Oh man thats a pretty huge delay :frowning: Theres a lot of people playing PC version in my area but most of em switched back to xbox/ps3 for the update so its a bit harder to find matches now. Good thing my wrist has gotten a lot better than it was half a year ago so I might start playing SC2 again. Was playing at a decent level(high master) but then I injured my right arm/wrist rather badly :frowning:

really thinking about dropping guyā€¦ his fucking flaws r costing me a lot of matchesā€¦ fucking cross up that doesnt cross up, fucking TC that doesnt combo against these fucking cheap ass shotos and that stupid lil bitch sakura. fucking overhead that hits once against a couching honda, abel, n others i cant think about right now. FUCK U ONO FOR KNOW ABOUT THIS SHIT SINCE SUPER N NEGLECT TO FIX IT BUT TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT FUCKING KENS (CHEAP ASS SHOTO) TC WORKS PROPERLYā€¦ U FUCKIN P.O.Sā€¦

Against Sakura, if youā€™re point blank, and do two cr lp/lk your mp or hp will be the cl standing version. But after 3 if they are crouching it will whiff on a good portion of the cast. But after a cross up, TC regardless if standing or crouching will whiff. You have to input at one cr lp or lk for TC to connect. But you should just try and do 1 cr lp/lk into TC/BC, youā€™ll have more success in landing it than after two and possibly hitting yourself out of range. Kenā€™s only works because he can delay it but people donā€™t even use it all that much to begin with and I think it still can mix at given ranges. In the case of cross up that as far as I know only occurs to Rose and Sim, which to cross them up requires a certain timing or spacing. But seriously donā€™t get aggravated because your cross up doesnā€™t work on 2 of the cast members, Yang lost his cross up tool and got nerfed to hell on top of it, He can only cross up a few characters in certain situations that can be easily seen, Guy can at least make his ambiguous. Even if overhead only hits once, Guy is still at even and isnā€™t in disadvantage again, just because a few things are against Guy doesnā€™t mean you should drop him.

If you really want to have a reason to hate Guy, play Alpha 2. Where all of his hozantos dont go through fireballs and are unsafe on block unless spaced correctly which was basically at around max range of st/cr hp xx FP hozanto, Bushin Chain youā€™d have to be point blank to hit them completely and it STILL has a chance to whiff the hk especially in the corner and even against the bigger characters, his normals werenā€™t that great. Hell st hp whiffed on amount of the cast, which shuts down a lot of your game to where youā€™s stuck to relying on cr hp which has less range and a longer start up. Run overhead left you at disadvantage on HIT, Bushin flip was basically useless as you could be grabbed out of it, and elbow was unsafe from it a good portion of the time, and his air normals didnā€™t have great priority or advantage and f.mp was unsafe on hit. Charlie completely dominates Guy without having to do much because Guy can barely get in on charlie, His Flashkick beats all of your air normals including Elbow and it even has good range, added with his CC Guyā€™s basically a dead man if he jumps. Bushin Flip has to be psychic to even catch Charlie for throwing a sonic Boom, and even then he can just bait your and flashkick you for free, almost all of his normals beat yours, run stop is only safe from cr hp since st hp will whiff on you, which if you try to frame trap Charlie can just CC or Flash kick you.

Trust me, Guy in IV does not have that bad compared to Alpha 2, but of course he is nowhere near Alpha 1 and 3

Yo blood u mean to tell me that CU MK hasnā€™t whiffed on rog and crouching ryu n ken. In the corner it whiffs against certain characters that I canā€™t think of right now. Cā€™mon man. Shit happened to me last night all night. N fuck that alpha shit. I stopped playing that a long time ago. I know everything that ur telling me is good advice n trust me I do all of that stuff but Iā€™m just pissed that they had three chances to get it right n didnā€™t. Yet the give these scrub friendly and mash friendly characters all the tools to win n all we want is for them to get the guy shit straight. Thatā€™s it. But Ono is an shoto ass sucker. Just look how many shoto clones there r in the game. Itā€™s just lazyness on his part and neglect to the other characters that r in the game.

On Rog, no unless I forget to delay the jump. For example: Fwd Throw, Double Jump would normally cross up but On Rog it doesnā€™t, and Rose and Sim it would whiff. If you delay by a tiny bit youā€™ll cross up on all 3 characters, this applies to Rog a lot in some cases. But it actually gives give a good mixup as the Rog player will have to notice your delay. On Ryu and Ken iā€™ve never had that happen unless they did a cr mk. But I know how you feel on the terms of not getting things right.

