Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

Hope you guys at least try to play the game any way you can. Friends who may get an Xbox One with the game nearby etc. I really feel like this will be the first mainstream fighting game that really pays attention to the players and doesn’t skimp on the features that should have been in fighting games for the last 9 years. Plus, it’s Killer Instinct.

I don’t see your point. Are you saying that I shouldn’t talk about it because it’s not a new concept?

I’m transplant in my current city, and none of my current friends are even the least bit concerned about gaming :frowning:

But I’ll definitely be spending a lot of time at Gamestop or Best Buy, if KI is playable there.

I just mean, it is what it is.

If you want to play it, the choice is clear. If its not a big enough deal for you to make that choice… then the choice is still clear.

If KI wasn’t the only X1 game I wanted, I’d probably have an X1 preordered right now. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to play KI, just that $500 is a lot to pay for one game, especially a game I haven’t played and don’t know if it’s worth the money.

Then like I said, the choice is obvious.

I’m not faulting either thought process.

I just know what’s worth the money for me, and I feel I’ve been playing fighting games long enough to realize that this will be something really good in the long run. What’s worth it is different for different people (I honestly don’t like a lot of the games that other people like) and as soon as I heard about the game and the people working behind it, I was sold.

I’m sure it’ll be out to play at some store day one, yeah.

I feel you buddy, but isn’t buying games we haven’t played part of the fun?

If you’re debating on a ps3 at launch compared to xbox at launch what games got you really hooked for each system.

Because to me if your getting a system at launch it should be all about the launch games, or a 1st gen title that you know you want…

If its about just having a systems then you should probably wait until after 1st quarter to purchase a system, unless you just want to support a brand.

「I solve my problems by just getting both. That fact doesnt ignore how important the launch titles are however.」

Will there be…six-button controllers for the Xbox One?

>_>

The only company they’d probably come from ATM is MadCatz and they haven’t said anything. Doubt Hori is coming out with anything in the near future.

Oh and yeah, once the PS4 gets down to about 300 sometime in the distant future I’ll pick that up too.

Nice write up yesterday over on eventhubs. I’m sure you guys caught it but just in case:
eventhubs.com/news/2013/sep/30/street-fighter-3-parries-and-shadow-breakers-killer-instinct-feel-very-similar-discussing-shadow-breaker-system/

I’m wondering if this would be a solid punishing tactic late game. Keep in mind I’ve only watched vids of it being played not played it myself
Say for example. you are canceling an auto-double, linker or shadow move which is successful and grants you a 4 second lockout.
Do you have time to go into Instinct Mode for max damage for punish?

It depends on the instinct mode.

So far, only saber wolf really has a damage boosting instinct.

Jago and sadira instinct also opens up new combo opportunities, but I think jagos is better for defense/opening people up, and sadira a looks better for mixups.

Yeah the mind games will be pretty nasty. Using shadow counter to alpha counter, then the other guy starts trying to input the shadow breaker in time, then…you realize in that split second they are trying to break out of the counter and go for a counter breaker, but they stop on the second input for the shadow breaker because they figure you’re going for a counter breaker and you end up whiffing your bluff and get punished. Which of course the same could happen during a shadow attack in general.

Mind games. Dat 3rd Strike. Which means early on it’ll be a solid punish for things, but late game it’s looking like people will turn it into a whole execution/mind game to fight back for control of the block situation.

Oh and yeah, you’ll be able to do what you were asking.

You could also potentially use instinct to screw up breaker timing and force a lockout.

Man, from what I see, Anti-Airing in this game will be critical, you do not want people jumping in on you and with the weakness of DP’s in this game, there is nothing stopping you from jumping.

For what it’s worth, the developers have specifically said that they are aware of, and are working on this issue.

Also, the AA are solid, but the damage potential is all over the place. I mean, ex eclipse yields 23%.

We’ll see if they have news on that front Friday.

Long as the DPs and AA normals have strong hit boxes and the vulnerable hit boxes aren’t rather large should be fine. Still can’t really do much but make assumptions on the AA game until the game releases or we se a lot more of the top players like Bukooth or Rich play. I wanna see those 2 in an exhibition to see what’s really going on with the game competitively so far.

『We’ll just have to wait til Thursday to have some of these questions answered. DPs and AAs weren’t too bad from when i played, but that was far long ago.』

Just don’t create SF4 type AAs that seem freakingly invincible. Jumping always feels like such a bad idea in that game.
