Forget the FGC running a KI tournament Id love to see Microsoft run thier own KI national tournament and then have to deal with their own DRM bullshit making it difficult and messing up the tourney.
I might need to re-visit KI1/2 on Mame again just to remind myself it’s gonna be ass. Loved playing KI when I was a kid, but really far as fighting games from the 90’s go, it’s aged pretty badly in terms of gameplay.
There is no way you guys can’t seriously consider buying the Xbone. Its bad enough that you idiots threw a tantrum about the console version instead of going with w/e Evo used to save yourselves the headaches. But falling for the KI trap…I mean, fuck, the games weren’t even good. They were just hilariously stupid.
the announcer sounds like he’s advertising wrestling tickets or a monster truck rally. i’ve never heard a video game trailer begin with the line “coming to your home” before. the random ultra combo yell during jago’s combo was also hilariously awkward.
the tats are a nice touch but jago’s old costume was more iconic. the other characters look good, but i guess there isn’t that much room for error when it comes to rendering glacius. the overall style is much better than sf4, at least. too bad i’ll never play this.
i think the influence depends on their arrival at the company. if they come at a time when the system has been firmly put into place and changing mechanics would mean probably altering the entire game, i can see that the influence could be small. probably also depends on the designers or producers themselves. A lot of tournament players test games and give feedback on various things like mechanics and balance, but in some cases that’s just what it is, feedback. it’s up to the designers and programmers to implement that feedback in a good way and the producers probably want to have a say aswell on the game direction. Plus being a tester, while important to the game’s quality, doesn’t really grant you reign over how the game is designed in the first place.
I do hope Killer Reboot tries to focus on its source material and try to fix the errors of the previous games’ systems instead trying to be sfxt without tagging. even though the system is probably a little dated for some and archaic for others, i think it would be a welcome change of pace and a nice way to pay homage to the franchises dormant roots. Some sites have good documentation of the system, either that or they could probably contact SabrE or mr. Wizard and hear what they have to say. and that NKI and Mike Z combovideo should probably be a good starting point to see what shouldn’t happen.
but i’m daydreaming. fuck this game. fuck the xbone. i’ll probably never buy the system because i don’t condone their robbery of our consumer surplus with their restrictions.
plus… why was turning jago into the splatterhouse guy a reasonable idea to begin with?
There’s also a possibility of a PC release down the road. Don’t forget that Halo got a PC release and it’s not like Microsoft needed the money from that. I would chalk it up the Devs wanting to do it or not and how successful KI 3 will be.
Am I going to buy an XBONE? Fuck no. But I don’t condemn this game just yet, not until we know more about it. I just hope that they take the few good ideas from the original games and do something totally different.
Not sure where you’ve been lately, but the vast majority of PC gaming users have already been taking this style of service up the @$$ for years and begging for more. Steam is by far the most popular digital distribution platform and does exactly the same type of stuff everyone is condemning Microsoft for.
Now re: the rest of your post, I wholeheartedly agree. The devs making this game have no solid pedigree, KI is being built from scratch and I have to buy a crappy console like the Xbox One for it. But I probably will crack, so I might as well start saving up now.
Unless I missed a Halo game somewhere down the line, I think the last Halo PC got was Halo 2, and that was YEARS after it was released on Xbox. Microsoft provides almost no support for PC as a gaming platform. The only port jobs they will authorize are Windows Phone to Windows 8… I get the feeling MS considers PC gaming as a threat to their console service.
It depends. I’m not holding it for a PC version but it’s a huge market and you’d think they would take advantage of that and the Windows 8 store. They could also get away with cross-platform support because they don’t have to worry about godly mouse/keyboard players.
Do I think this is going to happen for sure? No. Do I think there’s a decent chance? Yes.
Also, Halo 2 came out like 2 years after the console release and was blasted by every gaming publication when it came out for PC for being out-dated upon release and GFWL. I think it was the negative reception and low sales to Halo 2 that hurt Halo 3 PC’s chance more than anything else.
