KILL! The Urien SFV thread!

what’s the startup on urien’s ex headbutt?

You can time it to beat 3 frame jabs. I didn’t have enough time to write down everything.

You can just do st.mk to beat the 3 frame jab (tested against Chun) but it also requires a bit of timing.

St.hp requires no timing and will wiff punish or CC the jab. But if they didn’t jab, he can be wiff punished himself.

Sweep beats jab and is safe into v trigger into meaty and is plus frames on block and has setups wither they get CC or quickrise or backrise.

Currently trying to come up with something universal… What I have so far is:

Throw (opponent quickrises) sweep xx neutral trigger double dash st.hp. The st.hp will CC 3 frame jabs if the opponent backrised. If the opponent quick rised in place they will hit Urien with 3 frame jab but trade with the aegis reflector and get combod.

There’s of course more stuff to break down but that’s the stuff I’m on for now… And of course this next shit:

http://youtu.be/pBU6ANq5pV8

12 frames and is -12 on block.

His EX headbutt goes the distance of his light headbutt rather than his medium like in 1.07. Pros and cons to this. Might be the reason why c.hp, h.fb can’t be followed up by EX headbutt.
S.hk startup feels slower. Could be me though. Waiting on official frame data.

few more nice bits from twitter -

I don’t understand the tech from this video. Someone please explain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNCGnAPFY0g

Yipes had some really grimey resets with aegis on his stream last night. Should def check it out if he archived it.

Dude basically thinks its tech to reversal through unsafe blockstrings with an invincible reversal

It has 8 active frames though, meaning it can be up to +5.

No cross up (because Jesus Christ he would be bonkers if he had one), low pokes aren’t cancelable without v-trigger, his v-skill seems pretty situational so far (this could change though) and he lacks solid reversal options without meter or v-gauge.
He’s good but he’s not without holes, Urien is weaker than most when the opponent is up close applying pressure.

His V-Skill is good. I’ve been using it to make headbutt an anti air. The issue I have with it is the startup.

cr. LK can still be linked into cr. LP xx M Headbutt.

Seems like his tick throw game is pretty solid. His 5lk is pretty solid button up close. His 5hp seems like they want you to spam the button. But thats just training mode.

I mean as a straight up poke though. Cr.lk is completely fine up close but you aren’t going to be able to get much out of it from further away as a poke or a counter poke.
Basically in footsies your opponent doesn’t have to worry too much about Urien’s lows unless he’s packing V-Trigger (or full super in the rare chance he lands a crush-counter sweep).

That Bison using strong, crouch strong, inferno on block is just pants-on-head retarded. Like, what’s the point of having a video show you that someone dumb enough to use a move that’s unsafe as fuck on block will eat shit and calling it tech? At least end the combo in blast or scissor kick or something that isn’t like -14 on block. It’s not even worth wasting the meter to reversal mid-combo (particularly as EX headbutt has rather significant start-up and therefore can be baited). Just wait for the Inferno and punish with a proper combo.

That’s fine. The best space control character in the game also doesn’t have a cancelable low in the neutral game (Nash). You just get your one long button low button to check people walking backwards when you need it. Cancelable c.MK was fun, but we all knew Urien was going to have too many options for that to stay. Especially with their current balance trends. The developers said they don’t want any singular poke to be too good int his game and c.MK’s are notorious for dominating neutral game (SFIV Vanilla Ryu, Ultra E.Ryu, 3S name a character etc.). Even the c.MK’s that are cancelable can usually be stuffed by a lot of high crush moves and generally just have hurt boxes all around them.

His c.MK also got improved data wise as a trade off. It’s now 8 frame start up instead 9 and I believe one frame safer on block.

The only DLC character with a cancelable low MK is Juri. Which makes sense for her since she can’t maintain pressure the same way as other characters and needs space to store charges.

Long as it’s pretty viable to build V Gauge for Urien should be fine. Solid crush counters, zoning game, good health and a reversal that works as long as they don’t meaty jab or safe jump means he wont have burn away V Reversals as much as Bison or Birdie to get to V Trigger.

I jusr had the same idea… if someone is respecting you too much you pop that bad boy and now you have an armored AA that juggles and a get in tool against people playing neutral. Or you can be lame tossing fireballs while keeping it stocked. Although it won’t buff the fireball it’ll probably help his meta knowing theres a potential AA juggle incoming if you jump at him.

It’s even better with Aegis because you’ll go straight into a reset combo most of the times.

Get ready to pay.

cr.hkxx aegis , crush counter , super
cr.hkxx aegis , block , throw (beat 3 frame jab) , super
cr.hkxx aegis , block , cr.lk (counter hit 3 frame), cr.mp … aegis combo
cr.hkxx aegis , hit , clasic okizeme high low throw mix up

prety sure something usseful in that mess

I just want to let people know that the Prima Guide is feeding you misinformation. The version of Urien that Prima Guide shows is not the version we have live currently, nor is it any version we have ever had of Urien. I can confirm that because it showcases frame data that the pre-release version did not have, and neither does this live version. (f.ex. Prima Guide says f.MP is +2/0. It’s isn’t, it never has been in any version we had playable, it’s +2/-2)

There’s a ton of wrong frame data and move mechanics in it. Please don’t take it for granted. There’s a lot of misinformation. I am currently writing down Urien Frame Data in a basic .txt file, if someone wants to set it up in a google sheet, be my guest. I’ll be posting the text file here soon. I need to correct this misinformation being spread around, since Prima Guides hasn’t updated the Urien data yet.

There’s quite a bit of changes people probably are not aware of at all, f.ex. how great his new cr. MK is (even without the cancel).
Text file coming in a few hours, I’ll post a new reply with it then.
