So much fun. The level 3 missions are the best, since you have crazy sorts of shit happening. That one mission with the pirate ship actually had enough to cause the game to slowdown. I was thinking of going for S/S/S+5 ranks for each mission, but I’ll probably just settle for S/S/S, since some stages are a pain in the ass for score attacks.
I have three main ships-- a lock-on, a homing, and a straight-firepower. I swear that the normal homing got nerfed from the japanese release by having a decreased range. I was tearing up with that back in the day, but now it seems like it won’t target shit.
I repeat, Anti-Form would be so more loved if I could react with it. I don’t need healing even, just the ability to avoid damage. And man, you swing once and he just goes off.
Man I’m in halloween town and the game is getting boring. It’s way to easy even on proud mode and there’s a goddamn cutscene every time you do anything
I FUCKING HATE EXPLOSION. That move looks retarded as all hell (keyblade swing, keyblade swing…magic trick?) and it totally threw me off while I was fighting…I turned it off about 10 seconds after getting it, and never turned it back on.
I don’t use Negative Combo either, unless I’m doing something specific (like the Twilight Town mini-games). For me, 2x Combo Plus + Finishing Plus + Guard Break = win.
Fastest way to charge it is either the Drive glitch (which only works if you have enough to Drive) or by simply going the The Land of Dragons, running your MP dry with Drive Boost equipped, and killing those centaur-esque guys.
When you get low on Drive, run to the nearest Save Point.
Teleport to the world map, then return. You’ll have full Drive.
There’s also another Drive glitch involving areas where you see your party members walking around (when they’re physically out of your party as long as you’re in that area), such as the entrance to The World That Never Was when you first get there. If you simply go into those areas and back out, you have full Drive.
This also makes the entrance to TWTNW (but only before you see the scene at the doorway to The Castle That Never Was) the best place for obtaining Final Form, as you can just Drive in the first part with the Shadows, if it’s not Final Form, run back to the entrance, run back out and Drive again until you get it.
The drive glitch only works if you have a full drive bar (I think it only works when you enter a world from the world map). Enter the world and go about your business killing heartless, using your drive metre; before it depleats, run back to a save point and exit the world. If you have exited before your drive is gone, it will be fully restored again. This works really well when levelling up.
Sorry if that wasn’t enunciated well, Pained; I just woke up from a nap.
The new battle sytem was amazing, drives and all were great. The graphics durring game play were great and the movie graphics were phenominal. Some of the music was memorable, and stuck in my head for a few hours.

Game was short as shit. I played it for 3 days I think (roughly 20 hours). Game was too easy, I played it on standard mode, didn’t do any extra training and beat it with ease. The only thing remotley hard about this game were the boss fights with Orginization XIII, some Gummi Levels and when they didnt give you enough info on how to beat the card XIII member. The levels were very short, and only consited of 5-6 rooms. You pretty muich ran around in a circle in the levels, killing heartless and nobodys until you fought the boss. The story was shit, I didn’t even wacth some of the movie scence because i was so bored with them.
Overall the game improved its fighting system and graphics. The story sucks so bad.
And god, FUCK the Hades Paradox. I want a Gameshark now.
Oh, Mert, you’re on fucking crack. This game SHITS all over KH1. KH1’s battle system was the most repetitive garbage I ever had to play through. KH2 defeats that feeling of repetition through having a ridiculous combo system, Drives and Limits that you can preoccupy yourself with, and Reaction commands that just add more variety to all your fights. The game plays out more like a beat 'em up, like it should, versus KH1, which pretended was had deep RPG combat but really didn’t.
As for the story, grin and bear it?
Of course the game is going to be short if you log in 20 hours in just under 3 days. Most RPGs only take 20-30 hours max.
A nice place for the drive glitch is Disney Castle/Timeless River. Start at DC, go into TR, then go into any of the 4 subworlds (like Mickey’s House, Fire Scene, etc…). Run back to the Disney Castle door before time runs out. And also…
SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!
Otherwise you might do an Anti-form and you’ll have to rebuild your drive up to max again. If you go Anti-form, just restart, go Master form a few times to get rid of your Anti-form points. Then continue on with your bizznizz.
I’m gonna start a Proud game. I need to see this special ending, and fucking doing the journal.
Yeah, Yuffie and Squall are a pain in the ass, but they’re easy kills once Tifa is gone. She does that rush combo as soon as you start laying into Yuffie and your shit gets interupted before you can do any real damage. That’s how it went for me anyway, maybe Infini had better luck.
And I guess I must be the only who thought this game was slightly harder than the first, at least up until the Hollow Bastion war. They’re about dead even after that. There are some differences between the US and Japanese version that I noticed, for example:
-Xaldin used his beam super more and had faster normals in the J. Version
-Dancer Nobodies were more aggressive and harder to counter.
-Demyx’s water clones take more hits to defeat.
EDIT: And Xigbar used floor shift/beam super combo much more often. This is all on the Japanese STANDARD mode by the way.
Are you saying KH2 didn’t have a repetitive fighting system? All I had to do was: X X X X X then square to pop them up, square again to juggle, and a final square to juggle then do the X X X X X X X air combo, repeat til dead. Also the reaction commands were cool but so easy. Whenever I had to do a reaction command I would just mash triangle to get the timing. The drives are fun, but you just mash X, thier even more repetitive than KH1 cuz you can’t even defend/counter attack durring them. Limits were dumb, and did shit damage for using up a whole bar of magic. I do like the “Beat em’ up” comparison though.
Let’s face it, most RPGs are repetitive in thier battles anyway. Do your most powerful attacks against bosses, heal, repeat.
I’m going to start a new one in awhile, that is after I 100% my first game. I’m going to play it on Proud and for my stat picks in the begining I’m going to pick Magic and Magic, to make the game actually difficult. Plus I thought the wisdom drive was sweet and wanted to use it more :-P.
And I already said KH2 had a better battle system…but I though KH1 was better. I loved it the first time around and was dying to play it on expert, but KH2 I don’t really care about that much to do a 2nd time around. Ars Arcarum > Drives
Man. I can’t kill that boss at the end of Mission 3 in that Dreadnaught gummiship stage.
I can S+4 the mission, but that boss kills me. The entire screen gets covered in shots, and it has a bazillion HP, or some kind of protection, or something. I’m nailing it constantly with blasts that kill everything in one or two hits (5 shot gravity weapon clusters w/two cannon upgrade equips) and it just won’t fucking go down.
