From what I could tell it was basically a jump away tactic, but similar to how I’d use Juri’s J. Mp or Chun’s instant head stomps in execution.
he jumped back but his j.HP pretty close to the ground, he used it twice in the fight.
oh an instant overhead the you can do it with hk as well
Cool deal.
I finally bit the bullet and bought a year of live again, haha.
Hopefully I’ll have something video worth within a week with Ken.
can’t wait to see it
I can tell I’ve been playing offline too long, haha.
the slightest lag intervenes in the match and it throws me completely off my rhythm.
I didn’t get many matches in with Ken, but a fair test bed against a pretty solid E. Ryu.
Another weird thing that I’ve not had much a problem with offline is getting random SRKs when I really want a Hadouken.
I’ll have to make sure I go to down/back to cancel out the possible shortcut crap.
I plan on uploading at least 3 matches so right now I only have one decent match without much lag.
where are you based bro?
So.Indiana with the poorest shit internet providers on the planet. We have three potential providers and all are about as stable as a noob tight rope walker.
had two fights this morning drop out because I lost connection to the opponent. I swear I don’t remember it being that before when I played.
probably because they’ve added more customers, but neglected to upgrade their equipment as they run away with people’s money.
Any hoo rant over on that topic
damn…do you run it through ethernet or wireless? if wireless you can get adapters to plug into your router and then a receiver that’s plugged into your xbox/ps so it’s essentially a wired connection
I’m wired - I’m admittedly a bit exaggerative in my lag claims - though it is honestly bad, lol.
Just makes it that much worst when you aren’t really used to it anymore.
I’m going to get some more matches in tomorrow. I was going to play tonight but spent too much time on here! haha
haha no worries bro…online isn’t always the way
Online is ass. I refuse to play my main online. I will however run Ken mirrors against randoms and then they insult me.
Hello,
As people get better with ssf4 I am finding it harder and harder to vortex shotos. Since Ken had a reputation as a semi-vortex char, I am wondering if anyone knows for sure if Ken’s vortex is basically gone/weak, or if I am just bad? When Ken is played at a high level He doesnt seem to get a lot out of vortex.
My cross ups get auto corrected, cross up tatsus get ducked, auto corrected, people escape me with focus dash. Everything that can be blocked gets blocked etc
I don’t know if it should happen but my unblockable setups get DP’d
please provide some tips for vortexing if you can get Ken vortex to be powerful.
Ken doesn’t have an easy way to score a hard knock down so no, he doesn’t have an actual vortex (thank god for that). His oki game is strong though, your jump ins after a hard knock down can be very hard to avoid but you have to know the character specific setups. If you get dped you either timed it wrong, or you used a wrong setup for the opponent you are facing. Search youtube for safe jump and unblockable character specific setups.
As a tip, besides the timing (i am guessing you jump too late), spacing is very important. You must hit your opponent exactly on the top of his head to perform it correctly.
A good way to test if you performed your unblockable or safe jump correctly, is set Ken as player 2 in training, select record for the dummy in training menu, perform a throw followed by the setup you are practicing and then select playback. If you can punish it you did it wrong. Repeat till you have at least mastered the timing.
as far as the crossup tatsu goes if you’re doing the light one and getting DP’d you’re timing it wrong i like to after a throw step back about 1 and a half steps jump just as they’re about to get up and hit light tatsu as soon as i’m above their head…time it right you can combo into cr light moves raw shoryu crouching medium kick or (my signature…that’s right i’m stamping it because i haven’t seen any other ken do it regardless of level lol) target combo into shoryuken/tatsu…it can be cr. medium kicked however this is when your different mixups come into play as a jump in hp would land in front and punish that oh and if they try an auto dp the tatsu they get stuffed…they can auto dp the unblockables though so it’s not a safe option only do it when you’ve conditioned them not to dp
I’ve never managed to hit an mk unblockable with an auto correct dp in training using Ryu, Ken always lands behind him. The only thing that seems to work is a very late dp.
yeah that’s what i meant the late dp…which is what everyone does to auto correct
Hi there,
dont know if it is already known but, I have been doing an easy combo to have a hard knockdown.
I am not sure for which characters it can be done,
check it out;
Dont work O.o ?? Xelnaga do u link anything, and is this ssf4 AE ?!
It works if you time the standing jab to be meaty, you don’t want it to hit in its first active frame. It only works against very few chars though, try it vs cammy or cody.
