Dude, go back and listen to some of the E3 KI vids. He screamed Ultra so loud you’d think he had an orgasm. It was so Hype and went perfectly with the new game. Now the announcer just sounds subdued when he says it…and almost generic.
I really hope Double Helix allows you to switch announcer styles or something. Because when I pull off Ultras, I want Maximum Hype.
-Icelance f+MP
-Icepick b+HP
-Hail qcb+P
-Cold Shoulder qcb+K
-Puddle Punch qcf+K, invulnerable during the startup
-Glacius gets a combo off of his throw in the corner…
Thank you sir, that’ll keep me going a while longer. BTW, im a fanboy and the announcer saying combo is mandatory:)
Anyone know what those green notches under the kv meter represent? I thought it was linkers at first but then near the end of the video Jago did a raw shadow uppercut and it filled 3 notches.
i was worried that KI’s theme of combo emphasis wouldn’t fly in 2013 when there’s a huge audience that will (legitimately) discriminate against that. i don’t think anybody really wanted to see someone botch a giant combo in a big tournament and lose just because of a single-player moment gone wrong. but the idea of having mind games inside of the combos with both players participating seems like a great way to keep it KI, but also adjust for a new market.
now that they’ve shown more of the game, i can’t think of anything i outright don’t like. glacius looks dope, the stages are highly consistent in quality, and DH seems to have a better understanding of how to make a fighting game than most other companies. frankly, this looks better than anything with capcom’s name on it in the past 10+ years, but i’m guessing this game has a gigantic budget. also, slower version of KI theme does serve perfectly as character select music.
found the gameboy cart of KI1 while cleaning the other day, lol. honestly, i recall that being one of the better fighting game ports on gameboy.
-green bar underneath the KV bar displays the strength of the ender you will get.
-break anything. Press any 2 buttons of same strength during hitstop of Opener/Linker/Ender. Do 3 in a row correctly and you’ll break. Sounds similar to breaking manuals accept you don’t have to match the attack strength I guess.
-alpha-counter type move. Costs 1 bar. Looks like you can get a full combo off of it. No invincibility so if you do it the middle of a block string you’ll get hit out of it and lose that meter! High risk high reward. Sounds pretty unique…
I really do hope they show off (if he is returning) Spinal soon! Definitely my favourite character in the series. Hopefully hes not too busy in Hollywood to comeback for a KI tournament.
