^^^ confirming what dandy says is true. Also, before anyone asks, the above property is NOT a negative edge thing. No buttons are being released, which is precisely why it’s such a strange trick.
On the issue of unblockables I was wondering if anyone could translate this:
it seems to say something about using lucky vision to do an athena-like unblockable but apparently the timing is much tighter (2 frames?) Can anyone shed some light on what’s being said here?
Regular Yash shares O.Yash’s commanding normal moves: jump/hop D, low C, stand B…all good for regular ground games. Of course, normal Yash doesn’t have the throw mixup, so you gotta count on landing those hits. Basically he can combo lots of stuff after close C -> fwd + A or B. Sledgehammer (HCB + K) is good to use after a low D just to confuse people.
I personally consider '98 Yash to be more versatile than 2K2 Yash even though 2K2 Yash is higher in the tier list than '98 Yash.
while we’re at it i’ve noticed that yashiro’s close D seems to start up a bit faster than his close C and leads into all the same combos, is this actually the case?
Also D pushes back more but does more damage than C. Same goes for f+B vs f+A, f+B does more damage but also pushes back more (well more like it travels less distance). So in some situations you have to be careful about doing D xx f+B because for example oyash’s throw can whiffs at some distances. f+B has more damage difference and pushback difference than D does though, so keep that in mind when mixing in the hits.
Why would anyone use Jap KOF98 tiers when the Japs suck at the game? I’d go with Chinese tier lists for sure. I’m not sure if the Mexicans and Koreans are better than KOF than the Japs - but it might be true given popularity outside Japan.
Well, it’s kind of a slippery slope with 98. You can pool O.Yash with all those guys, but then you can make an argument for Ralf and Robert as well, maybe even Terry or Benimaru.
