Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

There are always loketests. But theres a difference between a loketest and what DH is doing, even if its mostly just scale.

It doesn’t change my point though. Hell, listening to combofiend at Evo was the first time I felt good about a SF4 update. I realize that’s subjective, but so many times when you here FG developers talk about their games i just… errgh…

Other than obviously developer feedback, the only difference is that DH is able to let people play their game more.

Capcom showing off a barely updated AE wouldn’t exactly bring butts to the booths.

It also helps that DH has a LOT to prove. They’re out to make a name for themselves and do justice to a franchise they personally enjoy. Capcom hasn’t been like that in decades, and that’s for obvious reasons.

Well, Capcom kinda has an automatic “in” with the FGC. Which is fair enough since they have made like 50% of the major FG’s throughout the years. So they don’t really have to try and get people to pay attention anymore.

We’ll see how the game turns out. There is not rule that because they are trying the game will be good. But they seem to be doing and saying the right things, which makes me happy.

They didn’t do that that was a different company(hijinx I think).

What hellix did wrong was homecoming but in fairness it wasn

But again…it’s a beta version of a game and mike z was mainly complaining that it didn’t feel like"old"KI.

I listened to his complains and it didn’t bother me or give me a indication of the games quality because personally I wasn’t that impressed with skullgirls.

Yeah, i already stand corrected on the SH game.

I got my crappy SH developers mixed up.

Mike Z is working on the new KI? Source? This is news to me.

Gamespot’s streaming right now:

Its over, but Ken Lobb just confirmed that Thunder will be revealed at Gamescom.

DH is listening to feedback and only changing what they want and trying to putting their own little twist on it and ignoring people like Mike Z so having help from the FGC means nothing as you can see with Glacius

So are you implying buktooth isn’t a vocal and coherent member of the fighting game community?

What is Buktooth’s opinion on the game? It is scientifically proven that people who played Garou competitively are generally right when it comes to any topic.

I beleive he works for Double Helix. No idea about Garou, but I do know he was a top cvs2 player in the world for basically the entire life-cycle of the game.

I would have to agree with you. I own a Killer Instinct arcade game (well KI2 cab but have KI1 PCB in there right now) and KI has not aged very well. I still love it for nostalgia reasons, but the game definitely has not aged well like many other fighters have.

For those who watched the interview @ SDCC. Don’t worry about 1 month for the Gamescon

Here you can really see how the Ultra’s rhythm and melody are slightly affected by the stage. Not a major thing, but still a nice flourish.

When the announcer says “Ultra Combo” it sounds so muted and uninspired. I remember he used to sound like he was dying from the hype. WTF happened

I love how you can see the amount of inspiration the producers took from 3S. Rushdown looks fun and very dafe, two button throws, supers aren’t flashy Ultras and very easy to hit confirm into, Jago low forward looks just like Ken’s and etc.

Some fans felt it “went against the tradition” and demanded he say Ultra Combo instead of the awesome declaration of ULLLLLLLTRAAAAAAAAA he gave at E3. Personally I’m looking into getting a petition to bring it back. 80% of the hype was taken from me and I will fight for it!

@Reddchief, I think he looks completely better than the old Glacius, but maybe that’s just me. I’m fine with Hulkcius not being around anymore. He actually looks like he knows how to use a spaceship now. He’s pretty much everything I expected him to be and will be maining him from day one on. Unblockable projectiles are a very interesting concept and will allow unique mid screen spacial and trap games that haven’t been seen in typical SF style games.

Yeah at most MikeZ is a consultant for the game so ultimately not everything he says is going to actually be implemented in the game. It’s kind of futile to expect the game to work to a tee to what Mike Z would want it to since he’s one of the few people that played Killer Instinct competitively to the point where the nuances of the game engine would matter to him. Hopefully the direction they are taking the game in will be appealing to the majority of those who do pick up the game like Ono was able to do with SFIV. Not everybody likes the way SFIV plays, but a lot of people do and it’s the biggest game at Evo 2 years in a row.

The new Killer Instinct will sell pretty well because it literally is the most hyped launch game on either system. The older games will feel outdated to newer players and will probably have emulation glitches all abound.

@FlyingVe, Well considering most people consider a good game by how “honest” it is or the “risk/reward” ratio, Killer Instinct was never a good game in that sense. I think everyone can expect that the new Killer Instinct will lean towards the kusoge/marvel route, but hopefully allow enough honesty and risk/reward balance to make people see and feel the skill involved. I’m kinda surprised you’re even interested in the game, but I guess that’s a good sign if you are for now.

Like any fighting game it’s going to go through its phases of “oh whoops, this shouldn’t have been in the game” shit, but hopefully it all phases out like XTekken did to get a somewhat honest game overall. If not, the game is still guaranteed to be the next Marvel as far as hype factor.

@Hawkingbird, yeah the older announcer wasn’t as deep with his throat. The way he said Ultimate combo was really hype as well. It was toned, dark and less extreme to suggest you are getting killed in a gory manner.

I heard the new Killer Instinct supposedly has the same announcer from KI2 so I guess either his voice is synthesized differently or he just decided to do something different for the sake of it. I like it though. Long as they say ultra and combo people will get into it. I do love the music during the ultras in KI3 and the fact there’s different tones for the regular ultra and the second double ultra. This fighting game is really trying to attract the senses so that literally anyone can get into it.

Stands really close

Steps back twice

Presses B Button

Shoves claw into FlyingVe’s bowels

EDIT: Wow Glacius looks like complete and total ass, sorry Deviljin.

And that is not how you do “ULTRAAAAA”

THIS is how you do it:

Mmm, yeah just have to agree to disagree on Glacius. I never really liked the character that much other than his KI1 song. Now I actually like the character.

Super Nintendo ultra is cool, but after watching the arcade version and KI2, it seems obvious that they made him just say ultra a bunch of times due to hardware limitations.

They did. And besides, the way he screamed it in the E3 build was grand hype. But that SNES Call is better than the way he says Ultra Combo now…
