get Superman back at the behest of some skeevy lawyer who was trying to make himself the majority shareholder of the character.

DC has actually been somewhat indulgent with the families of Siegel and Shuster over the years. Not forking-over-the-rights-with-no-questions-asked indulgent, but indulgent for an entertainment corporation that holds most of the cards. I don’t think any other Golden Age creator, with the exception of the backstab-happy Bob Kane, has gotten anything like Siegel and Shuster’s bylines, stipends in perpetuity, help with debts, etc.

Ahh didn’t know about the lawyer!

Check this out.

wow, now that’s slimy!

 I like that description.

Always do tend to prefer the Batman stories where he is fallible and makes mistakes like any other person would. The ones where he is perfect are the worst.

When i think of Superheros who are icons (in their universe) and live up to an ideal I always think of Steve Rogers and Captain America. Been meaning to dig into superman more tho, aside from movies and the DCAU and some online reading i don;t really know comic Superman that well, and tend to find what i do know to either be paltry, or wrong.
