It’s not that bad to be honest I think he means in his own experience. He fairs quite well in the matches I’ve seen of him against those characters.
exactly even i feel guy is a bit better than hes putting him … but i guess in japan the competition must be pretty tough so even the smallest things matter in a matchup
Tell me about it. Its hell here. Seriously.
Such a great post Pedro I agree I once had a hard time winning matches and I thought I one point why am I playing Guy I cant win with him, he’s not cheap enough, I just could not understand what I was doing wrong. But I started to watch and study every match that I lost to see what I was doing wrong and what I could do better next time and I went into hardcore training with Guy. I started to read up on more match ups and started to watch videos of the top Guy players and after all of the training I went through I finally started to win. I improved in every area of my game and started to enjoy playing Guy alot more than I used too. MY win rate was %45.60 and now my win rate is %69.71 I was at 5100 BP (B rank) and now I’m at 10160 BP (B+ rank) with 3407 PP. I fell that I’m solid with Guy now because of all of the training and struggle I had to go tru and reading as well. I still have alot of room to improve and I still train hard everyday praticing combos, anti air, match ups, rush down and more. I enjoy playing Guy more than anyone else
I really like the idea of watching your own replays to see what you are doing wrong.
Especially if you are used to watch top professional players, than you will see that your opponent actually sucks, and that you lost because you sucked even more. But don’t do it when you are in a bad mood, or you may fall in depression! Instead, try to have fun with it!
After all, this is just a game…
This is the greatest line in posting history. I’m going to start copying and pasting it everywhere.
I think watching replays is not a bad idea at all. But in tournament level, you need to be one step ahead and analyse yourself and opponent as you are playing the matches. There’s no replay button.
I don’t know if this has been posted yet, but I found a new setup for Ultra 2 as an anti-air. Apparently, if you use cr. mk to lower Guy’s hitbox while buffering Ultra 2 you can make your opponent whiff their air attack and catch them before they can recover. It’s not a gauranteed way of catching them especially if they do a deep jumping attack but I’ve used it before and it works. Here is a ruff example I’ve posted on my youtube account. Again excuse the quality:

ive done this before and have come to realized exactly what p.rock said… u really find out a lot about ur bad habbits… i even found myself watching the replay and trying to play the match over and found myself doing different things and seeing things better… instead of waking up ex bsk after ryu landed a sweep, i was blocking or if i had u2 stocked i tried to pull that out… and a lot of the matches i lost it was because i was using cr hk at unsafe distances and to often. if we all can dont even use this move use cr mk since it got a better hit box since super. not even as a poke at safe distance. i stopped playing ranked a few months ago cause i felt that i couldnt find a match against the same ranked ppl… always against some scrubs and if i lost, i would lose massive points and that really pissed me off… im at 8k even as of this moment. just felt that was a pretty cool number to stay at. but try to do what i mentioned earlier… watch ur own replay and play along as the replay is going and ull see what i mean… im on xbl @ fresco4eva… another thing i wanted to let everybody know is that on wake up ive been using this set up… after a hard knock down i will cr mp meaty then try to throw them, if they tech the next time i will do it again but this time u2 them. u guys try it out see what u think. it almost works like a frame trap… peace…
So I’m sure some people would be aware of this but if ever land a Focus attack in the corner and want to be a little fancy, this works well if you back dash and might not have time to do a damaging combo, you can do an HK tatsu (have to walk up a bit) when they are at the point they are considered airborne during their crumble and be able to do a Super upon landing since all 4 hits will connect. The damage varies greatly but on level 2 it’ll be 474 and level 3 will be 534, this is the same amount of damage you would get if you can manage to land an HP Hozanto after a focus attack into super, Since a few characters it requires you to do a forward dash as opposed to a back dash for the HP hozanto to connect this is a rather good sub when in the corner.
p. rock?
btw, nice idea on the set up…might get some people unawere
hmm good idea. definitely gonna get in the lab with this
p.rock… thats some ny shit… its just another short name for pedro’s
soo I finally got to play 2012, seriously and man my execution was slightly off, dropped combos BUT thankfully never dropped FADC U1. But I kinda wish guy had a better kara throw. I need to work on execution that or it was the monitor I’m not sure at the moment.
Kept forgetting to do a lot of option selects and stuff man. 2 months of no playing can kill a man ._.
Oh…I like that! xD
yo what do u think about using st lp as an aa… i know its space dependent but just wondering if u ever use it… another thing i want to know is if anyone has the new hitbox changes in pic form (v.2012)… i would like to see them for myself…
It’s dependent on teh normal as well I’ve used st lp and cr lp in rare occasions for AA, but its almost exclusive to dive kicks. I just someone could go to the lab and see how well it fares.
Safe jump if you’ve thrown your opponent in the corner. Will work as long as you are within Max distance of run/slide. Forward Throw, Immediate Run slide. Jump, works on 4 Frame reversals. This can really be ambiguous as your opponent will less likely know whether its a safe jump or not if you delay the slide input to possibe do a EX Izuna or whichever you prefer to do. And if you back throw them into the corner, immediate cr mk, jump same results also you are slightly pushed out of there range so maybe with testing elbow, etc will beat their reversals.
So I haven’t touched my stick for almost a month and AE 2012 is still not out yet for PC !!? Seriously,WTF CAPCOM -_-
Guess I’ll do some training and watch some vids then
Well its not coming til end of February… Sorry boys and girls but I’m going to focused on SSX if I can find a way to play it. Without any real issue.
