Kibbles n' Bits: The Amaterasu Combo Thread

I think the point is that it doesn’t use up ground bounce so you have more options for your ender (eg double shuffle).

Sent from my Galactus.

Just found a combo with Ammy, starting from disk mode, from a normal hit confirm (almost full :h: chain, starts from s.:m:, works with j.:s: added), using two assists, that does 710k and builds 2 meters. This means if Ammy has 1 meter already, you’re eating 1 million damage.

Notations if somebody cares:

Will have a crappy vid soon.

Hmm… two meters? I remember seeing a video really early in UMvC3 with a similar combo (but different assists) that built two meters and killed Taskmaster. It also contained the XF3 loop that we all use today.

I’ll be looking forward to see your video.

I just looked around my house. No cameras… only an iPad. Will try to make it work.

Got it.

I run Ammy anchor and have been trying to come up with something for TAC combo that is more than just m, m, h, h, h, qcf h etc… So far I’ve come up with a few things.

TAC up, H, H, H x weapon change beads), M, beads H x weapon change glaive, df H, wait till ammy’s glaive hits the ground x Okami shuffle.
After the glaive hits the ground you can whiff a TAC (up or side are a lot easier), land, qcf l x divine instruments (or snap back). If the combo before the TAC is long then whiffing the TAC, landing, doing S into tiger knee shuffle won’t work as hitstun decay will kick in and they will pop out of the S before shuffle comes out. A version of this can be done with a Side TAC but instead of starting with H, H, H, you start with a singled delayed H to get Ammy to the other side of the opponent.

The second thing I’ve been working with is the strange properties of her qcf s move in glave (glaive chop). So normally when you hit with it Ammy hits the ground and the opponent spins out for a bit and this is normally just canceled into super. However I found that Glaive chop is a two hit move and actually has different properties. The second hit is what causes the spin out, but the first hit actually causes a hard knockdown. The issue is that the second hit automatically connects, that is unless you cancel the first hit with veil of mist. If you do this Ammy will land with veil of mist activated and the opponent in a hard knockdown. I’ve experimented with certain characters and with select supers they can combo afterward. For example, TAC, weapon change glaive, full charge H x glaive chop (1 hit) x Veil of mist, DHC into Dante Devil Trigger, Vergil Swords, etc. and they can continue the combo. The non tac version of this tech works much better for this type of fake DHC glitch. I even found a way for doom to combo off of this tech.

starting with ammy, M, H, f H, fH, fH, fH x weapon change glaive, M, S, Air M x head charge H, fully charged H x Glaive chop (1 hit) x Veil of mist
If you are a clockwork or Marlinpie and have doom with ammy, you can DHC into Sphere flame from Veil of mist. Sphere flame will allow doom to recover in time to hit a st. M and otg and get two reps of a standard Clockwork loop.

the team I use can’t do much with this as I play Modok, Iron Man, Ammy. But I do still use it with Ammy on anchor. After the veil of mist I lay out a M paper then go for a mix up. To be honest it is sort of unnecessary when used in this way, but then again it is a guaranteed veil of mist mix up. I hope that this hasn’t already been shared here. Let me know any thoughts on this.

7:05 WTF!? Clock just stole MamaSpider’s IPod Touch for beating him.lol

…are you sure that wasn’t Clock’s iPod Touch? I mean, it was on his side of the screen.

So many H’s. I’ve been trying to learn this character on anchor because of her team support, but my mind just goes blank when it comes down to her =/…

Are you having issues with anchoring or with combos?

Everything I guess. Unfamiliarity is definitely a big part, but I just feel like I can never get anything going. I suck at using counters, and even with slowdown up, I can’t start any offense. I don’t really like the character that much either, but I am willing to learn for the sake of constructing a solid team.
My normal offense is just glaive 3h xx beads j h. I pretty much just derp charge in there wolverine style using glaive 3h as a divekick and frankly, IT’S UNACCEPTABLE.

If you need some background on Ammy anchor and a general idea what to do, here’s my post from another thread:

[details=Spoiler]Ammy’s got decent matchups across the board. Her fast normals and throw range help out in matchups that aren’t so easy. An opponent blocking Cold Star turns them into the training dummy for 2-3 seconds which allows you to throw whatever mix-up/unblockable you feel like in that time. Her THC is the ultimate lockdown as it hits 90% of the screen and Okami Shuffle is the second longest non-cinematic super in the game. Any character with a THC super that finishes in shorter time than Okami Shuffle (so every character except Dante) can throw 1-4 mixups under Okami Shuffle and you also get one mixup that’s visually hidden by the giant lightning bolt at the end.

For me, anchor Ammy is about waiting for that first hit-confirm into XF3 to start the comeback. If your opponent is doing something unsafe from a decent distance away, you can pop Okami Shuffle and (if hit) XF3 cancel during the ice to start your run as well. She can convert almost any hit into a ground bounce and go into the XF3 loop that will kill anyone in the cast. She can ground throw/air-throw into that same XF3 loop as well. Veil of Mist makes her a nightmare in XF3 with a ridiculous difference in movement speed between you and your opponent. Your opponent can’t do much without being ridiculously unsafe.

