KILL! The Urien SFV thread!

let me ask you guys a question when doing mp lk lk tackle i always feel like im just putting myself in a bad situation becuase they can mash jab after. is there a better combo to go with?

got a gdlk corner aegis setup

(on crouching opponent) f+mp > f+hp xx high aegis, forward throw
if they remain croushing and tech the throw they’re in block stun from the aegis
if they remain crouching and tech early, or you shimmy, the ageis hits
if they stand block you’re back to neutral
if you land the throw you have a nice juggle state that you can work off of

only loses to v-reversal

Yeah my fights usually devolve into fullscreen fireball wars. Getting in on him is what I’m struggling with. While I like spacing Knee Drop it often gets flash kicked.
Seems V-Skill is pretty key in this match.

st.lp-st.mp xx hk.Tackle.

Lk.Tackle is only 0 on hit so its not bad but hk.Tackle gives a knockdown.

^yep, also you can space yourself out with certain strings which will cause LK tackle to be +1 on hit or better (e.g. cr.LPx3 xx LK tackle, CH s.MP > cr.MP > s.LK xx LK tackle).

I have a question about charging mechanics in SFV; it seems that Urien’s cr.HP xx fireball > HK tackle combo gives you a much more lenient charge time for the HK tackle than usual. Is there some sort of charge partitioning window when a special move connects? Or am I just imagining things.

If anyone is struggling with fwd.mp, headbutt (on pad), here’s how i’m doing it -

**Hold down forward, then go to forward mp, then up back and any punch. **

I’m getting this very consistently in neutral, but I’m struggling with it in the aegis reset after the lk knees. I’ve seen players inputs and it looks like they barely even use a down charge. Is there something I’m missing?

why are you going to up-back?
down-back, forward, up-forward. headbutt is only a 35f charge.

first of all, you and everyone else needs to drop “charge partitioning” from your vocabulary. It only exists in SF3. What you are referring to is charge buffering. As for your question, there’s nothing going on. hk tackle is only a 40f charge time.

People been trying to figure out how to potentially use this.

Here’s the written tutorial linked in the description.

Its a good habit to develop for charge characters.

E.g.

Fireball : 2361 + p
Tackle : 1(40f)~61 + k
Etc.

yeah sure always be charging, but its completely unecessary for this particular technique and just makes it harder to do.

What’s the best way to use Aegis when someone’s in your face? As in you can’t put yourself into tipper range and need to use VT.
Also, same question for if your opener gets blocked and they’re crouching? I’ve always defaulted to f+MP, f+HP tc, but then they can still block the cr.HP afterwards despite it working in training. Is this a range thing? Am I pushing them too close to the Aegis?

I am well aware of the difference between partitioning and buffering, and I was talking about partitioning. Thanks for the answer though.

this combo only works on VT activation. the second aegis will not connect. there are a couple other situations where this happens, and as far as i can tell its because VT activation stops pushback.

a good safe way to use VT when you’re under pressure is ex tackle (1 hit) xx VT. or use your invincible reversal.

sorry i was rude there, it’s just a pet peeve of mine

i figured out that u can walk a little before doin headbutt but no pratical use for it so far

Yea you’re right lol. Before I even read your replies I figured it’s much easier to do up forward instead. Was making it much harder than I needed to.

Separately, I dunno if this is news or not, but you can dash up, cr.hp, knee drop. I was surprised he had enough time to charge it but this is SF5.
