That doesn’t mean it can’t be used to be both a reflector as a VS and be given passive properties as a VT to allow pressure or allow you to throw an Aegis as a pressure tool. Just because one of purposes was emphasized more before
Thats why I also proposed it could also just have very a very few number of hits to start and then VT would turn it into a pressure tool. After VT it could gain more hits and be placed “anywhere” on the screen (like Necallis VSkill).
Btw this I just had this thought. What if Aegis starts off with the ability to be thrown anywhere, but it only has one hit and disappears after it travels the distance yiu set it to. However, Uriens VT would be a 3 bar one that increases the amount of hits, keeps it on then screen longer, and opens up the ability to throw out another since the old one stays out longer?
I wonder if the quick charge times for specials and things like Bison’s EX specials requiring no charge in V Trigger will play into how Urien works in V.
well, since Urien was able to play with two aegis reflectors on screen at the same time. Maybe his V-Trigger will be a power-up state in which his V-Skill transforms into creating up to two Aegis Reflectors.
V-bar will shrink accordingly, forcing Urien players to either go for one AR and use the power-up state (more juggle potential on specials to bounce back and forth?) or use two AR and suffer juggle potential on specials but juggle between the reflectors if spaced properly.
Yeah, I was thinking that might be cool. It could be a screen freeze, activation type thing that powers up your next special. That way we could tackle, v-skill (charge during freeze), tackle without charge buffering. Might be a cool way to update his bnb.
Urien’s V-trigger could be to nullify then opponent’s autoblock for a limited time interval. That way, with full V and EX bars you could knock them down, set a proper CA Reflector and revive the glorious Aegis unblockables.
A more serious suggestion could be to make him motion based, but give an additional “Cooldown” bar. This bar should replenish continously at a certain rate while the specials deplete it by a fixed amount. That way it would be possible to make the his moves better than the typical ones, just like charge moves, but without butchering his mobility because of the lack of charge partition. For example, imagine specials depleting the cooldown bar by 33 % while it replenishes at a rate of 25 % each second. It would be possible to exert up to three Chariot Tackles for pressure or juggle purposes but it would require 4 seconds to full recover, or you could manage it so you always have one or two specials at the ready. It would give him the special feel of having to “keep charge” without the negative of having to hold on downback and stay in a single place.
I loved Urien in 3S and will gladly play him here. Aegis Reflector concerns notwithstanding though, there’s one thing I really want…
Capcom, can you PLEASE make an alternate costume where he has his suit on all the time?? Please? It’s such a nice suit. I always feel a little sad when I see him wreck it. Think of how much money he could save by not going through dozens of suits each month.
However given the magnitude or Uriens release and Capcoms community involvement it wouldnt be far fetched to even imply that they are going to keep his core elements in tact. Urien with no Aegis is basically Urien without his signature move. Urien’s entire THING is build around that move. Its too embedded in his style to take away or modify.
I don’t want 3s Urien. I have 3s for that and that game has been played almost 20 years. Give me the modern Urien please. I want new stuff and a new but great interpretation of the character.
I only play him once in a while in Third Strike, Aegis is fun but admittedly cheap, so I’d love it if they could make a few tweaks to it, if they could make his normals a bit faster that’d be great, and maybe make his damage and stun a little more toned down. As for the style, keep the raspy voice but in higher quality, and have him rip his suit off at the beginning, the suit is for showing up, Urien only kicks ass when he’s mostly naked.
Make his knee drop a V-Skill. The direction you choose determines how far he goes. I just want Urien to be not ass without meter. He can be meter-dependent, but leaving him incomplete until he expends resources is simply unfun. A good example would be SF4 Gen, imo: Gen can still play his real game plan without meter, but he gets some really good options once he has it.
Except for the fact that Capcom have talked time and time again about recreating the hype of the Daigo evo moment, to the point of actually giving his main (he’ll probably be given incentive to play Ryu) a parry.
This makes me think they are being influenced by exciting moments that happened during the third strike era. What was another big one? This -
So while I agree that I doubt Urien will play exactly the same, I think there’s a big possibility they’ll find a way to make multiple aegis reflector a thing.
That’s exactly the point I’m making!? You don’t think it’s a coincidence that the guy that pulls off the evo parry will be maining the character that still has one? That supers are the only thing that chip kill and only really a parry will deal with them in this situation? He even shouts something like “Daigo” when he throws a hadouken in denjin mode (can someone confirm what he says lol). The character has definitely been designed with him in mind, in the hope that he can pull of something similar to the evo moment again.
Look at Chun also. She’s far more similar to her third strike version than SF4. There will be more third strike nostalgia to come too. Urien will be godlike. Not to his previous level but I think they’ll stay very true to the style that brought the hype in third strike.
I highly doubt there would be unblockables lol, in 3s they were acceptable because you could at least parry out of them (and it’s not theory fighting since at high level it actually happens a lot, in the current 3s meta Urien doesn’t go for unblockables that often)
