I read somewhere Red Focus only absorbs 12 hits (which could be good for Chun, Honda match-ups, etc. but overall I am not big on Red Focus, at this point. Who knows, perhaps some tech will be discovered that favors Guy.
Also, I put up a Guy players thread so we might level up and build this Ninja clan…
Just theory talk here but - red focus may be useful to connect into Ultra 1 at mid-screen or anywhere, *without *needing 3 bars. How? Well if the opponent did anything unsafe that’s -5 or more, you could do st.mp into red focus into Ultra 1, right??? Someone tell me this works.
Red focus cancels requires 4 bars, and will significantly less damage, could that work… it depends on how fast his red focus attack is, they are indeed faster but I personally didn’t test out any kind of RFCs at NEC.
In no way are the following comments meant with anger, hostility or malice.
What threads are unnecessary Dez? Every thread I have created here is to help prevent multiple threads. We don’t even have a stickied Match-Ups thread yet. They’re all over the place in the forum, when nearly every character forum has one. There are many char. forums with Player directories. We only have a PSN one and it’s outdated and not pinned.
Also, I suggest you utilize a more respectful approach. Telling people what to do isn’t going to get you far. Asking, with a please, is much more effective. We all respect and appreciate your Guy knowledge, BD (Dez), yet said knowledge doesn’t make one ruler of the forum, which you may inadvertently be projecting.
Now, you point the finger at ME for “unnecessary threads” yet you created a ENTIRE thread just to tell everyone you have an XBL gamertag two years ago, when you could’ve just announced it in the General Discussion thread which was created 3 years ago.
C’MON MAN! <–jokingly w/ no hostility…
I’m trying to help unite the Guy players and have all pertinent data stickied, so that it’s easier to find information and once again, prevent multiple/repetitive threads. I also search for previously created threads before posting a new one.
Yeah they showed it on stream a while back and on NEC i saw folks doing it (mostly accidental.) It’s a good thing for a clutch win but outside of that it’s not worth it. You do less damage and even Zhi confirmed that.
Also Specter I’m not trying to be a leader but we have pinned posts all for anyone trying to learn Guy, the general questions thread, the tutorial which covers everything you generally need to know about Guy in text form, We do in fact have Matchup index which has links to every single matchup that someone has made, Guy video thread for in-depth footage on matchups, and critiquing, A general discussion page, and a hitbox/combos thread with in-depth damage and stun. With the bolded combos showing the most useful combo out of the bunch for common and uncommon situations.
What more do we need?
I made a thread 2 years ago. 2 YEARS ago. For the fact that I got an Xbox and people had been wondering when I was even going to get online. I made a thread for people to find my tag easier because back then everyone was active, so putting it GD would have been swept.
Well, since there was no mention of a player directory, that would be a good idea, true? Being that the forums are currently less active, but also taking into account the potential for more Sneaker Ninjas upon the release of Ultra…
My intention is never to create excessive threads, though it may be perceived otherwise.
Perhaps we can suggest thread ideas here before posting me ones. This way there is feedback from the “clan”
ok this might sound dumb, I know I’m not a high level player and I dont want to waste anybody’s time…
Acording to the official changes to Guy for Ultra SF
I just don’t like the nerf on cr.mp. I don’t think it was necessary… It is a good button, I know, but its not the best AA in the game! And surpisingly to me´, this has not been an issue for most of you… I’m currently trying to not use it as an AA anymore, but… I don’t know… Don´t you really think it will become an issue? Maybe It’s just my lack of experience…
Also… I don’t see any changes in Neck Flip’s frame data… I hope they won’t nerf it at least… It’s already bad enough lol
Just wanted to say that if I have been perceived as being a jerk of late, my bad… I really am here to learn, build and grow w/ my fellow Sneaker ninjas.
My intention is not to get into quarrels, nor be annoying…
Positively, I played a Guy yesterday that was pretty good. Joruhe. ggs
Now I HAVE to work on throw techs because I’m terrible at them.
Training mode, walk up throws, tick throws, reset throws. Anything you feel could lead into a throw situation practice it over and over. As well as delay crouch tech, and reacting to the grab itself rather than anticipation. Key things to look for to up your tech game.
i think this would fit better in this thread than the video thread. guy wasn’t great in this game, but solid fundamentals can overcome a lot in street fighter. the speed of the game and his walkspeed helped him out a lot… well… that and cr. forward was cancelable(1st hit)… along with far st. short, and cr. fierce. i think the speed of sf4 is what hurts him overall. i still love A2. it’s one of my favorite fighting games ever. it’s got a lot of dumb stuff… but what fighting game doesn’t? xfactor, genei jin, 3s chun, a-groove bison/sakura, ahvb, roll cancel.
this is honestly just fun to watch and there’s always something to learn from older sf’s i feel. i mean watch the b3 valle vs choi matches. that thing is chock full of footsies at it’s best. if you can pick something up from this or get your mind turning when it comes to new tech for guy or something… great, because i know for me, sometimes watching stuff like this helps me look at things differently. if not, just enjoy some entertaining matches
there was also the meter gain of his RS, the low recovery of his BF, the wider hit box of its elbow drop, as well as the chip damage. All of which were being heavily backed up by the CC sub system. Through the heightened skill of a user all of this can be seen as something vaguely reminiscent of a maestro leading his orchestra. given the short comings in the case of SF4 era design decisions, its made out to be more like a DJ on digital synthesizer.
As I view DTN… A Vega is in Grand Finals this whole a character needs DP+FADC is completely null and void Sometimes you gotta have that patience and good lord does Zeus have patience.
