I… never noticed that purple smoke before.
I’m not going to say anything about that combo. I’m offended by insane it is.
Lol you’re silly. I really hate EWGF, EWGF – it feels so awkward to me for some reason. I can do it, I just try to avoid doing it, lol.
I really should work on cr.forward xx mist step xx ewgf so I can do stuff like this to people. I’ve been working on Agony Spear/Twin Snake ~> EWGF BnBs right now.
I’ve noticed in places where you can’t do st.Fierce because it hits too high (and thus have to use st.Strong or cr.Forward) you can use cr.Fierce, it has deceptively similar range to st.Strong but you don’t lose the extra damage.
My Agony Spear combos is Agony Spear xx Slaughter Fist, cr.Fierce xx EWGF, st.Fierce xx EWGF, st. Fierce xx EWGF. Could probably fit the last two in there but I haven’t tried.
Same ender I use for Twin Snake Statue Smash xx st.Fierce xx EX Slaughter Fist, cr.Fierce xx EWGF, [st.Fierce xx EWGF]x2
So what’s the purpose of using agony spear in combos? I just stick with poking low forward/s.hp into ewgf combos, or starting combos with c.mp etc.
Its a hit confirm-able chain that:
(1) It doesn’t suffer from the 30% magic series chain combo damage reduction.
(2) Leaves them with less grey life than a regular.
(3) Can cancel into a non ex-special attack.
You’re right on about:
“Poking with low forward/s.hp into ewgf combos, or starting combos with c.mp, etc.”
But it a bit adds variety to his game play and allows him to chain into specials without using an EX. Its faster than cr.mp if you factor in the frame to move from standing to crouch. And it also has a bit more range than the cr. mp. So in block stings it can be applicable to frame traps where you need a bit more distance and speed.
It application is limited, and isn’t really crucial to his game-play. But, its not completely useless.
Aside from what Fatboy said, I honestly just like variety and I tend to do things a lot differently than other people. I’ll work my fingers to the bone to be able to do EWGF at the drop of a hat (which I pretty much can, if I’m not thinking too much about it), but I typically never play any game with the whole 100% efficiency in mind. I like working on my own combo ideas and applying them here and there – I’m literally just weird like that, you can do without ever using a Tekken chain with Kazuya, I just happen to like them.
My personal rule is that any combo that deals 380~400+ damage meterless is viable.
St. Hp xx EWGF, St. Hp xx EWGF, St. Hp xx EWGF, EWGF = 476 damage
St. Hp xx EWGF, EWGF, st. mp xx EWGF, St. Hp xx EWGF, EWGF = 487 damage
The St. hp > EWGF needs to be hit on a particular height or else the last EWGF won’t connect in the end of the combo. I am talking about the 1st combo.
The 2nd combo is easier in my opinion, it doesn’t need to be hit on a particular height to connect the last EWGF, and it does more damage aswell.
Would also like to note that the 2nd combo builds more meter too.
exchange the st. Mp for cr.hp for 508 damage!
It’s a very hard link though. Works midscreen but huge potential to mess it up.
I am starting to favor hard knock downs a lil more then the max damage combos in a lot of situations. His cr. lk chains, b st. Sk, raw ewgf, throw and jump ins seem really strong pressure tools from hard Knock down.
Anyone else incorporating this much?
I go st.Fierce/cr.Forward xx EWGF, st.Fierce xx EWGF, cr.Fierce xx Demon Fist. for 446 damage. I dash back in after, little less damage and it tosses them away but I like it and it works for me, simple straightforward, and it does a good job of throwing people towards corners where I can pressure for 500+ damage easily.
I prefer stuff I know I can do 90% of the time. I’m good with EWGFs, but I’d rather not constantly roll that d20 too many times. Eventually you’re going to troll a critical fail no matter how hard you try.
If you’re not comfortable with the longer EWGF combo’s yet…
Here are 4 unique combo’s, all doing over 360 dmg that begin with st.HP EWGF and end using Tekken chains and High low mix ups. They’re pretty easy to execute and could be used in high pressure scenarios where you don’t want to mess up the electric execution

The ones that end in the Tekken combos look like they put people in pretty much the exact same position as the combos I already do.
Meh, admittedly, with how diligent I am about practicing I could probably get al lof the 4-5 EWGF combos down in a day or two flat. I just don’t like them. I find them boring, really, and I feel like I prefer just doing my own thing. As long as I can do over 400 damage in a combo I’m not really concerned about it being 100% efficient. Space control is a much more important thing for me to master anyway.
It’s not a link though it’s very space dependant and is very inconsistent though.
Cool,
I can only hit it 1/10 times so I’m gonna go back to using mp instead. So much more reliable
Not space dependent or inconsistent at all. I’d recommend plinking it, but either way once you have it down it’s pretty consistent.
Edit: Nevermind, it is somewhat space dependent as if you connect your EWGF from far away such as with cr.MP, cr.HP xx EWGF (my crossup jump in hit confirm of choice) then you will be too far away for it to connect. However, you can actually fix this by doing cr.MP, cr.HP xx Mist Step xx EWGF, which connects easily and always puts you close enough for cr.HP. The mist step xx EWGF motion/timing can be the only hard part itself if you are unfamiliar with it, but if you get it down then for the most part you will be able to connect cr.HP (cr.LK xx Mist Step xx EWGF doesn’t connect).
Depending on the version (mid screen/ corner) it does about 75/80% of a bar. I have tested it several times.
This…
getting it over 50 percent of the time now with plinking. Thanks.
I guess this can now be confirmed as his most damaging meterless midscreen combo with no jump in. 508 damage if you start with a hard punch. 486 starting with ewgf

I have birthed a monster… Actually I’m pretty sure someone else mentioned doing it with cr.Fierce before.
As much as I love seeing those combos; I don’t think I’ll ever want to actually use them.
Looks like the same timing for s. MP. I’ll give this another shot tonight. Thanks for the video.
If you can show me a vid of that combo’ed from
(1) st. Hp mid screen and,
(2) hit it more than once, not recorded by a training dummy.
I’ll add it to the front page as the new ‘best mid screen BnB.’ Cuase as of now it’s too inconstant from the st.hp to be his go to mid-screen BnB.
