used to be a st joe thread actually, i think the scene collapsed tho.
I don’t recall u ever coming to Power Play, maybe I was unavailable? Or are you thinking of back when Fun Factory was open at Oak Park Mall?
Regardless, LS & I would happily provide u with transportation to & from. You’re gonna stay with Ben-Ra correct? Power Play is only 15 minutes or so from his place, all highway…
No shit? I only know of like 2 people here that play SF other than me and I wipe the floor with them.
I am going to be in KC for a while I would like to get better, Is there any other viper players?
Oh differenct cade i geuss, either way u should play us on dreamcast. Versions faster(better) and i play pad yo We’ll see what happens, cuz its just gonna be me and kaal friday, nki and glen are coming saturday or else i know they would be down. I havnt played marvel on a stick in years.
Oh and KC watch out for TEAM FRAAAAAY :lovin:
There aren’t, but we need one. Thanks for volunteering. I like a new guy who already has a main.
As for getting better, there are hookups around town on wednesdays and fridays i think, and sometimes tuesdays and saturdays. Mostly people post on here, although some of them have gotten so regular they might not. My advice is to go to a hookup, and if it feels like you’re getting good competition, go back. There’s enough different ones you’re bound to find one that’s good for you. Also there’s a tournament next saturday, Max Out. There will be some very strong players there.
Hi, have you met us? Allow me to introduce ourselves. We are Adrian and Chaz and we don’t play Marvel on consoles with any sort of care or seriousness.
hello, have you been to the majority of the tournament scene? not gonna say all, but MOST marvel scenes are console so in return, we don’t play Marvel in arcades with any sort of care or seriousness.
lol I love this bit coz it happens like once a year when someone mentions “MvC2” and “console” in the same sentence.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it’s just that the KC opinion insures they’ll never play competitively again.
it’s important to have a comfort zone
John, Sean (yeah you drunken Irishman I know you’re reading this)- Get that Vega player from Lawrence to post up. We could use some more matches against him.
yeah iv met you, even back in the day i played on pad :/. U wouldnt wanna play me on pad tho anyway…
And like ben-ra said…it does kinda ensure you wont play competetively again. Everyone and there mom plays console sticks now :/.
I take it you guys dont play sf4 for this reason? Cmon it’ll only take a week or two to get used to a home stick. Put it on a table.
Drew, I am a huge glutton for punishment. I enjoyed every one of my beatdowns. I feel like I learned how to block a bit better. I feel like it’s going to be a long hard road to get good at SF, and I’m very ok with that. As long as people stay interested, and the hookups stay intense, I’ll keep practicing and improving. I’ll try not to spoil you on victories next time.
And regarding Chris (Count Smakula, or CSmak on PSN) he’s very hype for SFIV, and he plays online every single day. I’m sure getting him out to more hookups will be a lot easier once his semester ends.
Tournament is less than a week away. Everyone hyped? I am. What I’m not hyped about, is that VERY FEW PEOPLE have expressed interest in bringing setups. WE NEED TV’s AND PS3’s, OR THIS TOURNAMENT IS NOT GOING TO RUN SMOOTHLY.
Remember, if your TV gets used in the tournament, you don’t pay a venue fee.
Also, about the tournament: It appears we’re going to have about 5 heads from Tulsa and OKC coming out to play in SFIV, TDR, HDR, and SC4. Also, people have been signing up early at the venue itself. Factor into that the list we already have, and the Melee players coming out, and this venue is going to be packed up. Another reason we need the setups.
Zana, Welcome, sir. We’d be happy to have you at our hookups. We welcome all comers, and we play on Friday nights, usually around 5 till as late we feel like. I dabble in Viper, but I suck ass. Perhaps I could learn from you.
i have like a 21" (??) crt (sdtv? old tv? fuckin kids and your technologies) i could bring, because fuck a venue fee, but the problem is i am extraordinarily weak. i’ll see if i can even lift the bastard. my ps2 is not doing a fantastic job of running my copy of AC but it could be the disc.
edit: yeah i can’t even really lift it, let alone get it down stairs, so nevermind
assume you’re having hookup this friday, will there be a Guilty setup?
rexor you been playin any of that WHP with your new man Keits?
Nah that’d be fray. Damn sounds like max out is gonna do just that, im learning AC from aka…should be ready in a week.
@kemoiwan: Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We had a lovely day, went to the park, enjoyed the weather and had a great seafood dinner when we got home… and that’s where the PG stuff ends.
My Vega knowledge isn’t as vast as some, but I can hold my own with him…
@Jspot: Yes, gg’s indeed.
-I will say, Kof98UM is now my second favorite Kof. Interesting how they did the ex/adv edit.
-Twinkle Star is surprisingly awesome, despite the sore hands after playing.
-Asa pwning people with his Dan was almost too embarrassing to handle. He must be doing some secret ninja training when his wife isn’t home.
-It feels like I’ve leveled up my Vega quite a bit. I think my days of playing Guile might be put on pause for now. Spanish ninjitsu ftw!
@Axiom: I have a 19" color TV I can loan to you. It requires an RF adapter to hook up a system to, which I can loan along with it. My PS2 isn’t operational, atm. However, since it seems like you’ll be doing SSBM, you can borrow my Gamecube too. I won’t be able to make it to the tournament this time around, otherwise, I’d have more to offer. If you want to borrow the 19" and/or the GCN, let me know and I’ll bring it with me to Friday’s hookup.
@everyone: What is ppl’s interest in Kof? I’m thinking of starting a Kof centric hookup one Saturday a month at my place, once KOF12 comes out. Anyone interested?
And we haven’t been to a tournament since they went primarily console.
I don’t have a problem with this.
Ahh… I love assumptions. Marvel vs Capcom 2 has absolutely nothing to do with SF4, or any other game for that matter. I’d play SF4 on console, just as I played GGXX on console. I even preferred GGXX on console.
I’m really not sure exactly how us playing MvC2 as arcade only translates to all games ever being arcade only.
As for SF4, I have simply yet to play it. I have nothing against it, I wouldn’t mind playing it to see if I like it.
John- I’ll bring my 20" TV and PS3. Update that pre-reg list on the first tourney post if you can, gotta show that we’re going a little bigger this time.
Adrian- Give SF4 a rental, there are some characters that aren’t completely braindead you might like (Viper, Gen, Chun, Fuerte), everyone else is just a matter of getting your links, dash cancels, and spacing down.
Except Guile, he is trash and is not fun to play with at all.
spam eggs bacon & spam
thanks to benra’s belt method (i’m giving credit because if i didn’t, in the academic world we call that PLAGIARISM) i can bring my tv. also a ps2. i have a copy of AC but its a burn and not really a good burn at that, so…
i have a 32in lcd, ps3, ps2 (HDL and lots of fighting games) and my xarcade tank stick modded with sanwa buttons.
on ps3 i have SF4 and wouldnt mind dL-ing TekkenDR if needed
when/where is this thing again (sorry to be out of loop- i feel lame for it)
