i had a chance to test this last night. so at 1:30 of the video… mohana throws rufus into the left corner. neutral jumps… then jumps forward and throws out j. rh. this hits and guy lands in front. so we tested it last night. the same setup in the opposite corner after the j. rh… guy lands behind rufus. it worked like this every time in the respective corner… meaning guy would never land the j. rh and end up behind rufus in the left corner and never end up in front of rufus in the right corner when done right. i can’t remember which way this has to be blocked… it was kinda late. i didn’t get a chance to see what other characters this worked on either.
sorry if this setup was already known. i’ve never seen it before. if it was already known, does anyone know what other characters it works on?
edit: also…OOPS… meant to put this in the video thread. if anyone has a problem with it being here i’ll move it.
Its a fake cross up set up and on some characters it’ll be an unblockable beehol did a whole video on this. Though never mentioned how any of the characters can get out of the setup or how to block it
found the video. thanks blood. it works on more characters than i thought it would. when we were testing it… rufus can ex messiah to get out of it. the rufus against mohana in that video also does it to get out. a lot of people are unfamiliar with guy so i assume this setup will at least hit them the 1st time it’s done.
Fiddling around in AE, I remember someone stating something about Guy tatsu’s would beat Honda headbutt if you did them against the headbutt, however that person stated you’d have to do it early or you’d get hit… well… at least on normal headbutts and when they aren’t point blank. You can actually just LK tatsu on reaction to beat all normal headbutts (LP being the toughest) that’s only due to the short travel distance where you can potentially get baited. LK tatsu carries mid invincibility so you’ll avoid the headbutt’s hitbox completely. That being said EX headbutt you will have to do pre-emptively to beat it, best case scenario is HK tatsu if you want to spend meter for EX. It’ll take time to edge that one out but you can resort to normals.
Normals that will beat Headbutt:
St/cr.lp
St/cr.mk
Cr.MP
St/Cr.HP
St.HK
Never paid much attention to tatsu, but recently started using cr LK xx MK tatsu buffers, pretty damn good. Had a much better time reacting to Rog rush punches. I believe it will also counter Dudley f+HP and Claws leap kick. I dont know if I am just mistiming but cr MP seems to get stuffed by Dudleys f+HP.
His Tatsu’s are good to use honestly, LK being Mid and Throw invincibility, MK with Low and Projectile. They are good to use in many situations you might see yourself in against certain characters.
Balrog: 1. Guy’s Target Combo can beat Balrog’s Medium and Feirce Dashing Straight Punch on block. 2. Far stLk: Can be followed up with a Forward Jump Mk or Elbow Drop or Low Bushin Flip depending on your spacing. 3. Level 2 Focus Crumple, Back Dash, Feirce Hozanto works (208 dmg). 4. An early Crmp anti-air, Forward Dash then Jump Away Mp works as a Fuzzy Guard.
yes it is an AA. i’ve been practicing with this for a while now and it seems good. of coarse your going to have to get the far stlk timing down before using it. balrog AA’s all seem to whiff against guy’s forward jump attacks after i AA him with far stlk, but that could be my timing. also i should mention balrog has to be holding forward to get hit by guy’s elbow or cross-up, that’s why you should mix it up with low bushin flip to throw him off. or you can empty jump, even empty jump by using low or medium bushin flip, elbow drop to land in front of balrog to help be unpredictable.
Nice fuzzy guard setup, but won’t it get beat by reversal headbutt or EX dash upper? If it loses to headbutt, should definitely not be used if Balrog has ultra stocked. The EX dash upper is not necessarily a huge thing to worry about, but I’m sure I’ve seen PR Balrog anti-air a backwards jump with EX dash upper and then juggle with ultra for unscaled massive damage. But hey, most Balrog players aren’t going to be on the ball enough with their charge buffering to catch something like that.
Also I would never go for that fierce hozanto unless in the corner so you can follow up with tatsu juggle or to win the round. I abuse Balrogs with TC > run slide > neutral jump OS all day in the mid-screen game.
EX dash straight is 7 frames from point blank range. If you neutral jump jab, you can ultra 2 immediately after landing to catch it, or failing that you can punish it on block with ultra 2 as well. LP dash straight is 4 frames from point blank so you have to block that if you press a button during the neutral jump, but I believe that too can be ultra 2 punished from that range.
Normally I would use ultra 1 in this matchup because you can react to all dash and turnaround punches from mid distance during the neutral game, but I’m starting to see the utility of ultra 2.
Yeah he’s a player from Alabama. He’s pretty much the best player in the state. As a Guy player we should all send him our energy to him for his EG kumite he’s about to go through. (I’m from Alabama, so I’m really rooting for him, lol).
cool. ill definetly try to get some sets in with him. he was at one of our locals last week or two ago (Gwinnett Brawl) lost to an abel. i cant beat that abel either. he kinda just goes dumb after every knockdown that he scores. but anyway i didnt know that Kreymore is Dieminions brother. Nice1 did pretty well against someone that shoulda had alot of match up knowledge. i was impressed by his playing.
Well they had played a money match before the day before so maybe hat aided him in Dieminion’s patterns and such. Also have you ever seen Kreymore? Just imagine Dieminion with longer hair and has been to the gym for at least 4+ years.
