So since this is a sequel to KI2, what would be the idea of bringing dead characters back? From my count thats 3 characters (Cinder,Riptor,Eyedol) not including a cannon ending for 2. I would talk about the new characters in 2 but factoring bringing back time traveling characters and dead characters would make this a standard fighting game story.
I have no problem as long as there is some kind of effort story wise to make sense of it. Like Fulgore in KI2 was the second one built. Maybe this Cinder and Riptor was new byproducts of the same experiments.
The SF characters are still very cheesy looking and definitely a product of their time. The only real difference is that SF characters have obvious influences from manga whereas KI characters are quite literally physical manifestations of merica in the 90s.
well that’s life. you follow principles because they keep things a certain way or just keep society from collapsing or whatever. selling out for a small time of happiness in exchange for a lot of suffering would be why principles have come about.
i kind of want it hacked too but that would be really fucked up for early adopters and the dev team. maybe after a few years or so
Don’t forget Chief Thunder. He never make it to KI2 but was one of my favorites in KI. Had to fire up the arcade versions tonight for a trip down memory lane.
The more I think about it, the more Im getting anxious to see Fulgore ad Spinal’s new designs. I wanna see what a “cool cyborg with glowing blades” would look like, and a skeleton with a headband in their hands.
Actually, she is 20… But, SNKP still does have tendecy of trying too hard with the likes of Mai. Not that I mind anyway… I really look forward to B.Orchid’s return.
I guess I should clarify. Most of the designs were ass, and I wouldn’t want (and DH are not) them to be brought back untouched/unworked into this new game.
They were fine for their time, although still pretty generic in some respects (OG TJ Combo is a great example). And the bosses weren’t very memorable either. At least with me.
And as much as I rag on old TJ, he was definitely one of the more fun to watch. His combos were amazing. I remember going nuts at the local Arcade watching him go to work on dudes.
So I was thinking of making a video similar to acidglows but I wanted to get feedback from the SRK guys here. This thread is small enough that it should be easy to gather suggestions but I just wanted to check it out with you guys first to see if anyone was interested.
Or we don’t run it as I see no way with the current situation that Xbone is going to be used at tourneys or at anime conventions.
I do not see Microsoft helping tourneys nor do I see Evo staff want to invest time, money or resources on making the Xbone work for tourneys.
Seeing the New Killer Instinct at Evo is a Pipe Dream at best.
He did have command grabs. It was either him or the other T1000 knock off. They were blockable because the devs at the time obviously hated the idea of throws.
Hmm could you be referring to that move Glacius received in KI2 the Icy Grip thing?
I don’t think they hated throws (they did add throws to KI2), but maybe they just couldn’t figure out how to make it work in the engine.
I guess if you go the KOF route and make it so command grabs will whiff if you are in blockstun that would work.
BTW 50% unbreakable combos don’t seem so bad if you have to blow meter + instinct mode… And if they implement the super breaker that can break anything its not an issue at all…
it does. yep, and cammy is a shitty design. your point?
I’m so tired of 90s design bullshit and people saying “it’s not bad.” no, it was.
but more importantly, we can make something new. I think probably the most iconic thing about all the KI designs were the bright colors. If they just follow the classic color schemes of each character, I think they can practically go in any direction for their redesigns. Jago and Sabre are looking pretty good.
