Like that’s ever stopped SRK from completely dismissing a game before.
Wait, so you’re saying that SRK is filled with moronic haters?
HERESY!
Am I the only one who liked the graphics in KoFXII? I’m hearing a lot of complaints and comparisons to Blazblue (which makes no sense because they did dot art intentionally and Blazblue is hand drawn). In a perfect world, KoFXIII will have the same graphic style of XII, more characters (King, Mai, Angel, etc.) more levels, and playable online. Thank you, that is all.
We’ve already been over that. The only real problem with KOFXII’s graphics is that they zoom in on them way too much. If they had a normal KOF zoom as opposed to going all AOF on it, they’d look fine.
That’s exactly it. The actual characters themselves look incredible and animate really well… but the view going in and out all the time is disorienting as hell. Then when you get a CC and the game zooms WAY in… looks terrible. They should pick one scaling and stick with it, for sure.
yep, the full screen distance of zoom is the best (starting position , i think) the up close is just a bit ott.
Just want to say, Gai Tendo in this game would = instant buy
Any news on KOF13? Nothing leak? =/
they look GREAT zoomed in, and makes the action more up close and intense!
well I’m a fan of the AOF series also, but there’s really no problem with it. I always felt KOF should have the characters bigger/closer. and with smoothing on they look even better!
Nah, the new Famitsu still has yet to drop.
characters this game needs aere the ones that aint popular i japan. i mean they would want the loli capoera girl, while id rather see bobby wilson. yamazaki, oswld, silber, gai, those the characters that would make me buy this shit instantly even if it wasnt all that. characters like geese and other cool evil characters ftw. none of that gay ass gill or seth ass bs.
you see that’s the problem with this game
i could say if they put ramon in i’d instant buy but then i’d be worried they’d half ass him like they did to a lot of characters in kof12 :<
I’d think anyone who had a rather large movelist in the past or extensive playstyle with moves would get shafted (Ramon, Hinako, most other grapplers, Kyo,Terry, etc.) Which bothers me.
You speak truth. I would be hyped to shit if Bob Wilson or Xaingfei made it in this game. Hell if they just focus on the FF characters in general (mainly amongst Xiangfei, Bob, Mary, Mai, Franco, Rick, Yamazaki, Geese) I’m fucking sold.
Also fuck Momoko! I honestly hope she NEVER comes back.
Why people hate Momoko? I find her playstyle original and fun, I like those chain combo she has. Character wise, she is ok, not as annoying/ugly as Bao or Minion. Now those 2 are HORRIBLE. Momoko enters the cute/funny area at least.
second. hell, i wouldn’t mind seeing Malin come back either…
I remember I read something on the King of Fighters XII where the developer(s) said that they took a bunch of moves away from all the characters in order to balance out the game. That’s what I had assumed at first because I knew there had to be a good reason why all the characters were missing so many Desperation Moves and Supers that they had throughout all the previous KOF titles. For those that have played KOF XII, think about it; if all the characters had retained all their moves from the previous games, KOF XII would be fuckin’ crazy. I mean with the whole new Critical Counter system and all that. I’m not sure if that would have been a good thing or not. Then again, SNK must’ve went through a playtesting process as Capcom did with Super Street Fighter IV and made the right decision to actually take away certain moves from the characters so that they didn’t end up being too broken.
I personally thought the King of Fighters XII was a pretty solid fighting game. I mean if that game came out first, I’m sure everyone would have liked it. There was nothing wrong with the game at all. Aside from the fact that the characters were missing a bunch of stuff and might have been changed drastically, the crappy online feature(s), and people not liking the graphics for some reason (who the hell cares about graphics if the game is actually good), it was a good fighting game overall. Especially if you’ve played it offline, if you were lucky enough to find or know people that actually liked it and played it, lol. I really liked KOF XII’s new mechanics. I never really understood why people disliked the game so much aside for those reasons I’ve stated. I mean it didn’t have any super-long Reversal windows, easy input / motion shortcuts or some sort of ridiculous comeback system (ya’ll know what I’m talking about). Right? At least the game had Guard Break. I didn’t really find anything wrong with the game, unless you wanna get real technical about the Raiden glitch that has gotten patched, or the Joe Higashi infinite that’s hard as balls to pull off, lol.
Anyway, it seems like KOF XIII needs to be made in order for SNK to redeem themselves. I thought KOF XII was a failure but according to Wikipedia, it says, "During the 2009 E3, IGN awarded KOF XII as the best fighting game, noting the new graphics as well as the gameplay. It also won three Best Fighting Game of E3 2009 awards from GameSpot, 1UP.com and GameSpy." So I don’t know what the hell that’s about but whatever. I’ll take KOF XIII if people are actually going to play it this time. I basically wasted my money on KOF XII because there’s rarely any tournaments for it (I might as well say there are no tournaments for it) and nobody plays it at all. I’m curious as to see what they’re going to do with this next installment. Maybe everyone will have all their moves again. Hopefully. That is, if they’ve learned their lesson from KOF XII. I don’t care about what they choose to do with the graphics. KOF XII’s graphics were perfectly fine and I really liked it. The game just better be fun. Maybe they’ll go back to their older-style gameplay from the previous KOF titles, if that’s what they feel they need to do in order to make KOF XIII successful.
As for the characters I’d like to see in the King of Fighters XIII, I don’t really care. I like the popular characters like Kyo and Iori and I know they’re definitely going to be in the next installment so I’m not worried about that (…or are they?). Would you guys like to see the KOF XII version Iori in this next title or would you guys prefer the original Iori? I think Iori was top tier in KOF XII. I thought he took way too much effort to use though, with all the juggles and timing for his crazy combos, when you can just use someone like Joe Higashi and just OCV free all day, LOL.
I hope they bring back Gai Tendo, Silber and add Rob Python.
XII, like most fighters, did have a few loketests. Clashing was insane in the first loke.
-Bad Rolls
-Bad Throws/Command Throws: Came out too slow or one had to wait for the landing recovery to finish before doing an empty hop throw. Everything but the throw range was bad
-All Standing C/D were the same at any distance unless there was a f.C/D motion for it such as Iori’s st.D being is cl.D all the time unless you did f.D. This kinda was funky if one played characters such as Terry and accidentally get a f.C instead of st.C and miss a combo.
-CCs should have been Max Mode
-Missing special moves and DMs: created a very apparent lack of diversity in how the characters played.
-Clashing projectiles with non projectile moves let alone normals
-Meterless Counter Blowback system that was like Melty Blood’s Bunker Attack but felt incomplete and sometimes entirely whiffed at times.
That’s off the top of my head. The game felt good in terms of normals and specials coming out as it should except for Benimaru’s j.D having practically no hitbox for crossing up as it always should or Terry’s df.C being slow as fuck. The linking felt good though. They could make a refined XI system or stick with something like 98 and then it’ll be a solid game if they actually completed characters. Sure balance is a good thing for seeing character diversity within tournaments but sometimes too much makes the game bland. Inequities within each set of tools, each set being each character, is what makes the game interesting. That is why ST is still competitively played and is still “fun” after all these years. KOFXII doesn’t have that staying power unlike 98, and 98 is fairly as one might say “imbalanced”.
