Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

Except Koop, it’s not just bits and pieces. Double Helix has been VERY DIRECT about what does what in this game. This isn’t Capcom we’re dealing with. When a new mechanic comes out, it gets explained. Combo Breakers, Counter Breakers, Shadow Breakers, Shadow Counters, Auto-Doubles, Character Specific Doubles, Instinct Mode, Shadow Moves, Linkers, Openers, Enders, Knockdown Meter, Ender Meter, Lockouts. All have been shown in this game, all have been explained. There’s no guesswork other than the usual theory.

If you want, I’ll even run that list and explain each and every one and if you’re STILL paranoid about it then don’t look at ANYTHING until you go to an event.

Koop, you shouldn’t have to worry. There’s a lot of mechanisms in place to deal with mashing out counter breakers. Its just people suck at using them ATM.

Appreciate the knowledge @devilJin01 @Saitsu

I love listening to the KI developers, even if it’s just because they actually seem to know about how FGs work.

I mean, how many times has ArkSys, Capcom, or NRS used frame data in their descriptions of mechanics.

When these guys explain something I usually know exactly what is happening.

Yeah they got that really down to earth feel, like an indie developer would give you. This is like a mainstream Skullgirls for me.

Skullgirls is the comparison I make too.

Even though I’m not a big fan of the final product, the whole time through development, you just got the impression the developers (MikeZ) were doing things for the right reasons.

American Fighting games making a comeback. Injustice, Skullgirls, KI, MK.

This rapes all of Capcom’s post 2009 music. Holy fuck. I remember listening to the old KI tracks even just a few months ago going “yeah this music was sick even though it was just a fun time kusoge game”. I love the drums inbetween the guitar riffs for the intro. Shit gets me hyped.

The Jago theme sounds like a re-imagining of his KI2 theme, and fantastically done! Would’ve loved to hear Sabrewulf & Glacius’.

KI competes with Tekken in terms of just sick music.

That is what fighting music is supposed to sound like.

I can’t wait to run that through my 1000W speaker system.

Yeah Tekken seems to be the only fighting series that’s still really putting work into the music anymore. Not surprising that I thought about Tag 2’s music after listening to this stuff. Tekken 2 and 3’s music was still probably the most memorable any fighting game has offered for me. SF3’s stuff a close ass second.

The newer Capcom stuff just feels cheap and slapped together compared to the older stuff from SF2/3/Alpha/Marvel etc. Blazblue and P4A stuff is ok, but it’s not Guilty Gear either. KOF13 wasn’t bad either, but not as good as the KOF11 or any of the old stuff. Virtua Fighter used to have some classic, classic stuff and now it’s kinda hit or miss also.

Skullgirls got help from one of the best game music composers in the world , so that gets a pass. Other than that most of the newer fighters don’t really hold up music wise.

edit

Tekken 2 was my personal favorite. Paul(THEM HORNS), Yoshimitsu, Michelle, Jun, P.Jack, Nina all had freaking awesome themes imo.

I love the effort DH is putting into the game, with music changing dynamically when different situations happen. Its little things like that make the game come together.

KOF and BB hold up amazingly well, XIII not as much as 98 Really you compared XI? The game that many in the scene agree has one of the weaker OSTs but it’s pretty good. The KI music is hella good.

And it’s really not hard to be better than current Capcom when it comes to music.

Tekken 2 is one of the classics in Fighting Game Music.

Street Fighter is iconic, but most of it is reworks of the originals in SFII. I mean, how many versions of Ken’s theme are there, not to mention Guile’s.

KOF is decent, but there are only a few themes that really stand out as fantastic (Geese’s being one of them).

Mortal Kombat is the same way as KOF.

Yeah, I agree with Ginyu. KI is right there with Tekken for best Music. Both of them go so hard.

I like KOF over Tekken by a bit

I got a lot of favorite Tekken ones but the Tekken 3 King arranged is still the most memorable for me. Starts off nice and slow and then just gets real high energy. Makes you feel like you’re really fighting high up in the clouds. I used to try breakdancing to T3’s stuff. LOL.

King Arrange is one of the best FG themes peroid.