However, Ammy’s damage is lackluster so you must make your XF3 run count. Fighting 1 to 1 1/2 characters with her isn’t too bad. Anything more and it’s tough to win. Fighting against the clock is also an issue.[/details]

Combos can be found in the OP.

While I don’t mind more Ammy players, if you honestly don’t like playing her, you probably shouldn’t. Depending on your first two characters, you can probably find an anchor with an assist that helps them on a character you like.

You’re also going to take more than a fair share of beatings before you can figure out the correct way to approach a matchup with solo Ammy as well. You can definitely go ham with XF3+VoM but that’s not recommended.

Actually, what is the team you’re trying to build anyway? I remember seeing Mags/Shuma/Sent a while back.

Shuma/doctor derp/ammy
There is honestly not a better character for that third slot. I don’t hate ammy, but I didn’t add her because I like her, but I’m used to that. Her assist and thc with doom makes it all the worthwhile. I used to run akuma in her slot, but akuma is kind of ass for my first 2 characters now. . . especially doom since it’s really hard to hitconfirm out of the assist. I’m not confident in my ammy though, so I’ll usually blow xfactor during a doom/ammy thc to give me more mixup time/higher success chance of landing the mixup or blowing xfactor to kill the first character. She definitely seems to be a tricky anchor. I’ll just have to get more practice in I guess!

You could always go Sentinel or Strider if you have Doom but I can’t tell you how to play Shuma since I’m completely puzzled about that character.

I wish you luck. You might actually grow to like her.

Yeah strider would be pretty swell if his only otg didn’t do 10 hits (scales like shit), have a charge time making it impossible to otg on reaction, and have 35 frames of startup. I ran the sentinel/shuma deal for a while, but no matter how well I played, I had no way to protect sentinel. Ammy’s assist is fucking bonkers for shuma though. If I ever get someone in coldstar, it’s all over. Doom/ammy thc is also one of the most braindead and stupid things to abuse once you get the hang of it. I love what she brings to a team, but I’ll have to grow on her as a character. I really liked okami, so we’ll see ^^.

I figured I should probably eventually learn Ammy XF3 combos since I’m anchoring her more and more often due to swapping my team around as I feel like it, so I went into training mode and recorded figuring stuff out off of random starters, then pared it down.

I’m sure you can get the infinite off of a super jump throw while you’re already in X-Factor, but I couldn’t think of how in ten minutes.

Waking up in the morning to Chopin and XF3 Ammy combos. Just what every Ammy player needs to start his/her day.

Thanks, Heidi. :open_mouth:

(and yeah, I really like that starter at the end. No need to waste the ground-bounce due to ice’s hard-knockdown.)

Haha, I like it too! I was trying to figure out how to convert okami shuffle to the infinite full screen, but then I was like, “Wait a second, the first hit grants spinning knockdown, I’ll just XF that and dash across the screen… Wow, this is like thirty times easier than what I’ve seen people try to do before and the lack of scaling means it does damage faster, why do I not see people do this? It’s generally pretty easy to tell during the super flash if Shuffle’s going to hit.” It’s my favorite part of the video, for sure.

i was previously thinking of doing forward airdash => glaive df+H OTG after xfc’ing out of okami shuffle’s last part (hard knockdown), then weapon change to drop to the floor, MH xx weapon change again then M xx qcfL in glaive to get the infinite going. much easier to use the spinning knockdown approach. i will try to get it down when i get home. thanks stark~

i came up with ammy TAC/sj height reset mixup a la magneto (i came up with this for a ton of characters actually, maybe not original for all of them but it’s fun coming up with them) and it’s pretty useful for any situation where ammy is not anchoring. in my case it’s useful when i am saving doom and having ammy fight on the screen, even better because doom has scary TAC combos.

speaking of TAC, ammy’s TACs aren’t too great imo. I only have one for up exchange which is just weapon change to glaive on TAC incoming attack hitting (this makes her fall at the same speed as the opponent in spinning knockdown) charged H, wait then charged H again, then ground qcfL full charge xx okami shuffle.
more consistent version is after 2 charged Hs, weapon change to rosary and hit one H then okami shuffle straight from there. depending on the height of 2nd charged H, the earlier version may not work well.

down exchange would just be 1 charged H instead of 2 (but thats no fun) and side exchange would be the same imo since the forced ground bounce keeps them at the same horizontal range. i assume mostly the same for midscreen as well.

if you’re already in glaive as you come in, you can do addf to adjust your height before charged H. it’s all the same after that.

kinda miss ammy slow combos under DHC glitch. those were the shit

EDIT: i might have an idea after all.

Sees youtube comment saying “It’s the same combo just a different start to it, anyone could figure this out”

Glances at the name of the video (Amaterasu XF3 infinite starters)

And yet for some reason I feel compelled to make a civil response. Sigh.