I feel the same as fresco4eva noob-pro shoto players give guy alot of problems but they r not your worst match ups + frame, dive kicks/grab or lk mix up, 360sstop alot of guys tools with timing when needed.To me guy has a FLEXIBLE STYLE that can be delayed on timing for c.hits n grabs with frame+ on most set-ups (example: on block ->lpx2 or 1 into grab or mp~hp run/mp~hp focus cancel into grab or lk tetsu if u know the flaws then u know what not to risk with 50-40% life left u can time some characters out if u get a life lead before they get ultra which make guy all that better sf4 is 4 both noobs and pros anyone can win if you donā€™t know the match ups u, if u donā€™t know the players habits or canā€™t stop +frame or safe weird set ups sim them in training mode after u c your reply lose/ win play 4 fun online

So I didnā€™t know about this but, you know when you do TC runslide to focus attack (on block), u donā€™t get any absorb properties at all. No wonder I tend to get counterhit out of it so many times. Pretty strange considering a focus attack lets u absorb one hit normally, but in this situation it doesnā€™t.

That applies to everyone if you FADC you wont have armor if you hold it, that would be Far to broken I guess. Plus you should never FADC forward after a Runslide. Itā€™s actually unsafe and you are open to a grab at a best.

Not a problem, its also unsafe to FADC forward with HP/EX Hozanto, I forget what exact number but this may be something your opponents might not be aware of, But Runslide I know is -3. They would have to mistime the grab for you to be able to tech. Can be done sparingly but watch your back.

Their cross up work on every character in every situation. While on the other hand we have to think about what combo to do on what character. Thatā€™s bullshit! Hmmmm Iā€™m playing against Codyā€¦ If I get a hit on him while heā€™s crouching, I canā€™t finish my combo with TC xx slide cause my TC will whiff. U think any other character in the game has to think about that as much as we do. Cā€™mon Sonā€¦ N I like how u give typical set ups n explanation while Iā€™m here telling u what happenes to me in real matches. CU MK whiffed on me all night against rog. WTF!

its only 3 character, and this actually happens to a few characters, for some reasom Rog has a wider hitbox on wake up, and i always practice my combos and everything its always just timing. post-2012 i played Yang and even though his cross up with good if you mistimed it would whiff depending on the character, same with a lot of things its not the move itself that is bad its just your timing and guys lack of active frames compared to other characters. So some things need have some adjustment its happens to a lot of the cast, though Iā€™m almost certain the safe jump cross up set ups work 100% if you have proper timing on allthe characters except characters with delayed timings then youā€™d have to adjust it correctly or do a different one. I can understand why youā€™d be aggravated it happens to everyone at first thatā€™s why you learn to deal with things all of these types of things happen to every character in the game, We at least still have a cross up, just be thankful for that.

So I donā€™t know if this was already mentioned, couldnā€™t find anything on this forum about it. It seems that Guy has another crossup in the form of diagonal j. HK.

This was the setup I was messing with vs. Ken in training mode: backthrow, small step forward (a tap on the joystick), jump forward and then an early HK. If done correctly, the crossup will hit them with the back part of Guyā€™s thigh. The most tricky part would be the timing, do it to early and Guy will go over and whiff it, too late and it wonā€™t crossup.

Your thoughts about the possible application of this?

We know this but just like i mentioned in the previous statement and in yours it requires precise timing, which is well not something a lot would want to risk, especially against Ken. I know it works in the corner on a few character but again its risky on the chance it will whiff and off a back throw Guy at least has an unblockable against Ken which in turn works out better.

I had a huge post written out last night where I sympathized with fresco and didnā€™t post it at the last second because Iā€™d been drinking and knew it would be full of Guy frustration lol Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t now as it was exactly that (-_-#) I will stand by this part though:

But yeah as i said it was a lot of drunken Guy bashing. Still love the character, still will play him. Iā€™ve put a horrifying amount of time into playing this silly game flaws or no flaws (I checked my hours played and was honestly disgusted). I also still have a LOT **** to learn with Guy, I dont use option selects at all (oops), I never learned how to use plinking effectively (oops x2), I also tend to crouch tech far too much and fall for the counter hit setups built to catch suckers like me :wink:
Still I rate myself as a higher than average Guy player I guess. I definitely spent/spend a lot of my time playing in the wrong way though and still will play arcade mode with fight request on instead of hitting the lab or endless battle so Iā€™ve plenty of bad habits and soft execution (online) patterns. Also dispite what I said about bushin elbow being useless in mixup I use it all the fricken time lol. But hey its supposed to be fun right :slight_smile:

Floe has used Guy since Super, but he never mained him.

Guy has 1000 stamina and 950 Stun, aside from stun heā€™s basically average. But SRK FADC isnā€™t safe actually, if they FADC forward Reversal U2 nabs them, if they FADC backwards, reversal EX Hozanto punishes Guy takes a lot of skill to use as well as dedication, its just youā€™ll have to practice more with him than shotosā€¦

Yea but both of them are pretty riskyā€¦ they are both heavily punishable if its not ā€œReversalā€ timingā€¦
