King of Chinatown Documentary - Justin Wong - Empire Arcadia

Thank you for the ideas saturnin, they are really helpful. In the process of working on some of them now.

At the moment I’m in Modesto California. Are there any og’s near here available tommorrow night I could interview? Anyone that was sponsored back in the day?

you should bring this to the toronto international film festival. I think you would get some solid exposure

Any chance of getting a showing in Philly? I know of one or two independent movie theaters 20 or so minutes out of the city that would probably be interested in showing them, pm me if you want more info

when is that, details? If not I’ll find out when I get home.

yes definitely get me the info!!

Thank you everyone, you have no idea how much of a help this is. I’m going to dmake this thread the official king of Chinatown thread and link it to our page. I made a group on gamernook.com also.

lot of festivals are exclusive just so you know… do all your homework …
there is a festival in montreal called FANTASIA i belive

I’ve done a few. But they were smaller. Most were exclusive to some degree. I think with community support I could make big festivals

What was Jason Cole saying about being the best Balrog in America to Gootecks?

And the movie is looking great, can’t wait for it. This and I Got Next. ^.^

link says new website yesterday

The new website is up! If anyone has sees talk of this film on any other message board or gaming news site please let me know.

If you want a showing around the Midwest, Chicago is a good central area and you can probably get a showing at Facets. http://www.facets.org/

Hey,

You should definitely try Baxter Avenue Filmworks in Louisville, KY. They show a lot of independent movies there, and they are known for doing so. You should be able to pull a large audience there.

^If this comes to dvd, I’ll gladly buy 20 copies if it features a beatdown of TFGM in the director’s cut.

just looked @ the site… here is some constructive criticism. RE do it, and have bright colors, the site looks drab and not interesting. It doesnt have to be latests flash or whatever, it just has to be fun and energetic. Right now it is boring and not fun to stay on and read anything.

cheers

are you getting prints of the film made?

because most theaters can’t show a film unless you have 35mm prints made to be shown.

and those are 10’s of thousands of dollars

  1. Props to TFGM for saying “neo-sapiens”
  2. Would have thought TFGM worked at a cooler place than Gamestop…I wouldnt think any self respecting true video game fan would even walk into one of those stores, least of all work there.
  3. Guy who made the doc: should have thought about investing in a boom mic…and maybe a light or two

Thank you for the constructive criticism. Everything you have said so far has been noted. Your film making experience matches what i’m trying to do more than most people.

Most theaters are big theaters and those aren’t the kind that will be showing this film. All of the indies I have shown at have digital playability. Thank you for your concern. good point. When it gets bigger i’ll eventually have to invest in 35mm prints.

Triforce didn’t work in a gamestop. It’s actually a pretty cool game store that he ran before going to managing Justin full time, but you’ll find out more about that in the story.

We are fixing the audio before it gets released officially. And as far as the light goes, it was shot in keystone in a location where we couldnt use lights because of the neighbors… its supposed to be underground… Unatural lighting would kill the mood i was going for anyway.

Ah, very good then.

Perfect

fair enough

Anyone that is suggesting this be shown in an indie film joint must not know what indie film truly is.

ummm a film made independently, not made through a major studio. Our local indie film theater shows stuff we make all the time. This film has a story that a mainstreaming audience can follow. We have drama and characters. Its not all just interviewing.

looks interesting, and I hope you find success in screening this film.

were you able to interview justin’s parents?
