am I the only guy who’s not feeling the Idea of the music that plays in time with the ultra’s? I hope there’s an option to turn it off, also I think it would be cool to see the instinct mode models being used at the win screen if you win in instinct mode
Yeah the musical ultras is a controversial issue on the DH forums. Some like it, others don’t. I like them because theyy were put in basically on accident and for me adds a unique charm to the new game. They might throw in an option to turn them off later, but I’m not sure in the long run if they want to turn off Mick’s work just for some of the fans.
Yeahi would like to see instinct mode designs during victories also. This was an issue I had wth Marvel 3 since they created portraits for Dante and Vergil in DT, but the game always shuts off the DT mode before the victory pose.
Wait who doesn’t like the musical ultras? They’re a completely unique feature thats been put in that goes along w/ the rest of the dynamic music system this game has.
Music hitting on the Ultras is, eh - I can go with it or go without it. Heck it’d be cool have it just go silent and increase the bone crunching emphasis of the hits.
I’m sure it’ll grow on the people that dislike it at the moment. Just give it a chance, when you play it - you might feel differently.
I can’t wait to see more colors. They mentioned 6 right? Plus the original KI outfits? I could be mistaken
I’ll totally be rock’n’ that Fox looking Sabrewulf they’ve dubbed Bandicoot.
He was my main in KI and KIGold so I have a soft spot for the wolfy fella.
SF4, MvC3, MK9, and Injustice had fairly mixed initial reception. But also were not shown in public as frequently. About the only game I can remember people being very glowing about was SFxT, but after extended time with the game, impressions soured.
In all honesty I played SF X TK at SDCC when they revealed Poison.
The game was a lot better in that build then the one they released…The feel was quite different.
Where DH is getting it right is all the one on one time with Max and such, showing off a character, display his or her traits, fundamental roots to the play style of that character.
They are really going the extra mile in showcasing the games mechanics.
Will it be a USF4 beater? probably not - even if it is actually the better game. Sad reality.
I want it for sure. But I don’t have faith in the hardware yet. XBone or PS4 I don’t care - one of them if not both are going to have problems. I don’t wish this and I hope I’m wrong, however you have to consider the history. I don’t particularly want to go through the ‘red ring’ incident again. I’ll be waiting till mid-summer at least.
I remember SFxT getting a lot of mixed likes and dislikes on it’s youtube videos and a lot of hate over the gems, pandora, cross assault and then hackers finding characters stuck on the disc which deceived people into buying an 80 dollar game for 60 bucks. Killer Instinct doesn’t really have any of those issues and the only issue it has now is being on the not so preferred system for the holidays. Yet, it will most likely be one of the games that gets people noticing the system so can only go up from there. Most of the videos for the game are very positive and there’s a lot of respected tournament players saying the game’s praises and even working on the damn dev team.
People are going to be looking for something fun and inexpensive come launch for their Xbox Ones and cheap to free Killer Instinct will shine pretty brightly all over everyone’s One dashboards.
Some questions people had about Sadira on the DH forums answered here.
Can you combo break out of her air attacks?
*
In an air to air scenario you cannot. Your chances to break are going to be during ground combos OR of she decides to use normal grounded attacks to air’d opponents.*
Sadira seems quite strong as far as utility goes, and her combos can get fairly large too from what I’ve seen.
What would you say are her biggest weaknesses, and what can someone facing her capitalize on to try and keep her down?
*
JustCallMeBau- Sadira is definitely weaker on the ground than other characters, and has to utilize her air mobility to keep her opponent off balance. Anyone with a solid anti air can knock her out of the air, and then keep her pressured to lock her down (you just have to be careful of her double jump and Widow’s bite when going for your anti air)
*
Will there be a way for her to launch her Ultra in the air?
*
Like the rest of the cast, her Ultra must be initiated from grounded position.
JustCallMeBau-That was a balance decision we made. Seeing as how she had so much ways to get into juggles, we wanted to make sure that she had to be on the ground before she performed standard (and more damaging combos), as well as her Ultra.*
What was the hardest part of balancing a character which is completely different from every other character. Tons of air mobility, double jumps, air combos, etc.
JustCallMeBau- The planning was part of the most difficult part for Sadira, as we had to make sure that she would not only function as a solid character, but would also work within the combat system that we had created.
Can you shadow counter Sadira when she does her air shadow moves?? Also why give one character all the juggle potential an take away from others?? Like only one eclipse for saber then he has to do something else but she can just repeat her air combos. Or when thunder does his shadow grab only juggle really is sammish but has no follow up?? Is it even worth doing??
*
JustCallMeBau- You can perform the Shadow Counter vs her air moves as long as you perform it properly, however it doesn’t mean you’ll connect with your follow up (it depends on the characters Shadow Counter attack, and how it hits). As far as the juggle potential for our other characters goes, each has moves with different juggle characteristics (some moves will be more effective than others), once you start experimenting with the system, you’ll discover all kinds of new and crazy ways to utilize the juggle system.*
How DARE you speak ill of the Ultra Music! You’re no true fan, you’re just…aw fuck it, I’m too tired. lol
Seriously though, while I still love the idea, the actual application is mixed to me. Thunder’s Ultra (especially on his stage) is Metal as Fuck, especially with the flute and the ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA backing him up…but then you have Glacius…
…seriously, it sounds like someone barged in the studio with a Xylophone while Mick Gordon had an off-day. How did THAT get past him?
