Stop using story details against me, it is ruining my mental narrative of Ken throwing everything away at the end of USF4, divorces his wife, fights on the street and sees some real shit, gets his shit together, meets Sean, remarries and becomes wealthy again.
His redesign’s cool to me. Reminds me of a combination of Paul’s two looks from Tekken 4.
I saw someone post an old pic of Rugal for comparison also.
The hipster man bun made me jump back a bit, but it grew on me. I’d prefer a traditional ponytail, but the hair DOES look really bad. The hair didn’t look that bad in SFIV, so what happened here? There’s no reason why in an 8th gen game that it should look that awful. I remember HATING how Blanka, Honda and Akuma translated into SFIV when I first saw them, but I got used to them. I suppose I can get used to Ken’s yellow marshmallow hairdo.
That said, his fighting style looks really exciting and VERY different than Ryu’s which is a GOOD thing.
Ryu is looking so boring compared to Ken right now. I really hope they bring back Ryu’s EX-shoryuken animation that the first hit makes the opponent flip in mid air. He seem so strong in that build. They need to add more heavy hitting stuff to him like that again. He might not be flashy like Ken but he cant be as vanilla as he is now.
Being ‘boring’ has always been Ryu’s thing, though. With Ken being as flashy as he is now, it serves as a greater contrast between the two shotos. Ryu’s traditional and practical; he focuses on doing what works and hitting hard. Ken’s gonna be all about styling on your opponent.
Yes and no, in 3s Ryu was far from boring though. He was the powerhouse between the 2 in SF3. Ken was the flashier one. In SF5 they take it to the next level with Ken. I dont see that level being reach with Ryu. Dude doesnt even have a donkey kick.
