quick question… I was wondering what makes Ken’s forward mk so good? On block it’s -2 frames and on hit its only a +1 from what I understand. Doesn’t seem good enough to keep pressure on the opponent with
It has good range, its pretty fast. And you gotta fusion it with Cr.Mk also, maybe add an hadoken after. (What I do at least)
Don’t spam it to much, but when me and my opponent are just fighting each other, i love his F+Mk, cause it always catches him of guard. Its fast, and has good range =D Focusable yea, and counterable but eh.

i need help against zangief badly. i mean so badly Lmao i always get my arse whooped when i face one. i might get 1 or 2 wins out of 10 fights. i don’t like those odds plz if anyone can help itd be apprieciated…
you gotta give us more information than that, what specifically is causing you problems?
is it green hand setups? his poking? his oki game? are you moving toward him too much and eating lariets? not zoning him well?
mainly it’s the zoning and the grn hand setups… i have pretty decent pokes against him. i’ve learned to dash under his cross up jumps. but once he has me cornered/or low life he gets all “Hulk smash” on me.
ah, ok well the key to zoning him effectively is staying inside GH range, but out of SPD range. you want to have him spaced so that if he try’s spd it whiffs (you get to punish) and if he try’s green hand you can block it and punish (if he whiffs a green hand back-dash or jump away IMMEDIATLY). a great tool to make him creep into this range rather than stay a bit out or inside is neutral jump mk, if he is outside of GH range this tactic can be problematic for gief, if he jumps up you can time your mk to stuff him, if he gh’s in or try’s to get in other ways you can stuff him and combo. on top of that you should beat out his lariet from this range as well, from here a good gief is probably going to want to inch in to where he can either trade with F+hk or go further in to beat your neutral jump with cr.hp.
when he is in that range just do your poking on him making sure to alter your timing so as not to eat psychic green hand. don’t be afraid to throw a fireball here and there to make him think about jumping (DON’T GET PREDICTABLE). the goal of this entire match is to keep him out, don’t let him get a knockdown and stay out of the corner, i ussually use kara-tatsu’s to escape the corner when i see a opening, that or use ex tatsu combo’s on gief to push him back towards his corner and away from yours.

I actually messed that up its 1 dash back then you do it. Some try others just try to block, if they try to uppercut it will hit the back of there head and send them flying in the other direction usually. You want to do the Razzle on that for this.

Neutral jump MK is a great tool against Gief too. I abuse it and it’s worked for me for the most part.

I was playin with my buddy the other day, and I got a few srk->fadc->ultra’s off…(he’s an ex-ken player, now plays ryu… >_>) and he just kept telling me to stop doing that. So I was just wondering, how do you guys feel? is that really worthless? should I keep my ultra for maybe a focus or something?
Depends on the situation. Sometimes you really need the extra damage.
he could be mad bcuz you keep getting him with it. kinda like how you get mad when you see a ken spamming dp… sometimes you really do need that extra dmg, and if you dp fadc on a counter hit then you get the full ultra. =D

Usually, I will go ahead and do FADC Ultra against most of the cast. However, it depends on the opponent. If I’m facing a Cammy that likes to spam spiral arrows, then I may save my Ultra to focus crumple her on one of them. But usually you don’t face opponents careless enough to get tagged by that stuff.
It’s not GREAT damage, but it’s not that bad.

Bleh, with all this talk about SSF4, it’s got me anticipating it so much. Aside from the 2 ultra things, you think they’ll be changing any characters? I really hope Ken would get a buff -.-

hello, i just wswitched from 360 controller to fightpad and have noticed a great change in my game already but am having trouble with the FADC>ultra. ive read many posts and watched vids wondering i can practice with someone to figure it out. thnks
