nice Guy performance at the Montreal tourney, heat. You were the only Guy player I saw there, good performance
AAH no you saw that!!
I got wrecked by that chun and that cammy.
did you see my ken? lol
thanks for watching though ^^
yea I saw your ken in a match but wasnt paying too much attention to it. I just watched a few Guy matches and the last few matches of the tourney. You were doing well at that team tourney I believe it was, until you faced a rog (I think JS master?). He beat Sabin in the end so at least you lost to the tourney winner lol. Didn’t catch the cammy match and I dont think the chun one either. The tourney finished really late and I started watching past midnight lol.
I just wanted to give mad props to Heat’s Guy. I played him in a ft5 tonight and I was very impressed. The set ended with me taking it 5-2, but his Guy is VERY solid. Most notably, his pressure strings are very nice. Great stuff Heat.
The only advice I could suggest (if you want it, of course) is to try and work some tick throws into your pressure strings. You were able to put together really nice block strings, but I was able to just down back. Im sure you noticed that I was working in throws during my pressure to keep you honest with those techs, then after that, since you were conditioned to tech, I was throwing lk tatsu’s to beat the tech. It didnt work everytime, but it helped a lot. Again, you are probably tied with Brunaleski for best Guy player ive ever played. Yall have quite different styles, but are equally as good. Great stuff, keep it up. I see a lot of potential in you.
on a side note: after the ft5, he switched to Ken and beat my Guy. I switched to Gen and beat his Ken. I really like his Ken too. Good mind games.
Can a couple Guys add me for xbl. My gamertag is xX Thomahawk Xx. I wanna know the mirror match and be ready for NEC. I also play Fei-Long and would like to know the Guy Matchup as well. Peace
Fei Long doesn’t have to do much to be honest, He has better footsies than Guy, and as long as you make his Rekkas/Chicken Wing safe. You won’t have to worry a lot about Guy when you take the offensive aside from EX tatsu, and defensive side just watch out for his cross up tricks, and be patient.
Guy mirror match up isn’t exactly as hard as it seems.
I can just give you the gist of what will happen and what you should do.
In a Guy vs Guy match up, This entire match will most likely take place on the ground and I mean this literally.
The match-up is just going to show who can apply the better pressure, who can get in their opponents head faster, and who has a better footsie game.
Never take an aerial approach unless you score a knockdown, cr mk beats all of Guy’s jump in options. So both of you will be fighting for that knockdown, If you do plan to jump in though baiting doesnt really help as there isnt much you catch against Guy as Bushin Flip is one hell of an AA along with TK Izuna but I would use Elbow if you are sure you’re opponent won’t react to it., I honestly suggest walking/dashing/run/stop to get in.
Just remember Guy can still cr.mk on wake up to avoid Cross up unless you time it right. And you will get this chance only if you they don’t tech their knockdown. So always go for Slide and try to stay in Guy’s Face. That’s pretty much your main goal because since he doesnt havea reversal FADC move you can be passive/aggressive rushdown just beware EX tatsu and U2 if they are using it, Just punish hard, and keep the pressure going.
GGS man.
yeah I will take that tip into account when Im in training mode. I kind of just learned the wonders of frame traps lol and I tried to get you the whole night. I got you once at least =P
I also kept on getting hit by target into bushin flip =S. I was kicking my self the whole time when that happened.
yeah I was like Gen? who the hell plays gen!? I didnt know what to do there good shit.
we need to play some offline one day… someday
lol yeah Gen has that whole " wtf" factor haha, and yeah, i know you knew better than to get hit by those TC> bushin flips. overall great games. I would love to play you offline some time. Maybe EVO next year ;D
double post
Just wanted to let yall know that im going to put down Guy. Ive had a ton of fun with him, and ill still be supporting all Guy players in their efforts. Someone take Guy to finals of a major. Im counting on yall. Ive decided to main Gen / Viper (I know, i seem like a masochist lol) after spending quite some time with them. Im planning on trying to turn the Super world upside down and have people not think Gen is free anymore, and im using viper just because…shes incredibly fun =). Im still gonna be on the Guy boards often to help new comers and to greet them etc. If anyone wants Gen or Viper matches, shoot me a message. questions / comments ? =D
Well there goes my ft5 chance blahh … well then work on your Gen :x
Finally, now I’M the best guy.
that’s cool, I’ll see you back in AE
Maybe, though I doubt ill be coming back to Guy. Anything is possible though i guess lol
I still think the best Guy players on these boards (from my personal experience) are Brunaleski and Heatblazn
I have yet to fight any of the guy players to a ft5… so hold on now…
I really wish there were some guy players somewhere near me so I could have a match.
I found cheechwizard online but thats it, if anyone else is from uk let me know.
youve done like 3 ft5’s with me lol
So I’m having trouble dealing with Ken’s footsies. The frames on Ken’s footsie tools are rediuclous, and I’m having trouble dealing with them. A lot of Guy’s main footsie tools don’t seem to work here (far smk, step back a bit slide in the worst of matchups), as they can be mirrored by Ken at the least.
Ken’s 3 frame dp means no safe jumping. You can mix it up after slides with ex izuna drop coming down and non-safejump hard kick but that’s still a guess even if you izuna down and he just blocks you wasted a meter and he could cr.hp you if he’s really smart.
EX tatsu > lot of guy’s run and ex run shenanigans from afar. His cr.lk and c.lp being both 3 frames makes run stop pressure lulzy vs a solid player.
His crouching medium is really good as a safe counterhit setup vs standing medium and crouching hard from guy.
EX BFlip gimmick/loop doesn’t exactly work on him if I’m not mistaken (or maybe I’m doing it wrong vs him…).
I can’t really see taking advantage of his disadvantages (his slow focus for example). He doesn’t really need to throw a projectile but if you are going to counter it he can FADC and punish you with U2 on his backdash after it’s recovery. Now this here maybe listed as an extreme but I’m aiming to win my local tournaments.
Also there’s a big tournament Saturday and there’s a really good Viper in my area that will be going and I could use tips on that matchup, and someone to play me as her if that could be arranged.
Mayu9999 @XBL
P.S. - Think Guy’s EX tatsu and/or BFlip will be nerfed damagewise? Both only work if they opponent let’s them happen as opposed to a rushdown tool (unless vs BFlip you have a really, really shitty backdash like Abel’s (but he can ex or normal roll/falling sky) then it shouldn’t work or at least put you at even ground).
Thank you,
~ Mayu
Just to give people’s a heads up there’s going to be a 3v3 tournament tonight on XBL. If you want to sign up with 2 people’s you know, check out the link below.
Her Flame Kicks are projectile based. Meaning any time she does it you can counter with mk tatsu or EX Bushin Flip.
