Doesn’t work in a lot of situations unfortunately. A personal pet peeve of the stupidity of sf5 programming.
You can use Cr.lp>target combo just fine in most cases though, but yeah that kills your emptyjump low game
Another peeve is the fact that Urien can dash Cr.lk>throw without walking forward. But if the Cr.lk hits, then he can’t and will be pushed out of range. This affects the bnb I mentioned as well as Urien for an inexplicable reason has more pushback on hit Cr.lk than on block, which is the opposite of what other characters have.
Still though, at least he gets Cr.lk>throw with no forward walk.
@bootysensei@GravityNull You have to play the fireball game, have strong anti airs and have solid footsies with St.mk , Cr.mp and St.hp. and push to the corner asap to add pressure. But how do i open them up Mr AVC well you must abuse his dash in speed and condition the opponent to tech grabs so you can then set up St.hp CC or Cr.hp etc
Balrog feels like a bad matchup or am I crazy, he wins neutral and we dont have much to take advantage of his wake up weakness, also no fireballs even from fullscreen when he has super.
I have been playing Urien defensively for the last 2 days and it was somewhat successful. People still jumped at me and if I could establish that I could anti-air at any distance using different button (fMP, cHP and especially HK), they had to approach me on ground and deal with my neutral game, and that is when people start to lose patience.
I’m curious to see if people will actually use this loop or if it will be too hard to implement into competitive games. I remember during week 1 of Guile that people weren’t sure if the Guile loop would be used in real matches. Now it’s commonly used. I haven’t tried to do it myself yet so I have no idea how hard it actually is (looks hard though).
Maybe it’s not the exact case, but you can use back+VT as anti air, then delayed hp headbutt, tackle xx CA (or just EX tackle if you don’t have full CA). You can even trade from your VT vs jumping attack and still get the hp headbutt connecting after. You can even connect c.hp xx slightly charged EX fireball (lp+mp) xx 2nd VT for some juggles after or a new setup.
How to stop this kind of Ken players? looks like he’s just swinging limbs and I can’t do jack
PS: it’s a rep list so you can watch all my loses there on YT. I like to keep a track on my loses so I can watch later how much i’ve improving (hopefully)
Dash Straight is -4 on block, you have a 4 frame target combo. Urien should be forcing Balrog into very specific distances from himself. Its not a match that you can throw fireballs in but you should be using st.mk and cr.mk to control the space Balrog wants to be in and forcing him to measure his Straights very carefully. Get a knockdown, meatie lp. fireball, V-Skill for armour and you can stuff his V-Skill on reaction with armoured Tackles or Headbutts.
This is what I am struggling with right now, keep messing up anti air HK and getting chorral kick instead. Jump back LK has worked a few times in a pinch.
I think this has to do with the delay/combo window in this game. It seems to create issues for charge characters. Bison has one where his opponent will do a jumping cross up and instead of getting anti air jab he’ll light inferno instead. Pretty sure Fang has one too because Dieminion was complaining about it.
Not sure where I’m screwing up the crHP xx H Sphere Aegis MK Knee f.MP xx Headbutt
Looking at the tips like tiny walk forward, seeing videos but still not sure where I’m going wrong since f.MP will just push into last Aegis hit. Like I did it right way less than I did it wrong.
Also if people don’t know, M shoulder can actually be +6 if u hit it on the very last frame or whatever the startup of cr.mp is, since I was able to link cr.mp from m.tackle.
The one who can mixup fireballs better with different options of approaching will win this match. I feel this matchup is pretty even, maybe just slightly in guile’s favor like 5.5. To me, this is probably the most fun matchup urien has because how even it feels. For either fighter, it’s all about creating holes in the fireball game to find an opportunity to get in. If u try to go head first trying to rush him down, u will lose easily.
