The run-throw mix-up game is going to have me bodying so many new players for the first couple of weeks. That actually looks mad strong, this V-Skill has pretty good application in neutral, land a hit - cancel into run - get your pressure started. Super excited to get my hands on him in the beta if he’s in it.
His buttons still look great, the stand strong looks similar to Ryu’s but a little faster, his low forward doesn’t cover as much range but is still pretty fast and stand roundhouse looks super strong. Cancelling run into step kick looks to be the best poke option but still, compared to SF4 Ken his buttons look just as good when comparing to everyone elses normals.
Depends, I assume you’re not going to be able to block from his run so if you want to be able to block you’ll want to dash I guess? I can’t think of many reasons why you wouldn’t.
For anyone who’s able to go to Comic Con, can you test if he can possibly do any sort of run-stop type combos/infinites. This is the main thing that needs to be checked with any command run character.
Extremely impressed with his moveset and design EXCEPT his hairstyle and face. I don’t see a reason to change that part up. His hair always looked great with the highly textured spiky flow style. His face is just a bit odd looking in some angles. I really hope he is still just a work in progress (I guess the whole game is!) and they take feedback into consideration and improve on his model. It seems that a majority of fans aren’t happy with the neck up. A pure classic 3rd Strike alternate skin can please everyone as well.
It is safe to say his gameplay looks the coolest, no doubt will be maining him like always. His combos looks insane!
I heard about the Ken reveal at work near 2 seconds after it was tweeted out. Convenient for me, but since I couldn’t really watch any videos or anything, I was left to ponder what a Ken revamp would look like. What we got is pretty much exactly what I felt it would look like. More based on kicks, fire – running even came to my mind, though I did expect wholeheartedly that he would get his roll, but I’m glad it’s a run instead. The appearance change and especially his stance change all make a lot of sense considering his new fighting style.
I think I’m pretty pleased with the way he’s shaping up, and I entirely understand why Capcom opted for Ken to be in; sort of a way for them to show that they aren’t afraid to change the base characters around, and that they are truly moving away from the shoto clone mindset. He’s still a shoto, undoubtedly, but it would be pretty tough to tell me he is going to play anything at all like Ryu.
In response to the “why dash?” question. I would have to assume that his dash still covers distance from point A to B faster than his run does. So doing a dash under for instance, would be more viable in the form of a dash, than as a run. However, without proper data, it’s hard to know for sure.
Uuuuugh 2:10. He can V-trigger cancel his DP.
We don’t know if that applies to all versions, and if his HP DP even has invicibility(it didn’t in SFxT, for the record), but still.
Oh well, I’ll be abusing the fuck out of it if it turns out it’s a straight-up DP FADC.
