Keiji Inafune has resigned from Capcom and will leave at the end of the month

He thinks every Megaman game should either:

  1. Be like MM2.
  2. Star Zero or a Zero-esque knockoff.
  3. Be a combination of options 1 and 2.

Fuck Inafune.

Basically. Mega Man 9 and 10 would have been way better if they weren’t basically Mega Man 2 remakes.

Because Kojima is a god.

Fixed.

Adding the Dr. B part to the Combat Cross increases its range by 50,000 light years.

No he had it right the first time :wonder:

But then wouldn’t the recovery be too much? And casualties?

Somewhere in the middle, MGS games are fun but he can’t write a story to save his ass.

I’d buy your/Dr. B’s book.

Yeah…

I’m glad someone mentioned Kojima and in lieu of Inafune quitting there is something to be said about Japanese game development as a whole.

There’s thing about the culture of it that I don’t understand. You have these ‘creators’ and everyone has to follow this guy. Like this guy is a god or something (Itagaki, Mikami, Ono, Iga, etc) and like as soon as they move on something falls a part. And whenever they speak everyone takes their word like it’s gold bricks. Don’t be seen and don’t be heard for everyone else.

However, in western companies we have multiple people doing the talking. You get writers, sound guys, graphics guys, programmers doing interviews, and you can tell that it’s a group effort. The perception that this is one man’s vision isn’t there as much. I mean we have our ol’ prolific developers like Will Wright, Cliffy B, the fable dude, Sid Meijer, etc. But by and large game development is treated here like for what it is, a group effort. No one man can make most of the games we play. Even the genius behind Minecraft has forced him to hire other people. It’s still his baby but now it’s other people’s baby too.

Japan is behind people. They don’t even pay their damn developers as much as we do. What the fuck does that say?

End of an era. I have zero faith in Capcom now, with the exception of Ono. I’m not to fond of RE5, and Jun is one of the people taking charge.

Look luck to Inafune and whatever he does decide to do.

I wonder who Capcom has left now, Ono? shrugs

Or maybe it’s because MM2 is the only MM game ever to sell over 1 mil copies?
They didn’t have to go as far as removing the slide and charge shot, but MM9/MM10 are much better than yet another MM game featuring the crap-ass MM8 engine.

That’s been Japanese corporate culture for like over 400 years, man.
Zaibatsus run everything in Japan, and Zaibatsus are organized just like the Shogun structure of the old Samurai days.
If you’re a worker drone, you take your orders from your boss, get it done, and don’t say anything about it.

that was a good read.

That’s the part I get. The part I don’t get is the spectacle that surrounds a guy once he leaves. Like the drones are incapable of continuing on.

Capcom has made some very sketchy design choices over the last few years, but his departure is really odd. The game he wants to make gets green lit and he bounces.

The thing is, japan as a whole is really behind on a lot of things and a lot of developers know it. What irks me is that capcom said something about getting the new teams to work with the marketing department to make games. That’s fucking brilliant.

This is a serious blow to Capcom. He did have some issues with the way Japan made games, so I wonder if that’s the reason for his resignation. I hope he’s not going to leave the industry, though.

May he find what he is looking for.

after alpha3, i dont think i’ve cared about anything capcom have made to date.

Truth be told i don’t think this is a serious blow. For all the things this guy has said about how Japan makes games, like others have said, he has made some serious missteps in trying to appeal to Americans. My thing is give people what they want in a game without compromising the game itself which is one of the reasons why alot of people are up in arms about the DMC reboot.

I’m just happy they don’t all commit seppiku like the samurai’s would if their leader left.

What does this mean for a new Vampire game?

Where the fuck is my new Vampire announcement Capcom!?!?
